As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I know there are a ton of threads about the best footwear to tour the parks with, but has anyone used the Teva flip flops? Specifically, Teva Mush?
I hate crocs (I know, I'm the lone hater), but I'm looking for a flip flop (or worst case scenario, a sandal) that can hold up with the massive walking done in WDW.
A huge concern for me is likelihood of blisters. Last year in WDW I developed a blister so severe on the bottom of my foot that I needed a wheelchair for a couple days.
If anyone's used these flip flops, or has a suggestion for a good flop/sandal that's comfortable, not really blister-inducing and sturdy for the parks, I'd really appreciate hearing it!
I just threw out my first pair of Teva Mush flip flops. I did not like them at all. They weren't bad, just not particularly comfortable. On the other hand, I walked the parks last year in my Reef flip flops. I love them. I also just bought Chaco flips, but I'm not sure about WDW walking in them yet. I say try the Reefs!
I wore Teva Flipflops for the last two WDW trips (10 days and 13 days). With the exception of one or two rainy days, I wore them every day.
I had no problems and loved them! I did, however, rotate between two different styles. One had the single toe strap (Teva Mush) and one pair had two side straps that are thinner. This varied the "pressure" point and I never received a blister.
I would also recommend taking Band Aid Blister care products - just in case. Regardless of the shoe, blisters may happen. These can be taken care of or prevented with these helpful products.
Hope you are blister-free this trip!

I had 2 pair of Teva Mush flip flops that I wore for 12 days on our last trip. I never had a problem. I love them! 1 pair had the single strap and the other pair had several straps.
You are not the lone Croc hater! I am with you! My feet just don't feel right in them (and I'm not particularly fond of how they look on me).
I am a huge fan of Teva Flip Flops. I have had them for the last two trips and they have been great! I still wear them frequently, although I am now splitting my time in them with my new Birkenstocks. Being from CT, I don't have to worry too much about the rain. In WDW, the Tevas are my choice because they are fine in the daily rain.

Living out a childhood dream during my summer 2015 trip to WDW. Is it time to go back yet?

I own at least 6 pairs of Teva Mush Flip Flops - some of which I've had for over 3 years. Everyone has different taste in shoes, but I really like these and have worn them on every trip to WDW since 2006. They are my primary footware there as well as every day from May to October. They have a good arch support (for flip flops), soft thing between the toes, and the footbed is VERY well cushioned. When you first buy them they are sometimes a little snug, but they loosen up as you wear them and they contour to your foot. If you want to use them I'd buy some now and wear them before you go on your trip. Of course I do that with any new shoes before a trip.

My daughter wears TEVA flip flops and loves them. She has worn them the past two years for our Disney trips and just bought a new pair for our upcoming trip next month. She is very comfortable in them with no problems.
I hate crocs too. I have 2 pairs of Teva mush flip flops that I love. I also just got a pair of Reef flip flops that are awesome. I will be taking my Teva's to DW when we go in Sept. Highly recommend them!!
Croc Hater here!! Teva Lover!! I have several pairs of the mush, and I have a bunch of the other flip flop styles. I've never had a problem with blisters with them, and also where them pretty much everywhere for 6 months of the year.
Disney won't be a problem. I wore a pair of old ones in Rome on cobblestones for a whole day and had no problems at all (this was when my leather sandals that looked much more Italian were causing me trouble...I switched and the mush was my best friend!).

Not sure about Tevas but I just got a pair of Chaco flip flops at REI this summer and have been breaking them in for our trip next month. They have stood up pretty well to hours at DL with no problem, the sole has bumps that feel like you've had a foot massage when you take them off which I thought would make blisters but Nope! AND they are really good shoes to prevent pronating (basically protects your arch, and aligns everything up your legs and back). Our Dr recommended them, we have foot problems in our family and these things are AWESOME!!
I just picked up Teva olowahu flip flops because some of really cheap flip flops had irritated a spot on my foot. These have multiple straps and are a good alternative it you want to change where pressure is placed on your foot. They took a day or two to break in but are very comfortable. I have also had good luck with Reef sandals, which were the preferred brand of my son when he was a life guard.
I have flip flopped around WDW many times and haven't had a problem. I even did one trip in a pair I picked up while there-a pretty basic and not very thick sandal.
I would wear them and see what feels best.
I also second Bandaid blister relief pads-they really make blisters feel better right away.
