As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

After re-reading this post myself and some other things that are going on in the Tara/Muffin house, I am beginning to slightly suspect that my husband is pretty excited about this trip!
For example, we spent about two hours last night "googling" and "you tubing" for pictures and videos of the Disney Dream! AND! Not on my PC!!
AND! He says stuff like,"You are going to make me get my picture taken with all of those goofy characters, aren't you?" But the way he says it it's like he wants me to do that!!
AND! He is actually involved in the planning part!
This is freaking me out a little-I think in a good way, but still freaky! I had everything all scheduled out, as always, and Muffin said, " I can't wait to see the Electric Light Parade and eat at 'Ohana." HUH?!?!??!?!
So I had to change everything around, which I was happy to do, but still. It's weird!
Should I be worried that something is wrong with him?
Is he using some kind of freaky reverse psychology on me?
It is definitely throwing me off! Usually, I am the one who says,"Can't we just add a tour or a dinner?"
Anyway! Here are our plans so far:
Sadly, we could not book 'Ohana. At all. However! The ELP is in!
2/5. Muffin will already be in Florida on business. My flight is scheduled in at 9:30AM and he is meeting me at the airport. We will then, for the first time ever, use DME to get to AKL. ( Gosh, it feels wonderful even to type those letters!) I know this is nuts, but after checking in, we are heading straight to MK. I know! On a Saturday! But we needed to work the Electric Light Parade in and this is the only time that it runs that we can do it! I honestly will be so happy to be at WDW, I'm sure I won't mind if we don't get to do much else today!
2/6. We are going back to MK and spending the whole day here with, maybe, a break in the afternoon. We are planning on staying for EMH. We are having dinner at Wave, which is also another first experience for us!
2/7. We will head over to Epcot in the morning and then head back to AKL for a bit before going to HS in the evening.
2/8. We will either head to Epcot or MK if we haven't seen everything that we wanted to and then definitely to Epcot in the afternoon. We have a 4:10 ADR at Coral Reef and plan to stay for Illuminations!
2/9. We are sort of loose today and may hang out to just enjoy AKL in the morning and then head over to AK to spend the rest of the day. I this park and wanted to save it for last! We are having dinner at Jiko.
2/10 We will have breakfast at Boma before being taken to Port Canaveral for our cruise!! The only plans we have for the cruise are to do the snorkel/float/bike excursion on Castaway Cay!
2/13 We are headed back to PHL in the afternoon. I have a feeling you will have to drag me back and as for Muffin-who knows!!!
Anyway! Those are our plans so far. They are always subject to change! this is one of the things I love about a Disney vacation!!
19 days to go!!!
Tara

Reason: update
So, Muffin is playing the old mind game tricks with you? Hmmmm...... I have a feeling he's super excited but, being a guy is down playing his enthusiasm.
This sounds like a fun trip and I'm looking forward to reading all about it.

How fun!!! We will be staying at AKL during the same dates - if you see us, come over and say hi! I'll be sure to do the same! Your plans sound wonderful!

WDW - May 2006 Pop Century
WDW- november-dec 2007 pop century
WDW- dec/jan 2009/2010 pop century
WDW- oct/nov 2012 art of animation
WDW- sept 2013 port Orleans riverside
WDW- july 2015 beach club
Today we received not only our AKL luggage tags but also our DCL documentation!!
Muffin just hands all of the Disney mail right to me because he is very smart! I, for one, cannot wait to put those luggage tags on my suitcases!!!!
BUT! I looked through the DCL documents and they sent us luggage tags for the wrong stateroom! AND! Upon reading further, they have in there that they are picking us up at the airport on 2/10! Oh boy!
Now I should explain further and tell you that we originally wanted to book a category 10A stateroom. We have never stayed in an inside room on a cruise but that magical porthole looks pretty cool and we figured since it was only for three nights we'd give it a try. ( This was one of the things that was Muffin's idea and he seems pretty excited about it!) Besides, we really just sleep and change in our room. They didn't have this category available when we booked, so we settled for a category 11A. This still includes the magical porthole, but is a smaller cabin and doesn't have the split bathroom. I was never really thrilled about this idea but, hey- I am going on the Disney Dream after all on the 3rd cruise!!
Still, I kept checking the website and eventually, as if by sheer will, a category 10A opened up!! For 40 more bucks, I grabbed it right up!!
Also, we booked AKL seperately because I bought an AP. Why did I do this you may ask?? Muffin does not know this for a fact, but I'm sure he suspects that I will wriggle another trip to WDW out of him before the 365 days is up!! Honestly, with the room discount for a Savannah view, it was a dollar more than if I had bought a five day pass and paid full price for the Savannah view! So even if I don't get that second trip in, I lost a buck. I can live with that!
Anyway! I really am coming to a point here. Apparently, WDW and DCL are two seperate travel agencies. I thought that because they were accesible through the same website that they communicated with each other, but alas, they do not.
So! Back to my huge disappointment on perusing my DCL docs. I got right on the phone to DCL and spoke with a very nice woman who assured me that all I had to do was cross off the wrong stateroom number and write in the right one and my luggage would go to the correct place.
Then I asked her about the pick-up date and she fixed it on the phone. She also told me that if I let AKL know on the night before checkout that I was going on the cruise the next day, I could leave my luggage in my room and it would make it to the ship just fine. Phew! I must admit that I am still a little hinckey about all of this and wrote down everything she told me, including her name.
Now to packing! February is the weirdest time to go on a southern trip. We always do a cruise in February to break up the winter. Two years ago, we went on a cruise out of Ft. Lauderdale and it was gorgeous in Florida! Last year, it was freezing and windy! Packing is always a challenge for me.
Sometimes I wish it were as easy as my husband makes it seem! For him it is. He'll be in Tampa for the week before and he just packs a couple of pairs of shorts, a bathing suit, a business suit or two and some khakis and polos.
I, on the other hand, watch What Not to Wear religiously and I am quite into fashion. I always overpack because you never know and a girl has to have choices! I always say I am going to streamline and bring just a few things, but it never seems to work out. Given the added complication of going on a cruise, I am beside myself and can't wait until I can check the ten day forecast for Orlando and Nassau.
Besides all of this, we have to figure out what to do with Lilly! She is my adorable Golden and I dread having to put her in the doggie spa for 9 days! My brother loves her, so I am going to try to con him into watching her on the weekends. We'll see how that goes.
Lastly, and completely unrelated to all of this, I must say that I am secretly glad that the Eagles are not in the Superbowl. We are both die hard fans but now the pressure is off to watch the Superbowl on vacation!
Thanks you guys for reading this and letting me prattle on!
Signed,
Noone could possibly be more excited than me about my upcoming trip
