As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I'm a random poster 'round these parts, more often I'm just lurking. I just decided to take my first solo trip to WDW in a couple of weeks and figured, why not throw in my first TR, too!
Who: me!
When: Feb. 11-15
Where: AS Sports
The very short history on this trip is that a friend started mentioning he might want to take a trip to WDW. Being that I bought myself an Annual Pass in September, I started looking into Passholder hotel offers. My friend decided he wanted to hold off on a trip right now, but I continued checking on room rates. I figured, a girl can dream! Today I decided, why can't that dream be reality?!
I began looking at dates I would be off of work, the sooner the better, of course! I found a rate I was willing to work with for the middle of February. Then it was on to how I would get there... I have a Southwest credit I could use, but still wanted to weigh the difference in the cost of gas to get there versus the flight. The flight ended up costing just a little more, so the extra $40ish I paid is the price of comfort and extra play time! Totally worth it.
Next on my scribbled in pencil checklist... what to do when?

Sounds like a good idea! I've been on 3 solo WDW trips thus far and loved every single one of them! So I'm looking forward to hearing about another fellow solo trip.

So now I'm on to the where when... I believe a Disney planner plans due to the fact that they need the release for the excitement that is building with every passing day that brings them closer to the magical day they finally arrive! This is my planning story...
Saturday, 2/11
I arrive at 11A and will rush on over to the DME counter as quick as my little feet in running shoes can carry me! Next stop, AS Sports! It was mentioned in someones solo blog I read that this is a great AS resort for a few reasons, the best one being it's the last bus pick up at the AS resorts on the way to the parks, and also the first drop off! Genius. That's gotta be worth 10-15 minutes a day!
So anyway, focus, focus, focus.
After checking in, I will bus on over to the Animal Kingdom. The weather should be nice and not too warm, so I'm hoping to have some decent animal sightings as the afternoon creeps in.
AK closes at 8 PM this day, so I, along with a few thousand others, I'm sure, will head to Magic Kingdom. MK closes at 1 AM, so I will have hours of fun still ahead! I'm thinking I won't make it to the park in time for Wishes, but maybe, if I catch the boat from TTC, I can enjoy the show from the boat.
This is day one in a nut shell. My alternate plan, in case of rain or insane crowd levels, is to do some DHS touring and still do MK for my late night entertainment.
Sunday, 2/12
On to MK, AGAIN! I will be sleep deprived, but I'll be in the bubble, so WHO CARES! This is my morning to catch the magic that is the MK rope drop. This will be an extraordinarily long day. This is their PM EMH, until 2 AM! Whew. It is quite possible I take a midday break, which I never do. I'm thinking I will try heading to a resort with a hammock, or something equally as relaxing to rest me feet. Depending on how much I feel I've gotten done the night before, I might use the afternoon to visit another park. The choice of that park will be based on wait times I pull up on my smart phone and it's fancy wait times app. Regardless of what happens between 1 PM and 9 PM, I know my day will begin and end in Magic Kingdom!!!
Monday, 2/13
This is AK's AM EMH, but it is possible I will only utilize it if my animal sightings on Saturday were not sufficient. Kilimanjaro Safari is my favorite thing at AK, so that and the rope drop would be my main reasons for heading to AK this day.
Otherwise, I will be spending the day at DHS. This is the PM EMH, with a second Fantasmic show at 8:30, so I plan to see that one. I love Fantasmic. It's just really a spectacular show and I love enjoying all the hard work that goes into it.
Tuesday, 2/14
My last day on my world tour will be to tour the world in EPCOT. I will begin the day with its AM EMH and finish the day with Illuminations. One day in EPCOT feels overwhelming, but my plan is to not move onto the World Showcase until I feel I've seen and done everything I want to do in Future World, and go from there. There is so much to explore, but I'll be back, so I'm not too worried!
In the evening I might head to the Boardwalk or to do some late night resort visiting, or just simply head to Downtown Disney for a little shopping! It will probably end up being the latter...
Wednesday, 2/15
This is when I must make that early wake up and pry myself away from my favorite place on earth. It will be hard, but not impossible. For, you see, this evening I have tickets to Michael Jackson, The Immortal World Tour by Cirque Du Soleil! So the excitement will continue!!!
Wow! Your trip sounds great! It's nice to treat yourself every once in a whole? I stayed at AS Sports back in Sept/Oct and loved it. You are going to have a great time!
Great plans! I love solo trips--I have a couple planned this year! We're neighbors! Where in New Orleans do you live? I'm a downtown girl and have been living in the Treme for the last few years!
Heather-
Neighbors indeed! I'm living out in Metairie at the present, but I grew up in the lovely Lakeview area of New Orleans. Home sweet home, when I can't be at Disney World, that is!!
