As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Growing up, my mom was quite obsessed with cleaning (do you remember on Full House, when Danny was cleaning his cleaning supplies? ). While some of that has rubbed off on me, I think I'm more relaxed.
Still, I was wondering how much and how often you clean your house? Like, how often do you vacuum and/or mop the floors, dust, clean the bathroom(s), etc.? Do you spend a lot on cleaning supplies?
I clean our toilets (all 3 of them) every day! However I am more relaxed about most other tasks.
We wash up in the kitchen only once per day but practice clean as we go for benches, rinsing plates, cups, utensils etc. Each person makes their own bed and is responsible for laundering their sheets weekly (except my DH and I have fresh pillow cases each night, nobody else is that pedantic)! My DD sweeps all the tiled floors morning and night, I mop twice weekly and I vacuum 3 times a week for the carpets. Dusting is done weekly. I do general areas and kids do their rooms. Things like cleaning the walls and blinds etc happen as we see the mess or when I do the spring clean for that room. Laundry is a daily chore I complete for everyone except my 15yr old DS, who does his own twice a week. Towels are washed every second day, sometimes daily! The pool is vacuumed twice weekly by DH and my DD wipes over and tidies the outdoor alfresco areas. Gardening is a fortnightly task and almost never do we have each area looking perfect at the same time -lol. I 'spring' clean one room per month, each month except Dec and the garage is cleaned and tidied twice a year (when our curbside rubbish pick ups are scheduled). Our cars are cleaned less often, usually when our kids need pocket money!
The one place in our home that is a constant mess is our office. With clutter and filing everywhere, we can find exactly what we need in a moment! There is no program in our house that can keep this space tidy-lol.
My cleaning supplies are usually dishwashing detergent, bi-carb soda and vinegar, laundry detergent and most are purchased in bulk or on sale. We do not use special bathroom or kitchen cleaners, bacterial wipes or sanitisers due to allergies.
Reading through this post makes me sound like a cleaning crazy person but really we all take pride in the way our spaces are presented and some jobs just fall by the way on a busy week. I love to come home to our place after vacations because we always leave the house spotless. That makes me happy amongst the mess of unpacking.
We're not very good about regular cleaning. We try to "pick up" daily, putting away things that are where they don't belong. The floors get swept/vacuumed about 2 times a week. I make my bed daily, unless DH is in it when I leave (he works retail, so sometimes works 7am-6pm or 1pm to 10pm, on late days he sleeps in a little).
Bathrooms: I clean ours and the 1/2 bath every week.
Laundry is done almost daily, but there is no way to keep up with it - there's always more waiting!
DD Lauren is the only one at home. She doesn't make her bed or pick up her room daily. We're lucky if she remembers to put her clothes in the basket! She is in charge of her bathroom. I don't go in there.
I try to "Spring Clean" at least twice a year.
I'm not as good as I should be, but I'm much better than I used to be now that I'm a SAHM. I clean the bathrooms once a week. Usually vacuum at least twice a week. Depends how dirty it is and if the kids have spilled something. I run the dishwasher every night, and the kitchen counters are usually clean. My issue in the kitchen floor. I just hate cleaning it. I try to vacuum it at least once a week, but I need to wet swiffer it that often as well, and I probably do it every three weeks.
I am cleaning up it seems daily! Nothing major but with a soon to be two year old and a six year old every time I clean something the next day it sometimes looks like I never did. I don't go crazy, but I do a room a day usual just to keep up with my kids.
I clean the bathrooms once a week. I dust once a week. I sweep and swiffer the tile floors probably three times a week. Since most of our house is ceramic tile, I swiffer a lot! I mop the tile floors about once every 10 days or so. I sweep the lanai once a week as well. I wipe down the sliding glass doors and bathroom mirrors at least twice a week. I change the sheets every Wednesday.
I clean the bathrooms, living room and kitchen thoroughly, each week (dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping). Laundry is done twice a week including towels, bed linens and shower curtain liner. DD is responsible for keeping her own room clean. Every other week, I make sure I clean the window sills, sink drains, shower tile grout, sink/tub fixtures and patio door tracking with bleach water to keep the mold at bay (which I'm very allergic to).
Well, since there is only my hubby and I at the house 90% of the time (empty-nesters) I don't do that much housecleaning at all. We keep things picked up, the kitchen cleaned up but the heavy duty stuff is done once a week by my wonderful Marie who is a cleaning goddess!! She dusts, mops, cleans bathrooms, changes the linens and washes bath towels. The only thing she does NOT do is "windows" which is fine with me. I LOVE her!! And since I work full-time, I do not want to spend my time off cleaning!!
I cannot stand clutter so part of my daily routine is going around the house and de-cluttering. Other daily chores include making the beds, unload/load dishwasher or hand wash dishes, wipe the counter tops down in both the kitchen and bathrooms, and vacuuming (with two cats and a dog this is usually a daily chore).
I do laundry about twice a week. Weekly chores include thoroughly cleaning the bathrooms, dusting, and sweeping/washing kitchen floors.
About once a month I like to clean out the fridge and pantry. I also strip the beds and wash the linens every couple of weeks.
I do a good spring cleaning once a year where I scrub down just about every surface of the house.
Probably not as often as I should.....
We do a full clean once per week; moping, cleaning the bathrooms/toliets, ect.....
In between the big weekly clean; we do a "spot mop" or vacuum as needed....
The dishes and laundry are done daily ( we go through a ton of laundry). We also do a general straightening up of each of the main rooms on a daily basis......
The bedrooms use to be part of our "daily straightening up" but lately they have not been gotten around too and tend to be saved for the weekend....
I clean up daily, but a full cleaning, dusting, bathrooms,4 bedrooms, Living room, family room, kitchen, kitchenette, hallways are done saturday's and what i dont finish, I finish on Sunday... vacuum every other day laundry daily ... I dont have small kids in my house mine are 14 1/2 and 19 1/2 so it isn't too messy ....
I vacuum at least once a day - if not twice (3 small kids, I babysit two others and have a cat = messes) but luckily we only have carpet in our living room. I sweep the kitchen floor after every meal (again, lots of kids = big messes). I mop once a week - usually Friday nights after the kids are in bed, so the floor has a chance to stay clean for 12 hours, lol. Toilets are scrubbed every two days, but wiped down daily (more now that we're potty training). Laundry is a never ending chore - I swear it reproduces on me . I usually do two loads per day - more during football season when hubby brings home the practice jerseys.
I spend very little on cleaning supplies - I use a vinegar/Dawn diswhashing/water combination in a spray bottle to clean and disinfect the bathroom and kitchen counters (also works well as a window cleaner if I double the water amount). All told - it costs $3 for a one month supply . I also make our own laundry detergent, which rounds out to cost $.06 a load. During the summer and fall, I do have to buy spray N wash and Oxyclean for the football jersies, but I buy that in bulk.
I use Pledge Floor cleaner ($3 a bottle) once a week, and have a steam mop that I use for in-between cleanings.
I can't use a lot of commercial products because my younger two both have breathing issues (asthma) and were both preemies. Even though they're past the preemie stage, I've kind of gotten used to cleaning this way.
I do "heavy cleaning" - wiping walls down, baseboards, etc at least every other month - or I try too. It doesn't always get done.
