As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I just booked my DD6 the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique appointment right before MNSSHP. I read somewhere that there is a CM photopass photographer that takes her picture while they are doing her hair, makeup and nails. Is this true? Also am I able to add the pictures afterwards to the photopass? I am so excited and hope she will be just as excited as I am
Yes, there are photopass photographers at the BBB, you will get lots of pictures. I think we had about 60 between my 2 DDs on our first trip there. All of the pics will be in your photopass account and you can add them to your photo CD if you are ordering one. Have fun!
Yep we got a lot of nice pictures from the photopass I would still bring your camera and take pics though. there is a camera person jumping from kid to kid

Yes photopass is there but with so many girls they miss alot of moments throughout the experience. Make sure you take alot of pictures too. There is also a place you can go to on Main Street were they will take pictures after they are all done up for their personal photo shoot. It is in Expostion Hall and is great.Your best bet for this entire experience is picking up a dress in your local Disney Store and bringing it with you. It is alot cheaper and you sometimes get a better selection. My daughter had a dress nobody else had since we purchased it earlier. Stop at every photographer on Main St. afterwards to have her photo taken, get the most out of what you pay for.
The little "photo shop" for BBB is now (at least in October) was right around the corner from BBB. It is in Castle Couture. Very cute. If you did the BBB, you have priority for getting your pix taken.
We added those pics, plus had her pictures made in the portrait studio and added all of them to the photopass CD. They were great and got tons of precious shots!

What is the portrait studio? Does that come with all packages or is it extra cost? The more I read about the BBB the more excited I am about it and glad I got the appt!
Another question that I have is what all do you get with the middle package with the princess hair style. Does a crown come with it or is that extra. I already plan on prepurchasing the costume so just doing hair, makeup and nails.
I would also be interested in knowing what is included in the middle package. Made ressies for my DD7 for the first day of our next trip...at MK & she is very excited!!
Thanks!

We did the middle package for my DDs. They got their nails painted, makeup applied and their hair done. One DD picked the princess hairdo which included a small rhinestone tiara, the other two picked the hairdo that included a curly hairpiece that was pinned in along with some rhinestone Mickey barettes and rhinestone bobby pins. They each got the pink BBB sash as well.
We also went to the portrait studio on Main St. to get their pictures taken and also went to the PhotoPass photographer that was in the rose garden near the castle and those pictures came out really cute with the castle in the background but one of my favorite pictures is the one the PP photographer took when they turned the girls around to see themselves in the mirror the first time!

We're doing BBB as well. Is there an extra charge for the "photo shop" in Castle Couture? If so, what is the price? Is there a link for it? Where do I find more info on it?

Our 1st trip to WDW (Dec. 2011) was so awesome we're going again this year!!!
Can you buy the tiara if your DD wants the 2 hairstyle with the extentions? I think she will want the second hairstyle and the tiara. Want to know if I have to buy one ahead of time just in case.

There is no additional charge to use the photo area. If your child did the BBB, then you get priority over the non-BBB guests to use the area and have pics done. All the pictures can be put on your photopass and are included in the CD if you order one. The area in Castle Couture is the replacement for what used to be at Exposition Hall; that was moved when they put the Mickey and Princess M&Gs there.

Just a tad off subject, but not really. Who thinks a 9 year old girly girl is too old to dress up? My husband thinks she's too old for the dress, but he thinks the makeup and hair is fine. Your thoughts?

I think it depends on the child. I know some 9 year olds who would it and others who might not. If she is into the princesses then I say yes! If she is girly, but not as into the actual princesses...then how about a regular fancier dress? Not the Disney princesses but something sparkly and pretty. I have seen people do that for their girls who have outgrown the Disney dresses either in size or mind.
