As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

Someone on this board use to make tye-dyed mickey head tshirts. I can't for the life of me remember who and if they still do it and sell them. Can anyone remember who did this and give me their contact info. I would love some shirts for me and dd.
Gray (as in Graygables) used to sell them, but I think she gave that up when she started making magic on Mickey's payroll. I don't know if other PP'rs sold them or not.

You totally could do it! Really it's about buying good dyes for bright, vibrant colors. I got mine at Dharma. I made matching ones for my whole family and I can't tell you how many comments we got on our shirts!
I have never tye-dyed in my life. I wonder if we could do this??????? I'll have to give it a try (maybe)
Tie dye is easy. The neighbors and I do it with our kids every summer -- we started when they were about 4.
My two cents of advice: I've had better luck with the two-step process, where you soak the garment in a soda ash solution first, rather than the one-step dyes. I think the colors are brighter, "take" better and last longer.

And if I get daring enough to try them for our summer trip maybe I'll make black and orange tye-dye shirts for our evening at MNSSHP in October.
We did this for an October trip a few years back and got so many comments on the cool shirts. Last year when we went at Christmas time we made red and green shirts that turned out really great too! We use the 2 step die process that someone else mentioned and the shirts stay really nice and bright even after many washings. Our Mickey heads weren't as well defined as we had hoped so we outlined them with little stick on gems to give them a special touch. Good luck with your shirts! I'm sure they'll be awesome and you'll have fun making them!

Thanks! I stitched the heads with dental floss and pulled really tight. Then I put many, many rubber bands on the outside of the thread line so it was at least an inch wide with no room for seepage. I dyed the Mickey head first and then wrapped it with a plastic baggie so the color didn't spread (much!). I also stitched through the front and back of the shirt so the head was on both sides.
The bigger the Mickey head the better it looks. The kids didn't look quite as good as mine.
Then I put many, many rubber bands on the outside of the thread line so it was at least an inch wide with no room for seepage.
This is the only thing I did not do. I used only a few rubber bands and did not get any white around my image. The dye seeped through. Otherwise, I was very happy with my results!! It's a Dallas Cowboy star not a mickey head

It's pretty easy. If I can do it, anyone can. The secret is using the sqirt bottles to direct your dye. Silly me thought all this time folks were somehow dipping into the color. Not so. Just follow the directions and you'll do great. Hobby Lobby and Michaels also has kits that include everything you need except the dental floss.

Thanks for the tip. We decided to give it a try and not only do them for me and dd but the other family that is going with us so we will be doing 11 all together. They are all adult size as the youngest traveler will be a sophmore in high school so I won't have any little shirts. Wish me luck and I'll try to post pictures when I'm done. We are going to do blue red and yellow as the colors so when they hit one another we add green & purple to the shirts. 2 of the members of the other family aren't going to be happy with the shirts but they are good sports so it should make for some interesting pictures.

I first saw shirts like this on Etsy website and loved them.... keep thinking of trying it myself... maybe it would make a good project when the kids are home this summer!
