As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I didn't book our trip until Sep 14....SO our countdown started out with 40 something days. I am now down to 23 days and I can't contain myself!!! HOW do you guys book a trip months or even a year in advance and remain sane?! I don't know if I could handle the suspense. 23 days seems like ions to me right now. I guess I need to grow up
We plan our trips out very carefully. Our jobs are first come first serve bases, Only one nurse or RRT to take vacation at a time. This forces us to make plans at least a year in advance. I'm planning a short get away with a friend, its in Jan 11. Our next trip will not be until the summer of 2012. The way I handle it is these boards. It feeds my addiction to the mouse. Helps me prepare and research everything and anything that may or maynot come up.
We have been planning for a yr ahead. We have to book time off from the buisness that far ahead.
That being said, I wish we could go next mth instead (I don't like the mth of Oct).
Planning gives my mind a break and something to think of besides the buisness, kids etc. I find that when I plan, I take a mini trip to WDW and that helps me throughout the day and the very very cold days of winter.
I usually start like 6 months to a year or more ahead. Where I work, it's first come due to our jobs. I planned our upcoming trip last year and is planning a curise for 2012 with DVC HHI trip in April I just started planning a few months ago and booked at our 7 month mark
I'm always thinking ahead to the next trip... even when I haven't gone on the currently planned one yet! Our next one (which I just booked yesterday!) is December 2011 and I already know our next one. It will be May of 2012. To pass the time between trips, I'm just constantly on Disney-related websites keeping up to date on everything. There's some daydreaming involved as well
I always book in advanced. Correction, I book the flight in advanced and then the WDW vacation 2-4 months later. In all this is done a year-ish in advance.
Well I have been planning this upcoming trip since the time I have decided to go (which is a year ago). I noticed that though I wasn't thinking about the trip all the time within the year whenever, I did think about it I went back to reading forums, books, watching travel shows. I think it all helps in dealing with the addiction! Now its only 2 more months until I go and I can't seem to stop thinking about it.
I'm always planning! We started going to WDW every other year, then it went to once a year, now it's twice a year, most years. This past year was only once. WE went last Jan 2010. Missed Aug trip due to Hawaii trip ( I know, sometimes I do go somewhere else ). Next trip Jan 2011, and I will be so ready to go back! Hoping for a BB for Aug 2011.
I have been planning our trip in November for about a year. I signed our whole family up to volunteer for Disney give a day. We all received our vouchers. I waited until February to book resort. I was up bright and early 180 days out to book all of our dining reservations. I have to plan ahead. We don't do park hoppers and I have to plan which park to go to on a certain day. Right now DD and DGS are helping me do touring plans for each park. Our trip is still 45 days away and I am already wanting to pack but I have to control myself. I have a list on my fridge of things I will need to bring. Sometimes I honestly think I need help!

I have been planning our upcoming trips since March of 09 when I filed for my SS disability. After I was approved....yipee. I booked our trips. I made my ADR's well in advance, just in case I was able to go. I added the December trip when the free dining was announced in July (already had the adr's When the 2011 rates were released I booked two more trips. One for spring break I know. The other one was for August. Just cancelled out that one since we will be going in August on DVC points. My window for our April trip is comimg up soon for our adr's. I just keep on planning.
I love planning as far in advance as I can, as it gives me something to look forward to. I'm up as far as plans for 2013 at the moment, although those are more rough ideas of where I want to go and roughly when, nothing more at this stage, but it does help me budget, knowing what trips we've got coming up.

The Second DD and I arrived home and stepped off the plane, I began planning our next trip. I had figured 4-5 years, when my DS would be a bit older and able to remember some of the things we did/will do. June '11 is the proposed date to go back.
this is funny as a disney freak im always thinking when can i get back . So i booked my 2011 disney dream cruise in dec 2010 then booked room only till august then changed over to a package . while booking that i took a second job to pay for a dec trip this year for me and my molly that i started to plan in end of july . it is crazy when you have 2 folders and trying to figure whcih one per day you want to work on lmao wish problems could be that hard .
