As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I have three kids - one 6 year old, one 4 year old and one 2 year old (at the time of the trip). I know that obviously the two older kids are going to have a blast at Disney World, but I am worried about my youngest little princess. This is our first time taking the children to Disney and I would hate to have the 2 year old spend the entire time in the stroller. Are there some not-to-miss things that would be great for my 2 year old to experience?
we just got back from Disney with our 4year old twin girls and 5 yr old boy. But we went a couple of years ago when our girls were 2.5yrs.
Their faves this time were the same as last time with the addition of Splash Mountain (b/c they were tall enough this trip).
And your youngest will remember the trip (people were critical that we were taking children so young, but they remembered a lot of it).
As for a stroller....your youngest will prob appreciate the rests in the stroller (the heat, crowds, and just the overwhelming awesomness made my girls want to hop in the stroller at every chance...prob felt safe).
Their absolute fave at 2 years was SMALL WORLD!!
also loved:
NEMO RIDE
NEMO MUSICAL
CAROUSEL
WINNIE THE POOH RIDE
PIRATES OF THE CARRIBEAN
HONEY I SHRUNK THE KIDS PLAYGROUND
THE BONEYARD PLAYGROUND (Don't forget about the sandpit over the walkway)
And they LOVED the pool at the hotel (lifejackets are provided for kids if needed)
And Dole Whipped Floats...ok, they didn't care for them, but treat yourself to one!
If you have another adult with you, maybe they could take the 2 older children to another ride (say spalsh mountain) while you have an hour or so one-on-one with the youngest riding Small World a couple times in a row, or the carousel. We did this and it worked wonderfully!
We took my oldest for the first time when she was 2, and she loved:
The Haunted Mansion (this is what she wanted to ride repeatedly!)
Small World, along with most of the other Fantasyland rides
Voyage of the Little Mermaid
Aladdins Carpets
and the Jungle Cruise, which is her very favorite now, at almost 5 years old.
My kids were 2,5, and 7 when we went. My youngest is now 4 and still talks about the trip! He loved meeting all the characters, the shows and there were quite a few rides he could ride too. Very glad we brought the double stroller!!
We've been taking my DD since she was 8 months old, last November being the latest trip where she was 2.5 years old, and there really isn't a lot that she couldn't do. Besides the thrill rides, she was able to do almost all of the major rides with us, which is one of the many reason I love WDW. You can experience everything together as a family. Some of her favorites were:
Winnie the Pooh
IASW
Dumbo
Aladdin's Magic Carpets
Mad Tea Party
Kilamanjaro Safari
Rafiki's Planet Watch
Nemo & Friends
Imagination Pavillion (not the ride but the play area)
Art of Animation building
Have fun finding out what her favorites end up being.
First time with kids my son's were 2 and 5. It was much fun to see what excited each of them in different ways. Now we are returning and the boys will be 8 and 11. They will be bringing their little sister who will be two. They are more excited then I am to take he on Winnie the Pooh and Small World. Disney does such a great job that it's magical at any age.
We took our granddaughter for the first time when she was 18 months. We paced ourselves, allowing for a nap in the afternoon. She could do most of the rides at MK, except BTMRR, Splash and Space Mountain. When the rest of our party rode those rides, an adult member of our party took her to ride something else or stopped for a snack. At Epcot, we spent time in World Showcase visiting the princesses. She loved everything at AK and wanted to stay longer.
She's 4 now and will be taking her 5th trip in May. She can't wait to ride the teacups and Pirates.

We took my DD for the first time at age 2 an dif was a perfect trip. Everything was so "real" to her. Aside form the thrill rides, she loved everything - even Pirates, Haunted Mansion, etc. (By age 3, shw went thorugh a fear phase and sisn't like any dark rides, which is severly limiting!)
As for "don't miss", Small World and the treehouse (she loves steps) were probably her favorites. Along with any show in the parks.

Our little girl was 18 months on her first trip and this is pretty much exactly the way it was with her. She loved Haunted Mansion but now she's nervous about it (at 5), but loved everything else. I'm not sure we took her on Pirates that first time, but that, BTMRR, Splash Mountain, and Space Mountain were the only things she didn't do there. She wanted to stay onSmall World, that's for sure!

My daughter has been to Disney several times and will be 2 on our next trip. Some of her favorites are:
Disney Junior Show at HS
Tricera Top Spin at AK
Petting Zoo at AK
Dumbo
Aladdin's Magic Carpets
It's a Small World
Off Kilter and the British Revolution at Epcot
American Idol at HS
It takes skilled planning for any group that has people who cannot ride all rides. Rider Switch Pass allows two persons to ride a ride anytime in the day if a child cannot ride the ride. Just present the short kid to the ride greeter. There are fastpasses that can be had by using the tickets of short kids. That said there are many things for little kids to do in parks and DTD.
Yesterday I was at Epcot during the Flower and Garden event. I sat there for 20 minutes talking to a couple of parents and watching kids. It was fun to watch little kids in the gardens chasing butterflies and playing in the playground. A dad said his wife was with the big kids and he was happy to rest while the younger boy played.
DTD has a lawn on the west side by Cirque and for cash a train and carousel.
Rafiki's Planet Watch requires a fun train ride to get there. There are interactive areas and the best part is the petting zoo.
As some said there are play areas in the parks for the kids like the Boneyard.
Kidcot stations have activities.
There are shows like Muppets, Ariel, Finding Nemo. There are street performers and characters who love interacting with little kids. There are parades during the day.

Mom calls to check on me and reminded me to pay the gardener. I love her so much.
Disneyland was fun with flag retreat and pickles. I have a home here, thank you. GAC is NOT a "front of the line pass".
She is gone but keeping signature. Laundry is getting done. My purpose in life is to help poor people in FL. Farewell, will miss you.
