Board Walk Inn Deluxe Club VS Beach Club Garden view Club Level - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Board Walk Inn Deluxe Club VS Beach Club Garden view Club Level
Here I go again, comparing resorts!!! Currently myself and my 14 year old son are booked at Beach Club Garden View Club level room for our trip (February 5-10, 2011) I am having a hard time with the resort choice because both these resorts are calling out to me with their theme/ammenities/fun-factor!
BC PRO: This would be a new resort for us, I have never tried SAB, it looks beautiful and like a lot of fun! Close to DHS and Epcot (our favourite parks as well as many eateries in Epcot)
BOARDWALK PROS: Ambience of the Boardwalk theme....I love the seaside/carnie feel of the area. First time staying in Epcot area resort.
The clown pool doesn't scare me!! In fact, it looks like a blast!!! The slide even intrigues me more than SAB's slide....sooo fun!
Deluxe Club Level room/boardwalk view/CM's: I have read reviews and heard others RAVE about this experience!! I would love an
amazing view and the chance to be pampered by wonderful Club level CM's who take a genuine and personal interest in you and your family! Sounds like A++ customer service to me and I would love to experience it!
I would love to hear from others about your preferences/experiences.
Does anyone know if the Board Walk Inn Club Level has moved to piloting the lounge being open 24 hrs as the BC recently has??? Also is there hot Oatmeal and the fixings in the club lounge for breakfast??
TIA

Thanks!! for your recommendation! No one had posted yet today...so I went to trip advisor and read some reviews of BC...most people seem to ADORE it there. I agree it is the best of both worlds, I have decided to keep my BC reservation....thinking of upgrading my view from Garden view to Lagoon view though!

I have to say, BW is our DVC home, and that's where we always stay. A few in our party would like to try YC or BC, but we also LOVE the BW and everything about it.

I love the boardwalk too!! The ambience/theme is so interesting and just draws me in....so whimsical! I think, however I will save that resort for my "hopeful 25th anniversary trip" with just hubby and I in 5 years. For my son and I, I think BC will be the best bet for a teen boy! It helped talking about it to feel secure in my choice again Thank you all for listening!

The Beach Club is our favourite, so that instantly gets my vote. You'll get to enjoy Stormalong Bay - to me, that's enough of a good reason to stay there!
I'm going to be different here!! Go with the Boardwalk!!
You listed so many more pros than you did with the BC! You are going in Feb. And it could be really too cold to swim. I was there in March and it was so cold you could see your breath in the morning and the afternoon wasn't much better! Brr! Highs in the 60s! But I know that wasn't normal, just be prepared.
Okay, having stayed at the BWI Club Level I was excited when I had the opportunity to stay there again in the Deluxe room because they sleep 6. I jumped on it, all because of that view! Amazing
The quiet pool at the BWI is really pretty, and the Clown is fun themed as you said!
Both resorts are going to give you the same transportation to the parks of course, since the share buses. The walk to Epcot is a little closer from BC.
I don't remember if they had oatmeal, but they had wonderful fresh fruit, yogurt, cheese, ham and turkey and cold cereals for breakfast.
Can't comment on Club level at either, as we've only stayed non-concierge at both, but...
We loved both hotels, but for me, BC has the edge, just for SAB. It's not just slide - it's the whole pool that makes me want to go back. After a tough day at work, I come home and stand in a cool shower pretending I'm standing under the waterfall at SAB, or floating around the lazy river section (can't think of what it's really called). Weird, I know, but it gets me through. I also love the hot tubs/spas at SAB.
You can't go wrong with either, though.
BTW, what was that about BC piloting the 24-hour lounge? Is that still going on? We're staying Club level at BC for the first time in October, and 24-hour access would be great.

I think I am keeping with BC for SAB! I am excited, and my son wants to stay there too.....actually, he really wants AKL CL( which is where we have stayed our 2 previous trips, and LOVED)....but I am determined to try something new this trip!
I am sure he'll love the Epcot area resort and SAB! As for the new change to the Club level, a wonderful CM who works at YC/BC and posts on the Dis wrote the following (I just copied and pasted her response):
"They are running a test up on club level. The lounge will now be open with drinks and snacks all night long. So at 2 AM if you want a soda or iced tea, go for it! The lounge will still be closed during "change overs" but CMs are suppose to get you anything you need or would like during those few times that the lounge is closed for cleaning and change of items - JUST ASK! For those of you that are on club level, please, if you like this change, then make sure you tell a manager. Seek them out! Whether they are upstairs on the 5th floor or whether you need to find them in/around the lobby, make sure you let them know you like it. I have no idea how long this test period will last."
So.....this sounds like a VERY wonderful change for CL, and I really am one who hopes it lasts, at least until mid FEB when I am home from my trip!! If you enjoy the change, be sure to let the management know!! Who knows, it may become a permanent change if enough people love it!!!! I hope you have an amazing trip and that you LOVE your CL experience. Can you stop by and let me know what you thought when you get home??? I would love to hear your review!

I hope it lasts, too! DH and I are big on letting management know when we like something, or have a positive experience. I'm sure we'll enjoy this. Anytime I stay someplace with "perks" like evening drinks and snacks, I always seem to get there when it's over, so the 24-hour access would be perfect for us, even if it's just cookies and sodas.
I was already excited about staying CL and now I'm even more excited! I'll definitely post a review.
