As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

So we have a short trip of just 4 nights planned this October to squeeze one more trip out of our APs. We decided not to do MNSSHP this year since DD was overtired and passed out by 7:30pm last year and we ended up leaving by 8. BUT, I'm thinking we can still have her dress up during the day. She really doesn't get the concept of trick or treating yet so she won't miss that. But now, I can't decide... do we just bring one dress, two, three, one for every day? LOL
We do have a late lunch ADR at Akershus one day as well...
I *WAS* trying to pack lightly but then I got to thinking that all these dresses are most likely not going to fit her next year.
Here are the option based on what we own:
Cinderella (we bought this on our Feb 2011 trip for our dinner at 1900 Park Fare with her Nana and Grumpa)
Snow White (daddy found in the bottom of the closet this morning - hence all the wrinkles) - I bought this and the next two from the little dressup shop
I don't have pics of her in them but they all fit perfect right now, these are the other two:
Sleeping Beauty and Belle:
We are trying to keep the luggage down to one checked luggage and one carry on plus our backpack and diaper bag since our trip to Orlando is on Delta who charges for checked bags. We could pack a second carry-on if need be (we are entitled 3 since it's one each) but I'm trying not to.
Also, I only have shoes for the Cinderella dress but she does have sparkly black ones from last xmas that still fit (I bought them way too big)

I'd just take one, maybe 2. Most of the girls I see in those dresses throughout the day seem to complain about being hot and itchy. If you took all 4, you'd be changing her clothing constantly - making it a not so great time for you, and maybe even your DD.
Shoes that fit well, and are comfortable are more important to me than rather they're the appropriate ones for the outfit.
Yeah, I was initially thinking of leaving the Cinderella one at home since although the authentic Disney dresses are gorgeous they are definitely an itchier fabric. The other ones I got are actually super lightweight and not itchy... and machine washable
But then she put the cinderella dress on last night and it fits so perfectly I got so wishy washy again.
I'll probably just leave her in her crocs most of the time and maybe bring the one pair of cinderella shoes and she can wear them with her dress(es) for short periods of time.
I just realized in the pictures above how much she has changed/grown in just 6 months! She looks like a baby in the top picture but looks so grown up in the one from this morning.
No, she's not quite 2.5 and she hasn't really shown a preference thus far. I think I'm leaning towards bringing two... then if the Cinderella one is too itchy, we have a back up. Though now I'm wondering... I don't think Cinderella is usually at Akershus.
I love her in the Snow White one, mostly because of her coloring. She looks exactly like a mini-Snow!
That's sort of what I was thinking as well. Snow or Belle for the darker hair since Cinderella and Aurora are so obviously blonde and she's definitely not... but I love that Cinderella dress too, argh, lol
The only dress I'm not overly fond of is the Sleeping Beauty one. It's super plain IMO. but of course it's the one she wears most often too. It also has long sleeves incase it gets chilly at night, but I don't think it should in early October.
I would pack them all, especially if she isnt going to be able to wear them again! She may have a preference that day, and they are small they can't take up too much space, as for shoes I would stick with comfy shoes!
I am trying to decide the same thing. How many dresses to bring for our October trip. The last 2 trips my daughter had one on almost all the time, but it was not hot, we were there in Feb and Dec. My daughter turned 3 while there in Feb. She wears the dresses a lot at home.
I folded them in put them in a ziplock bag while packing for our last trip(those sparkles can get everywhere!)? I think I got 4 in one bag. I just hung them in the bathroom with the steam to get the wrinkles out.
I am looking at our plans and making my choices that way....she is going to BBB and 1900 PF one day, so I think Cinderella. We also have breakfast in Norway and last time we were there Belle was there to take the picture before we were seated so I am going to bring her Belle dress. Then she has a few that are not from the Disney Store which seem lighter and not was so uncomfortable that I am going to bring. If I ask her she will want to bring them all and no regular clothes!
We don't bring any of her princess shoes because hers aren't good for walking. I found a pair of silver sparkle shoes from Stride Rite. They were not a dress shoe but nice rubber soles, good for running and walking but still looked cute with the dresses!
Okay, now I think I'm leaning towards taking three and leaving the one I'm not as fond of at home, LOL
MY DD LOVES shoes so I fear if I don't bring one pair of dress up shoes we may end up purchasing some while we are there and I really don't want to do that so I may bring her black sparkly xmas shoes or check for a gold pair affordably since those would match both Belle and Snow White.
We were there in February as well and it rained the entire week! We even had to order a stroller cover overnighted to our hotel (Thank goodness for Amazon Prime shipping!)
Hopefully it will be comfortable when we go in October but not raining

I do have a slip/petticoat thing that she wears under them now (we didn't have it back in February) so as long as it isn't too hot she may not be itchy... so many variables, LOL
