As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

So we leave for the World in 1 month and 1 week. I am so excited. I have started packing already. DH is making fun of me. I haven't pulled out the suit cases yet, but I have put the kids cloths in totes, and I have gathered some other much needed travel things. I am a list person and I like to have every thing organized. Who else shares this Obsessive Compulsive Disorder?
My clothing schedule: (I started doing this because I would over pack every trip)
Saturday Nov. 6th- AM Mickey Mouse Shirts PM Hawaiian outfits for O'hana. Arrival day. No parks
Sunday Nov. 7th- All day Belle Dress for DD and Woody costume for DS (Fantasim Dinner Experience) Epcot in the AM and DHS for dinner reservations at 3:35 stay at DHS until close.
Monday Nov. 8th- AM Zebra Dress for DD and Lion Polo style shirt for DS (Donald's safari Breakfast) PM Woody Shirts. (They have matching woody shirts, woodys body with no head. So cute.) AK in the AM and DHS in the evening Open until 10.
Tuesday Nov. 9th- All day Wendy costume for DD and Peter Pan for DS (Teppan Edo) MK in the AM and Epcot in the PM
Wednesday Nov. 10th- AM Matching Orange Toy Story Shirts PM Minnie and Mickey shirts (Biergarten) DHS in the AM and Epcot in the PM
Thursday Nov. 11th- AM Mickey Mouse 2010 shirts PM Red Christmas Dress for DD and Red pull over sweater/sweat shirt (light weight) for DS. (Chef Mickey's) Easy Morning and MVMCP in the PM at MK
Friday Nov. 12th (My D Dads birthday)- AM Gray Mickey Shirts PM Red White and Blue Minnie and Mickey shirts. (Le Cellier) AM DTD for the Art Festival and take it easy until PM at Epcot.
So tell me what you think of our plans. I am really excited. I still have to get together my clothes and DH takes what ever he wants. He says he doesn't like to match, but he will ask me what we are taking and then he ends up backing everything to match us.
We are staying at AKV. We haven't stayed here before. My mom and dad bought into DVC and this will be our first time staying in a vacation club with DVC. We lucked out and got a free upgrade to Saratoga Springs September of 09. We really liked it. We went Feb 2010 just the four of us, and stayed at Pop. DD thinks we are staying at Pop again in November. We haven't told her about AKV yet.
This will be DH, DD, and my second time doing MVMCP but it will be a first for everyone else. Oh yeah I forgot to mention who everyone else is. My mother, father, both grandma's and my grandpa, my bff, her son and her mother, and then my family of four. This will be a magical trip.
Can't wait to walk down the middle of Main Street USA.
Tell your husband to laugh at me instead of you. We leave in 56 days and I am "sorta" packing. Everything but my shoes, shorts/pants and tops. But I know which of those Im taking.

I have had stuff packed for about 3 months now. I have everything ready to go into suitcases, its just once you get the suitcases out they are out and in the way. We are in a very small apartment (that I hate, I miss having my extra room.) I can't lay the suitcases out on the floor in an extra room any more (We moved about a year ago. We moved for IL to the DC area. I miss my house in the country, now I am in the city with no extra rooms and no yard. YUCK.)
So he will continue to make fun of me. However he thinks anyone who packs this early is crazy. He waits until the week we are leaving to pack. I will get the suitcases out 2 weeks before.
I can't wait until I can do my single digit dance, and even better until I can say we have one more sleep until Disney.
Last night he was making fun of my mom and me. With her living 15 hours away she wanted pictures of the kids outfits so she could try to match her, my dad and my grandparents to the kids. DH will love that, Because he will end up matching them. I never told him what she exactly wanted the pictures for.
When we first started planning this trip, it seemed so far away. Now it is so close and it will feel like forever until its gets her. Does anyone know and understand the feeling.
The only thing I CAN wait for is the trip report, because that means I am either at the World feeling you all in daily or back from the World. I hate when my trip to the World is over. I cry every time.
Travel and plans for day one and two (5th and 6th of November):
We will leave Maryland around 3 PM on Friday November 5th. We are going to drive as far as we can. Our plan is to drive until about three hours out. Get a good nights sleep and wake up the next morning (November 6th) take our time and get back on the road. We are going straight to DTD. We will meet up with the others who will be traveling from Illinois. Eat lunch at DTD and then head over to Animal Kingdom.
I am not sure about the CS places at Animal Kingdom. Is there any good ones?
My DM, DBFF, D2ndM, DD, and Myself are looking into Pedi's at The Grand Floridian. Then Dinner at O'Hana. After that we may make a quick stop at MK.
CS at Ak - lots of people like Yak and Yeti and we loved Flame TRee BBQ. People don't realize there is a TON of seating behind the restaurant that just goes on and on and on!
