As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Steve\'s Silly Question of the Day 11/16/02
Well, with a few old friends like Jay and Tara popping back in this week, and new friends joining us daily, it's been almost like a family reunion around here...
Your family reunions - love 'em? Hate 'em? Always go? Wouldn't catch ya dead there?
My thoughts - THEY ROCK! Yeah there is always some jerk Uncle who shows up and mouths off, or there is chatter about how much weight Aunt So-and-So has put on, or gossip about Cousin So-and-So's facelift, but hey - it's family, and ya gotta love 'em!! We have mini family reunions just about every year with a big one every 3-4 years. Last one was in 2000 at Rough River Resort National State Park in Kentucky.

I like them. I'm the Auntie all the kids have to run from. I also bug Cousin So and So about how much her facelift costs.
It's very nice how everyone on these boards is treated like good family, whether they be new, returning or daily friends. Any of you have any facelift stories you can share with me?

They are OK I guess. I much prefer going to my DH's then my own. I'm just glad we don't have them every year!

Re: Steve\'s Silly Question of the Day 11/16/02
I always go and LOVE them. My Dad died when I was 8 so, his side is always revealing and exciting. Nice to learn about my Dad when he was little.
My Mom's side is side splittingly hilarious so hers are awesome. We too usually have someone who acts insanely thinking that this is the time to settle a 30 yr old argument about a Boston College/Holy Cross football game but they are silenced by one of my uncles funny retorts and all is back to normal.

ALWAYS go! My mom's side of the family has one every year at the 'family' farm and it is a two-day affair, complete with fish fry on Saturday, camping, loads of games for the kids, a church-service on Sunday morning with my preacher Uncle leading, a GREAT potluck, pie baking contest, an auction and lots of visiting. My mom comes from a family of 8 kids, plus her mom and her mom's sister are married to brothers,(are ya following me?) so that whole side of the family comes too.
Generally 100-150 people come, so it's a BIG event. Tons of fun and a great opportunity to get back in-touch with everyone. I love it and wouldn't miss it for anything!

<font size="2" face="Comic Sans MS, Arial">Wow, if our family reunions were as much fun as this one sounds like, I wouldn't hesitate to go. The way ours are though.... My Dad's side of the family don't keep in touch. My Mom's side of the (extended) family is just plain strange. DH's last family reunion was 13 years ago. We do attend family weddings and funerals whenever possible.

Re: Steve\'s Silly Question of the Day 11/16/02
Love em - but we don't do it too often! We did a huge extended family one last year - We had name tags with the picture of the original brothers and sisters on them - each family had Great Mama or Uncle Jim etc on them - Great Fun. I'm really glad we did this as we lost Uncle Jim later that year, as well as a few of the younger relatives. Uncle Jim was the youngest of the six. My grandmother was in the middle, she died five years ago at 93!
We get together fairly often on my Dad's side, but we don't call them family reunions! They are just birthday parties, etc. There are 20 cousins on that side, so it wasn't too bad until we all started having kids! We have 65 first cousins on my Mom's side!
The biggest get togethers are usually at funerals unfortunately!

I went to my real mothers family reunion once, I hadn't seen her since I was 8. My Brother hadn't seen her since he was 3 so we hung out together and listened to everyone tell us how we looked like her...yuck! That's the only one we went to on either side.

Re: Steve\'s Silly Question of the Day 11/16/02
My mother's family reunion is always the first weekend in October, we go when we can. There's usually about 50 to 75 there. About two week later there is a cousins reunion on my Dad's side at the same place. We're still trying to get this one going. We had about 30 there this year. They can be fun, but most of the time I'd rather spend the time with Mom and Dad.

Re: Steve\'s Silly Question of the Day 11/16/02
My dad's side has one every year and we go to about every other one. There's usually 125+ people and enough food to feed 500. I really enjoy seeing cousins that I don't get to see any other time.
This year after the big luncheon, my parents had all his brothers and sisters and their families come back to their house for a big cookout for dinner that evening. We fed 52 at the house and it was a blast!
