As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

Moving on with the current of the years.

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So, to start off let me tell you all how this trip came to be.......
My mother decided in October she no longer wanted to be married after 40 years . There is definately something wrong mentally here and not much the family can do but sit backand watch at this point. She refuses to seek any kind of help. Now that my father has moved out, my daughter and I are the only ones left in the house and I catch most of her wrath.
A month ago, I called my grandfather in Forth Myers and asked if I could bring my daughter down to get away and he said yes and to let him know the dates. 20 minutes later I called back and told his "wifey" we would be there Feb 23-March 3 (wed-wed). It seems longer than it is because feb is a short month. Pop was in the shower so she gave him the message. He called back and said a week was too long and we would get on their nerves!!!!!!! He would send me a check to change my flight to leave Sunday instead of Wednesday........ (this all happened on a Friday). Monday afternoon I get a call from him (my mom called him screaming about something Sunday night). He said to not come at all because he didn't want to get in the middle of the divore stuff. He doesn't know what to do but hated to tell me this........... BLECH. So he sent me another check to refund me for both air tickets.
I vented my disgust on Facebook and my old girlfriend from highschool emailed me and said she had an extra room at her house in Clermont and as more than happy to let us use it FOR FREE!!!!!!! So I debated for about 30 seconds and booked our flights. I had a $160 credit to use from our origional plans and the money my grandfather had sent. So things were on a roll. My plan was to not do parks since I couldn't afford it because it was not budgeted and I'm pretty broke right now. I made a few dining ressies at the resorts......... More to come in a bit. Headed to lunch with my friend and getting an insulated water bottle for the parks from Target. Be back in a bit. Hope you enjoyed this first odd installment..........

So, I was telling my dad that we were going and planning to stay with my old highschool friends. He asked if we were going to Disney and I siad no because my funds are too low. He offered to buy us 4 day ticket for Scarletts birthday, my birthday, and my Christmas present. So, let the park planning begin!!!!!!! I got a great deal on a rental car for the week for $160!!!!!!
We arrive in Orlando March 9 around 2 p.m. I'm headed to Walmart to get some beach towels and groceries. Everyone in the house has ressies for T Rex that night so it will be a great time. Scarlett and I have never been there. Hopefully we will just unpack and relax at the pool that night and turn in early.
Thursday March 10 we are headed to Epcot for Behind the seeds tour and Princess lunch in Norway. I hate the food there but figured we can save a TON of time by seeing the princesses all in one spot.
Friday we are going to 1900 park fare for breakfast which is new for us also. This is also Animal Kingdom day.
Saturday is our first Magic Kingdom day of this trip. We are doing the Family Magic Tour which we have never done. They said there are suprises along the way!!! I can't imagine what they are and am totally excited to see what happens. We don't have any ressies today and am taking it slow so we can stay at the park longer
Sunday is another Magic Kingdom day with no real plans at all. Hopefully my moms friend who just moved to the area will be able to meet up with us that day! I haven't seen her in a few years and she hasn't seen Scarlett since she was about 3.
Monday I am hoping to go to Gatorland. I never have a rental car when we travel to Orlando so I would like to do other things off property. Monday night we are having a group dinner at the rental house with the group of people we are staying with and having the kids swim out back.
Tuesday MAY be a Sea World day depending on finances at this point. If not, I'll take Scarlett mini golfing and swimming. Tuesday night I'm taking Scarlett and my friends son Dylan to Narcoosees for a late dinner to watch Wishes from the restaurant. It will give everyone else in the house time to pack up and clean everything out before check out Wednesday.
Wednesday morning is check out and a last group breakfast at Ohana. I told everyone that it is my treat and to consider it my "rent" for the week stay. I think that is fair. Breakfast will cost me about $130. I have that budgeted into my plans already. Breakfast is late at 10:50 and I'm figuring will take about 1 1/2 hours so we will probably just take our time and head to the airport after that.
Well folks, I'm not all that exciting with trip reports but these are our plans and I hope you enjoyed reading them!
I've seen a few of your posts and I was wondering how your last minute no Disney trip turned into days at Disney. I probably just missed it somewhere along the line but how great is that that your dad got you the tickets (way to go dad). And I know what you're saying about seeing so many Princesses at once with Norway. That's a really big reason why we do it (and it being cheaper than CRT is another one).
I hope you have a wonderful trip and if you get back and do a TR you do one, if not oh well.

My dad has been awesome through all of this. I really feel like I have never been closer to him than I am now. I know he didn't really have the spare money but knew I was trying to scrape money from every place I could possibly scrimp before we left. He also knows how badly I NEED to get away with Scarlett.
We have done Norway twice before. Once was the first time Scarlett went to Disney at 2 1/2 with my whole family and the other was the first time I took her by myself at 3 1/2 so this will be a treat. I remember last year, it took all day to see the princess that are available in Epcot. It was walking around and waiting, walking and waiting, etc......... This is much easier! Lol

Thanks! It has taken us all by suprise and everyone is in shock. We all se something is wrong except her. From what I have heard, that is pretty typical.
Roxie- I must say that everytime I see your sig picture, I think of my friend. I'm going to assume that is your daughter in the picture with the loooooong hair. She is the SPITTING image of the girl who cuts our hair. I always do a double take and then laugh because how many times can I possibly see your picture and think the same thing......... She isn't even on the boards. She is however a Disney nut. I think that is why I have the association
I'm sorry about your parents. I think sometimes people who have been married a long time look around and think "There must be something else for me" and decide leaving is the best way to find that. Then, there are the little things that didn't bother you at first, but after years of living with it, it gets HUGE!
Glad you and Scarlett are getting away. While the divorce isn't yours, it still can't be easy to deal with.
