Molly's Disney Dream Comes True at Port Orleans & Vero Beach Resorts - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Molly's Disney Dream Comes True at Port Orleans & Vero Beach Resorts
Hi Folks,
It has been too long since I last posted. However, since Disney has done such a great job of helping to make my daughter's Dream Come True....I thought I would share and post videos to highlight the Dream!
Molly, age 8, taught herself the ukulele about a year ago. She takes piano lessons and I guess found it easy to transistion to the strings...In April 2011, we visited Disney for Spring Break. Her love of the movie Princess and the Frog and history gave us reason to pop over to Port Orleans French Quarter one evening to walk the grounds and see if there was anything related to the movie or New Orleans area....we were blown away by singer Elliot Dyson who plays each week Wednesday to Saturday in the Scat Club. Molly danced and sang along with him through the night before we headed back to the Boardwalk. Before leaving, she mentioned to Elliot that she played the ukulele and would love to play with him some day. He said, "If you ever get back down this way, bring your uke and we will jam!"
Well, fast forward to July 2011...she did not forget his offer and we drove down from New York with her ukulele. We were on our way to Vero Beach Resort for week but detoured over to Orlando for a "gig" with Elliot! What a fabulous enteratainer he is and we recommend that you stop in to see him one night if you get a chance....he does a fine job. Molly played two songs with Elliot.
After leaving POFQ, we headed to Disney's Vero Beach Resort for our week at the Atlantic. When we arrived, Molly was still talking about her "gig" with Elliot. The CM at the front desk said, "Well we have live entertainment too. Bernie would love to play with you in the Green Cabin Room." Molly took that as her invitation to make her way up the stairs to meet and discuss her part of the show (now mind you she is 8). He loved her and invited her to play the next evening. So, the next evening at 8pm sharp, she hurried us to the Green Cabin Room with ukulele in tow! We set up in the corner for snacks and refresshments. Bernie, too, was the consummate professional and really knows how to engage his audiences from the youngest of the young to the more veteran lounge visitors. She played two songs with him.
Here are the links to the videos posted from these two amazing nights with the wonderful "child-friendly" lounge entertainers ... btw, Molly and Mom had Iced Tea/Hot Tea, Dad had Stella Artois!
Here are the links to the videos from our trip south of Molly singing with the musicians at Disney World and Vero Beach.
You can also link to them by going to Youtube.....and searching MrGrumpyNY
Enjoy
“You’ve Got a Friend in Me” from Toy Story, sung at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort with Elliot Dyson
Thanks Lauri....she loves to perform.....what better place to do so than the comfort of a Disney Resort!! We are at Vero now and loving every minute......this place is awesome!

Disney is certainly a great place for her to perform! One of the things I appreciated about the videos is that she's mature and poised for her age, but she's 8 and doesn't act or dress 18. It's very refreshing--sad, but true!
We appreciate your kind words....it is definitely getting harder and harder to buy clothes that are "age-appropriate". It drives us crazy. Thankfully she is still short so we can buy clothes that are younger. LLBean has a good selection of clothing that covers the body...unfortunately the prices are reflective of the thread needed to make such clothing. It is worth it though.

I am sitting at the pool at Vero right now....when she gets off the water slide (which might not be till closing), I will share your comments with her. She took a lesson on the harmonica today with Unca Banjo....he heard she played the uke the other night from the CMs and invited her to play with him on The Back Porch later today.....she was super excited. I will record and post that later today or tomorrow. What a spectacular trip this has been!!!
WOW!!!
I am BLOWN AWAY! She is so talented, but also so poised performing like that in front of an audience!! My DD is 11, and an amazing pianist, but she gets panick-striken just doing a piano recital in front of the parents of the other students her teacher has! Molly seems to have a future as a Disney performer!! And you must be so proud of her!
She is a ham!
Has loved performing for everyone and anyone who would listen since she was very young. Loves to sing at Kimonos in the Swan Hotel whenever we are there....it is karaoke and they let kids sing from 9pm -11pm.....then it is adults only!!
Sang "Feed the Birds" at a talent show in kindergarten that was terrific....I think you can link to it from the above YouTube videos.....or search MrGrumpyNY in YouTube and you will find it if interested in taking a peek! Enjoy!

Oh, my! I just saw the kindergarten video of "Feed the Birds". The tears just won't stop! She's incredible. Adorable and so talented. Most 5-yr olds couldn't remember a song half that long, never mind sing it so beautifully.
Played harmonica with Unca Banjo on the Back Porch of Vero tonight. Did not have time to play uke this time. Not sure if the video came out because the battery was running low....oh well.
