As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Am I getting crazy with the whole planning? I have every meal planned out for everyday we are at the parks. Does anyone else do that? I feel like weon't have enough time at the parks to ride rides and see everything bc we have to worry about making it to our reservation on time. Pretty much all of the days I planned the meal in the same park we are going to be in but I think there is maybe one of those days where we will have to travel. I just hope I am not taking away from the time we spend in the parks enjoying everything. Hopefully, that time we go (Sept 7-24), the crowds wont be too long so we will have time to do everything!
I did the same thing for my honeymoon. Every meal was planned. Since it was just my DH and me, it worked out well. I liked knowing that I didn't have to wait in line at the last minute. However, this time, I'm our DD is going with us and I only have 1 meal planned for the day. I still like to have ideas in my head of when and where I want to eat, but only 1 ADR. All in all, it's your trip and you should do what you feel comfortable with.
Are your dates accurate and you're really going for 17 days?!? If so, you won't have any problems and I'm going to be totally jealous However, if you meant to say the 17th and not the 7th, you'll still have a full week at the happy place, no problem with fitting in all the fun Besides, all your planning takes away from the agonizing question (and waste of time) of where we eating?? You've figured it all out
I like to plan out our ADRs around which parks we'll be in also, and I usually end up with one or two at parks we have to hop to...never a problem. Enjoy your time, whether it be 17 days or 7!
I love the idea of having built-in breaks for the day, so I planned all three meals for each day we're in the World. You're not crazy by any means!!
But, be flexible. If you get to the World and the constant stopping to eat is taking too much time from your fun, then just call WDW Dining, cancel your ADRs and eat on the fly.
I am one who always plans out meals in advance, because all of my boys (DH especially!!) function much better if they remain well fed That being said, we always go in with the attitude that we can change our minds and stop for a counter service meal if we want. That relaxed attitude always keeps us in vacation mode instead of commando mode! As long as it's a normal ADR and not something special (like a Cinderella's Royal Table or Signature Dining), the system is designed to not be affected if you miss your time.
Don't get me wrong, I don't make a ton of ADR's I don't intend to use!! We just give ourselves the option of changing our minds once or twice if we'd rather keep riding rides or swimming in the pool, and that helps us stay relaxed. I know the parks and our family's style so well that we do make 99.9% of the reservations
Yes, I did mean the 17-24 not the 7-24. And the only special meal we have planned is CRT for lunch. Everything else is pretty casual. I know we will have a good time regardless, we always do, but I was just overthinking things I guess.
I think I decided that I am going to do mainly brunches. . . then we can grab a quick snack in am on the go, a bagel or croissant or something. I am excited about that! I only have 2 days of three meals, it is tempting though!

There's no wrong way to do it!! You have to do what's right for you and your family!!!
I am a BEAST without breakfast, so we do breakfast. Sounds like you only need a little fuel to get you going in the morning, so you should be fine with grab-and-go. There's no WRONG way to do Disney.
We've been to Disney so many times that the only thing I plan is our dinners. When we have AP's we usually go to the parks for a few hours to hit our favorites.
I think you will be fine. It is best to have plans but also don't stress out if you can't adhere to them all. We have a toddler and they sleep and eat when they want, not really easy to plan around. If the meal plans are at TS places and require cancellation obviously try to make those but CS is no big deal.
I do the same thing. I plan what restaurants I want to go to first, then plan my days and fit the ADR's into them. I plan to eat at the park we are in for the day, although for a couple we have had to travel. Which is fine for us, because we like to go back to the resort for a mid afternoon break, so we can plan one park in the morning and one at night.
Which works out perfectly as I find my DH and DD have a hard time being at one park all day and night, unless it's MK.
We only do one half day the whole trip for DHS, we don't enjoy this park as much. AK is a morning park for us, as it closes early. So we spend a lot of time with Epcot/MK days, which is morning and which is evening depends on EMH and ADR's.
We also like to do dinner shows on the DHS or AK days.
We like to have the time to sit, relax, and cool off. So I like to plan 2 ADR's a day and I try to do breakfast and dinner, but I don't religiously stick to that. I do however stick to at least one ADR each day.
We enjoy our TS meals very much as for my family it is part of the vacation. We don't eat out at TS at home very often, we can't afford it. So when we are in "the world" one of the things we look forward to is all the restaurants, instead of the standard MickeyD's, BK, and Wendy's (the only fast food places where we live).
