Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Tell me about September in Disney

Please . We always visit WDW in November and have loved it (low crowds, great weather, and the Holiday decorations) I am considering the end of September 2011 since they are offering free dining then and MNSSHP, but DH is worried it will be too hot and Sept. is still hurricane season. Any advice would be great since going in Sept. we could stay at a deluxe for the price of staying at a Mod. For those of you who have been there in September please tell me the pros and cons of going this time of year. TIA Jen

We always go in September and love it. It is hot during the day but the evenings are mild, and at least you can take advantage of a pool. We went in November once and it was too cool for the pool and it rained the whole week. Yes, September is hurricane season, but pretty much half of the year down south is hurricane season, so it's a hit and miss. There will probably be pop-up rain showers, like most of the year. As long as you go after school starts and before the Food & Wine Festival, the crowds are usually pretty low. We booked our resort 3 1/2 weeks before our trip this year, so that tells me that September is going to be low crowds. It is a bummer to miss all the Christmas decorations. Enjoy your trip and your deluxe resort!!!

This will be our 3rd Sept in a row and I can't imagine going at any other time.
Temp is usually high 80's to low 90's. Yes it is hurricane season but it is close to the end and knock on wood we have had nothing but great weather.
Crowds are low, with very little waits for most rides. The Halloween decorations are beautiful. I would love to see the christmas decorations but can't imagine going when it is more likely to be chilly!!
I'd say go for it and do a Sept trip.

Absolutely do a September trip! This is our favorite time to go, for all of the above reasons. Kids are back in school, so low crowds, walk on rides, manangeable temps. Yes, the occasional rain shower, but we've never encountered anything we could not handle, and it has never detracted from the magic! Have fun!

Us too!

We've raved about it so much that my Aunt and Cousin have planned their vacation for September/October this year, too.

The past two years we've had a few rain storms, but nothing that's lasted all day. 30 minutes of the heaviest rain imaginable, and then it's over and done with.

THis year will be our 2nd September trip. WE LOVE IT. Yes it gets HOT but it is EMPTY! The pools are EMPTY too so we beat the heat that way.

MNSSHP is awesome and we can't wait to go back for that. You have to check it out at least once.

You will enjoy WDW in September, even if you do it just once!

We went in Sept of '08, as Hurricane Ike passed by. It was a little windy and rainy but that kept the heat down a little. We just wore ponchos and sandals and had a great time! We ate like pigs with the free dining, which we upgraded to deluxe....LOTS of food!!!
I would go in Sept. again. It was much more pleasant than the July trip I took! The crowds weren't terrible, but due to free dining it was not quiet either. Just go and be prepared for a little more heat, rain and crowds than you experience in Nov.
BTW I have visited WDW in Jan, Feb, March, April, May, June, July, Sept, and Nov. I am like you, I love Nov. it is the best for all the reasons you mentioned!
Go, enjoy that you can upgrade to a deluxe, and have a great time. If it is hot, just alternate cool indoor attractions with the warmer outdoor attractions, drink plenty of liquids and break as you need to. We also eat our large meal in the evening when it is cooler. If it is rainy, put a poncho on and have fun knowing the lines will be smaller! If the threat of a hurricane delaying your vacation concerns you, purchase travel insurance! No worries!
Have an awesome time!!!

Our last two trips we have gone in Oct 08 and Sept 09. Sept was very hot but crowds were low, it only rained two different days for a couple of hours and MNSSHP is awsome. We are booked in Sept. 2011 and would love to push it back to Nov to see the Christmas decorations but that would make the wait longer.

We went the last 2 years in Sept. It was hot and humid. But even with free dining, it was not crowded. And we did MNSSHP! The Fall decorations are beautiful. The only reason we are going in December this year is because we've never been when Christmas decorations are up and my mom can't handle the humidity right now due to health issues. We went swimming every day and took advantage of evening EMH.

Does anyone know if it makes a difference (crowds/weather) how late in Sept. you visit?

the weather can be hit or miss for september. i just got back yesterday and on the whole it was very pleasant weather-wise. not as humid. however, some septembers you would think it is still mid august with the heat and humidity. and yes, it can be still peak hurricane season and outside of affecting traveling in and out of orlando, it will not affect you. (since orlando is not on the coast, it will not sustain a direct hit like we get on the coast). i agree, hurricane insurance is best if it is a worry for you. crowds? hmmmm....what crowds? none to be seen really...except for the "usuals"....parade, fireworks, fantasmic and toy story. hubby and i walked down streets of america in dhs alone...ha ha ha...no one else around. anyway, the weather will still be warm, but it is do-able and i think you should consider it!

We have gone twice in September - around mid month or so. it's been hot and humid but very, very low crowds. Rain here and there but then it quickly clears up and heats up all over again.
