As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

So... there is the slight possibly that I may be pregnant. If this is true, my DH wants to cancel our trip to WDW next month because he doesn't think that there is anything that I will be able to do and that we won't have a good time. I don't know what to do! HELP!
ummm...why? It isn't as if you are going to go from slightest possibility you may be pregnant to full-blown pain in the you know what pregnant in a month...
the only way I could see canceling is if you are high risk...
if you are only going to be a few months along...and you feel up to it...then you can do a lot there...it isn't just about the rides...there is so much to see and do...
Don't get me wrong. It is very sweet he is that concerned...but it makes my eye twitch that people still insist on treating a pregnant woman like she is as fragile as bone china...we're built for it for crying out loud...
You might want to avoid some of the jerkier rides, but honestly, at slightly pregnant, there's really nothing you have to be careful of, other than alcohol. That's a big no-no.
Look at it this way:
Not that long ago, most women didn't know they were pregnant until they were about 3 or 4 months along. They might suspect at 2 months, but not have it confirmed until 3 or 4. They never stopped doing anything.
Since you've been before, ask him to write down what he likes doing there. I bet he comes up with a lot more than "Ride fast rides"!
Ok, I am looking at your siggy and ticker and so I am guessing that this IS your first baby?? Looks like you will be around 8 or 9 weeks when your trip comes around? Here is the truth about you can expect on this trip. You are going to be tired...very tired and if you get morning sickness it will probably be just getting bad. Both of those things ARE something to consider. Would I cancel? Nope. But, I have had 6 babies and have a very good idea of what I can handle and what I can't. Is there anyway you could maybe push your trip back a couple of months? If so, I *might* consider doing that for a couple of reasons...the weather might be cooler and your m/s should be about over. Also, you will find you have a little more energy once you hit the beginning of your 2nd trimester. Just some thoughts...
I went to Disney when I was 6 months pregnant and had fun. Granted I couldnt ride a lot of rides because I carry really big but it was great. The only thing was my sister made me get a wheelchair and honestly I did welcome it later on it the day. I certainly wouldnt cancel it at just 2 or 3 months pregnant.
I went in June (um, that was 16 years ago) when I was 8 weeks pregnant. Just be sure to listen to your body and rest when you are tired, drink plenty of water and relax! Take advantage of the shows and EMH for the cooler times of the day. Unless you are high risk, you should be fine.
Thanks everyone! We don't know for sure if we are, I can't even test yet. I have just been feeling really strange and it seems like signs of pregnancy. We aren't trying yet, but we stopped BC and may have had an oopsie moment a couple weeks ago.... so things aren't written in stone yet. I really appreciate all of the help and support!
Don't cancel, like others have said drink plenty of fluids and rest often. Seems you may only be a few months along by your trip and unless your high risk there is still much to do when you are a even a "little pregnant"
I just got back from the world two weeks ago. I was there from 27-28 weeks. There were a lot of rides I could go on. Was I tired? Yeah, but we had tons of fun. And if I would of been 8-9 weeks I could of gone on even more, since at that point the baby is the most protected.
We are also going to Disneyland in September (we are moving to CA in august). We will be going 23 days before my duedate. lol.
I would go while you can. Once the baby is born it might be a while before you
can go and also you and your DH will be able to enjoy a "last adult only" vacation.
I agree, don't cancel! There will still be plenty you can do. As long as you stay hydrated and take it easy, you will be fine!
I know how you feel - we just recently found out we're expecting baby #2 (surprise! ), so I've been looking at AllEars Expectant Mothers page and familiarizing myself w/ the restricted rides and such. I'm gonna take a close look at my dining plans too, as I had food aversions, rather than cravings, with DD - and I want to make sure there are plenty of vegetarian options as meat is my major aversion.
I would go anyways. As everyone said, there is much you can do and enjoy.
Quite honestly, if you are PG, (and congrats if you are!!), this may be the time to go!!!! Taking a new born or toddler is a different kind of Disney trip (still do-able and still magical...but somewhat more restricted). Now is the time to go and have fun!
Best wishes!
