As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I have a "significant" Birthday coming up in late November and as there was a 30% reduction offer for DLP bookings throughout this month my daughter suggested we take my two Grandsons for a long weekend so I get to celebrate my big day there.
So - we have booked and I am really looking forward to it (this will be my 7th trip).
My only concern is what it is going to be like in the cold? I have never done cold days at a Disney Park - I've been rained on in Florida but it was rather nice warm rain. Other than that all my experiences have been during dry hot weather. I think this is going to be a somewhat different Disney experience.
Has anyone been in the colder months and is there any advice or tips you can offer? Also would anyone like to see a trip report?
we went the 1st week in dec and it was like 42 at night and about 65 70 during the day. i didnt want to bring a big coat so i bought myself a couple of fleece zip ups and a vest i just put on a tank top the ribbed kind then layered with a long sleeve tshirt and i was warm enough with jeans and sneakers i also brought a pair of gloves you may not need them but my hands get cold very easy were goin in mid nov and i plan on bringing the same type of items hope this helps
We've been in the cold a number of times (WDW, not DLP). Gloves definitely help! And a hat. I felt if my fingers and ears were warm, it wasn't too bad. I have some great Disney fleeces that were purchased when I wasn't prepared for the cold (oops!) so I bring those any time we're planning a trip in Dec, Jan or Feb.
Have fun!!
We've been to WDW twice in the cold (December). We wore hats and mittens, long pants and warm jackets. It was a change of pace, since we had normally been in May or August! That said, we had a great time and it was a nice change of pace not sweating to death!
We've been in the cold a couple of times before to Disneyland Paris - it's been literally (and I mean literally!) freezing in December and January, with temperatures during the day no higher than mid 30s. We just wrapped up really well and we were fine. Although it was cold, actually it was much nicer than when it rains. If you get a crisp cold there, it can be really nice. The only downside is when it's cold and raining, then it can be a bit miserable, but even then, hey you're in Disney!
We were there in February, and we had to cope with light snow and a bit of ice. Obviously, the gardens didn't look so great (except for the snow), but there was also something cool (so to speak) about being in a Disney park under those conditions. Real snow on Main St. We did buy a nice fleece cap, scarf, and gloves set in a shop there, with the DLP logo embossed into the fleece - a nice souvenir, which we still use during our Michigan winters.
Meantime, the Studios park was designed for cooler weather. For example, the Main St. USA equivalent is indoors (in a sound stage-styled building) - you're through the turnstiles and right back inside. And after that, the pattern is similar - a short time outdoors, than back inside for (mostly) indoor attractions.

I've been to DLP in December and it was freezing cold!!! That said, it was a lot nicer than the time I went in September where it rained the whole time we were there I've found that dressing in layers worked well.
Yes, it is a very different experience to be at a Disney park when it's below zero but it's a nice different. In late November, they should already have the holiday decorations out. You may not want to do the outdoor attractions as much (it can get very cold when you're on Big Thunder Mountain ) but I loved strolling down Main Street, U.S.A. with a cup of hot cocoa in hand! DLP is used to cold weather so there's always plenty to do!
I'm sure you'll have a great time - birthdays at Disney are the best!
We were in WDW last January when it was really really cold...... Layers is the answer for us. I had a t-shirt, a fleece and a lightweight jacket. Thin gloves to protect my hands... no hat not a hat person in the winter
For me I found that I was fine outside in the cold and it was COLD. But because indoors it was heated and waiting in line I would be boiling hot and would shed the layers in line. But that is me... I can tolerate the summer heat and love my A/C... but I don't like the indoors to be too warm. But it depends on your personal heat -cold tolerance. We saw people in winterboots, and jackets that looked like they were in the Artic, not a cold week FL. For a New Englander, even though the high was 50 one day there were 3 families out by the pool. Us from MA, and a famliy from NH and one from CT. We all kind of laughed at the fact that we though 50 in January was warm weather Oh but when it came to outside rides like BTMR, I would zip the fleece and pulll the hood, ut on sunglasses to tolerate the COLD windchill factor the speed creates... It was not the best conditions to go in, but we made it work for us.
Oh and yes please... I would love to read your trip report

Thanks for all the advice - I don't think it would have occured to me to pack gloves believe it or not and the advice about layers makes sense.
I was wondering about how warm the indoor rides would be, I had a vision of us shivering my way round POTC which would be miserable, so I am relieved that there is some sort of heating on indoor rides.
Anyway, I should stop being such a weakling, I live in Scotland for goodness sake - I'm not exactly a stranger to a bit of a chill.......
I can't believe it's less than five weeks away, I will post a pre trip report in 3/4 weeks time.
The indoor rides are fine, nice and toasty warm! Whenever we would go in the cold (and I have been at times when we needed nice warm layers, hats, scarves, mittens) I always got this strange sense of "Opposite World" - in the Florida summer heat I couldn't wait to go on an indoor ride to cool off, and in the DLP winter cold I couldn't wait to get on an indoor ride to warm up!!

No shivering at all on POTC, don't worry
That's a relief - thanks for putting my mind at rest. Now I am getting sooo excited
Have a great time. We've never been to DLP but my BFF took her kids for New Year a few years ago. She said it was freezing.
Just out of curiosity, how does it measure up to WDW? I've always been a bit concerned i would be disappointed? Although I'd love to do Disney in the Christmas season and DLP seems the obvious choice. x

I think it depends on what view you go with. Obviously there are only two parks at Paris and four at Walt Disney World, so you're never going to get the same range of attractions - or the same weather!
However, Disneyland Paris at Christmas certainly has its own appeal - I really loved the Christmas village they had set up a couple of years ago and somehow it is more realistic when it's cold at Christmas!
