As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

So far I have mostly done vacation or travel albums. I've done my WDW trips from 2003, 2005, and 2008. I also did an album of a trip that my DM, DD, and I took to Los Angeles and San Diego a few years ago. I have started two albums for our trip to the UK which was in 2006. I have one for our travels in the countryside of England and Wales and one for our time in London. I started another album for my DD's high school graduation which was in 2005. If I kicked things up a notch, maybe I could finish it in time for her college graduation in December! I am currently working on an album which details the renovation of the house that we live in at the moment. It has been fun to see the progress from start to finish. Next up for albums will be my most recent WDW trips in June and December 2010.
I started out trying to do chronological albums, starting from each son's birth, but I lost interest in that quickly. Now I do theme albums: each has a start and an end, so I can actually finish them!
Albums I've done: summer vacations; spring break in New York; Cub Scout, Boy Scout, and Eagle Scout albums; Taekwondo albums; and one for my Air Force career. Funny thing about that one...someone at my retirement ceremony asked how long it took me to make the Air Force album, and I told them I did it over the summer. They seemed amazed, so I pointed out that it took me 24 years to get all the photos and memorabilia!
I just started this fall going back to make Disney books; so far I've done 97, 99, and 02, and I'm almost done with 03. I may decide to do a school album for DS15, who graduates in May. I'd better decide soon, huh?

I have started taking old sleeve picture albums apart and scrapping them. I have an album of California weddings and Disneyland trips, my sister's wedding, my WDW trips and Cruise, my trip to Europe from HS, and an album of day trips and events. It's this album that I tend to add to infrequently. It's a compilation of trips to Cape May NJ with my mom, Trips to Mystic Aquarium with friends, and pages of the Broadway shows I've seen these past few year.
Mostly they are about vacations I've taken. I have three about WDW, one about Hawaii, one on Grand Canyon, and one that I made on a road trip I took with my cousins from California up to Washington state and back.
I've also made several as presents for friends and family. I had a cousin get really jealous because I had made one for her mom's 65th birthday, and her sister's wedding. I finally made her one of our June vacation to WDW for Christmas.
All of mine to date - with one exception - have been travel scrapbooks. I've mainly done Disney ones, but for our 2008 trip, I did one covering everywhere we went, which also included Chicago, New York and Las Vegas. Other non-Disney destinations I've scrapped include Japan and Switzerland.
The one exception was a wedding scrapbook I did last year for my sister-in-law.

Everything! I have a few WDW trip albums , I have an ablum for each of my kids, our wedding album & then a few that have a little bit of everything in them.
Most are vacation scrapbooks. I have done a couple weddings, and one from when I was in college. I also did one for my mom a few years ago of pictures of my sister and I growing up, and I did one for my sister of the two of us.
Mostly vacations, though I have a Christmas album that was up to date once
I also have a Scout album in the works for DD and a school album (which will be several books by the time it's done). I figure when DD graduates from high school, people won't need or want to see her whole childhood displayed on a table so those will be the "graduation party books."
Her baby book isn't done yet
My parents both died before DD was 18 months old, so I was able to take all of the pictures of her with them and do a single small album.

The majority of mine have been travel scrapbooks, but I did one for Stefanie's graduation that included her four years of high school. I did a scrapbook for my parents celebrating their 50th anniversary and family. Christmas 2009 I gave both my sisters albums with their old letters to Santa and past Christmas pictures. Stefanie requested a few years ago that I do one of her Special Olympics and one of all her Halloween costumes. I've also done one chronicling Luke's Batman collection.
I've been scrapping stuff my kids do for the last 4.5 years. I started with DS and have scrapped things like first Christmas, first steps, being silly around the house, birthdays, events we have gone to (Backyardigans show, Disney on Ice, etc.).
I do the same for DD. Whatever comes up, I scrap somehow.
Most of my scrapboks are travel related (and mostly Disney). I do have a wedding scrapbook (one of my firsts and boy has my style changed!). I also have three scrapbooks which is what I call everyday stuff, special outings, and hodge podge.
DH wants me to make one for his model cars. That'll be one heck of a project.
