Our party of 2 is now a party of 11 - UPDATED 8/19/11 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Tuesday August 9th - Sunday August 14th Coronado Springs Resort Cast of Characters:
Me: Kris age 44 Disney lover (6 trips under my belt)

Then we got to talking to the mom of the goalie on dd's hockey team who goes every summer and she decided to go down at the same time Added Characters:
Kathie, Bob, Chelsea, Kasey, Skyler, Jake, Steven & Matt (Chelsea & Kasey's boyfriends but I don't know how goes to which???) Kate (who is a friend of either Chelsea or Kasey not sure) so if your keeping score that is an additional 9 characters These characters will be down from August 5th thru August 9th (they leave on August 10th to drive home) and will also be staying at Pop Century
I would love to go to WDW every summer but it's not always possible financially. Then family stuff gets in the way too and messes up your plans. As you can see down the bottom we have gone a few times before. In 2009 we had been down for 3 yrs in a row and we wanted to keep the streak going. In 2007 we celebrated my 40th bday. On that trip dd asked if we could go back in 2008 to celebrate her 13th so of course we did and then in 2009 we just threw a trip in to celebrate nothing but family time. Then my mother's health took a turn for the worse. Well it was more like a slow bend. She was very stubborn and wouldn't go to the doctors no matter what we tried and me and my 2 brothers were ganging up on her. We were thinking about another trip in summer of 2010 but didn't know what was going to happen with my mom so I really couldn't plan anything. As it turned out my mom entered the hospital on May 25 2010 and died of cancer on June 11 2010. The rest of the summer I think dd & I walked around in a fog but started planning a trip for Summer 2011 as planning a trip makes us very happy. We were so many days out we were just counting down months out not days but we were happy to be planning. DD is in high school and with her advanced classes missing school is not a possiblility so we go in the summer. I took some money that was left in a checking account of my mom's and bought AP's as I was determined to go more than once in a 12 month period. Our initial plans were:
August 2011 week vacation
October 2011 long weekend for MNSSHP & F&WF
April 2012 to celebrate my 45th bday which falls on Easter Sunday again like it my 40th did in 2007
July/August 2012 week vacation.
Well then life got in the way again. DD & I decided to move her to a different hockey team. A team which will take up way more of my vacation time and all of my money so the April 2012 trip to celebrate my 45th bday is out. Airfare is now thru the roof and over Easter our chances of an AP discount are slim. But we are still planning on all the other ones so I guess the AP's will still get a workout.
On to other details FOOD. The party we are traving with will have 3 day basic tickets. They also have the free dining which I couldn't get because of my AP's. DD & I decided to get the Basic Dining plan for the first part of our trip since we had one TS meal planned and decided to eat with our friends for 2 other meals and then we have the Quick Service Dining plan for the second half of the trip. The bad part about the way this falls is we won't have our mugs until the second half of the trip but in the words of every teen on the planet WHATEVER!!!!!
Eating is a sport to the family we are hanging out with at the World (although you would never know it from the skinny girls in that family) so meal plans were very important to them and lets be honest us too.
Dining looks like this:
8/5 - no plans as we don't land until around 6:30 pm
8/6 - Epcot with our friends and an ADR for Teppon Edu - I don't think you can even get 11 around one of the habachi grills so I have no idea how that will work.
8/7 - MK with our friends and an ADR at Crystal Palace.
8/8 - Epcot for just dd & I as we are scheduled to do the Segway Around the World Tour as you have to be 16 to do the tour and dd turned 16 in June and we have an ADR set for my dd's favorite restaurant in all the World Cape May Cafe Clam Bake. Three words for you Oreo Bon Bon's.
8/9 - DHS with our friends but they have an ADR at Hollywood and Vine but dd wanted to try dinner at Chef Mickey as we have only done breakfast so we are going to split for a bit and then meet up for Fantasmic.
8/10 our friends leave for the long drive north and we head into our QSDP portion of the trip.
Some CS meals I know we will hit are:
Pepper Market
Wolfgang Puck Express
Cosmic Rays
Casey's Hot Dogs
Toy Story Pizza Planet
La Cantina De San Angel
I would also love to try Pinnochio Haus as we have never been there.
I have been viewing the food pictures on the other section and I honestly think I get fatter just looking at the pictures but I can't wait to eat all my favorites while down there. And yes I will be getting on my treadmill again tonight to prep for this vacation.
I have been viewing the food pictures on the other section and I honestly think I get fatter just looking at the pictures but I can't wait to eat all my favorites while down there.
I think I've actually begun salivating at the sight of some of those meals....
Great plans! I'm sorry the planning has been so hectic, at least you have this trip to look forward to. I really want to try Pinocchio Village Haus too, it looks so cute inside. We tried Cantina de San Angel QS on our last trip, it was so pretty inside and the food was so good.
