As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Okay it's almost time for our vacation and now I'm having second thoughts about our ADR's. I'm trying to find a way to squeeze in Yak & Yeti.
Here are our plans so far:
7/4 arrival day- we don't have any adr's for this day since we want to be able to just swim & relax
7/5 we have the DXDDP this first day;
1900 Park Fare for breakfast with my DSis and her family
Flying Fish dinner by ourselves (first signature restaurant ever and we are taking our boys
7/6 we have the basice DDP the rest of the trip
Playhouse Disney breakfast
50's Primetime dinner
7/7 Crystal Palace breakfast
Chef Mickey's dinner with Dsis
7/8 TH lunch with reserved seating for Nemo
Wishes Dessert Party
7/9 Tutto Italia dinner
7/10 'Ohana breakfast (our favorite)
7/11 Mama Melrose with Fantasmic Pkg.
7/12 T-Rex lunch (never been and DS4 is dying to go there)
7/13 Sci-Fi dinner
7/14 Garden Grill dinner
7/15 LTT lunch
The Plaza dinner
7/16 departure day with Boma breakfast
Okay here is my dilemna: We have 14 TS credits in total. As it stands now, we would have to either pay OOP for some or cancel some (the above plan uses 16 TS credits, I know TRex will be OOP). The other problem is that I really, really want to try Yak&Yeti. My question is should I cancel Flying Fish and book 2 restaurants in its place or should I cancel something else to fit in Flying Fish. Also, I am thinking of either cancelling LTT lunch or The Plaza dinner on 7/15 (which would you cancel?)
Sorry if I confuse anyone. I just would really like to hear your opinions. Thanks.
I wouldn't cancel FFC! I would cancel The Plaza or just pay OOP (it's not a good value on the DDP anyway). Or just eat CS at Y&Y from the takeout window!
If you want to eat from the Yak and Yeti you could grab CS from the outside Local Cafe. We LOVE Y&Y and have found that what we can get outside is just as good as what we get inside... for me it's the sweet and sour pork and DH and I split the egg rolls.

I think I will cancel The Plaza. I would get Y&Y CS but I really want the friend wonton dessert and I don't think they have them there, lol. I know, I'm a pig.

Do you know if they sell the fried wonton dessert there?
I am kinda having the same problem but giving up TWO ADR's for FFC. Do you have two different reservations? How were you able to do the DxDP for one day and then DDP for the rest. This may be something that we would like to do on our holiday trip. Wouldn't you have to use all of your DxDP credits by midnight of your second day??
Cancel Plaza dinner...but I have to add, y & y wasn't any better than our local asian places. I dunno that it's worth shuffling things around for.
I was underwhelmed by Yak & Yeti myself and was thinking exactly the same thing. I could miss out on Y&Y and feel okay. Flying Fish, on the other hand, NO WAY! I'd go there every time!
I do, however, understand the need to sample a food you saw here or posted elsewhere. I do that all the time. The quest for... <insert item here> The fried wonton dessert does sound yummy!
Everyone gets a real app. (even the kids on the kid plan get one from the adult menu)
Lettuce cups Lettuce cups lettuce cups. The wantons were good but I still want those lettuce cups.
Better use of the plan over plaza.
Plaza offers standard foods Yak and yeti has some interesting things
The kids menu has more then pizza and nuggets big plus for my kids. They were excited for egg rolls and lo mein (they got one of each and shared).
I know it's not all authentic but it was good. The kids loved the rice (I gave them mine so I can't tell you how it was)
I don't think canceling FF would help unless you went that day since you only have the deluxe for that day. IE you would have to fill FF with 2 that day. Or move things all around. Pain.

Do NOT Cancel FF!!! It's amazing.
Cancel Plaza but keep LLT ~ that's an excellent lunch. Exactly what day are you going to be at AK to put Y&Y on? Or are you deciding dining first and then working parks around it?
As far as Y&Y goes, we were there in Dec. I will go again just because of the limitations of sit down restaurants in the AK....but that is the only reason. It was just ok. We have an Asian restaurant near our home that is far superior. I* had the wontons for dessert (was one of my motivators for eating there) and I fear you will be dissapointed as I was. In my trip report there is a review and pictures of our meal there if your interested. The link is here by my signature.
Hope you enjoy wantever you choose.
