Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

June 13 - 15, 2010 Vera's Summer Night Adventure

Who: Vera is 84 years old and in a wheelchair. She has a few quirks but is very mentally alert, helpful, and has a child like wonder for the parks. She loves plushies and Disney as well as people watching.
Laurie is a cranky 52 year old with celiac, food allergies, quirks, and limits on walking.
When: June 13 through the 15th at the Disneyland Hotel. Half of the trip is paid for and a disable room with a roll in shower was requested. This is our second stay there and Mom is looking forward to the trip.
Travel Plans: We will be using my rusty old car to make the ten mile trip and leave it with valet parking probably or park on site. A long long trip.

Schedule:
June 13, 2010
Leave home around 9:30 am
Arrive at DLH at 10:00 am and check in
either go to our room to unpack or go to a park for lunch then check in.
5:00 pm dinner at Ariel's Grotto
9:00 pm World of Color reserved seating
Back to our room and finish unpacking. Set up a snack for Mom for midnight.

June 14, 2010
Breakfast at 5:30 am and not sure what to do for that, it is set in stone.
Do parks and pick up tickets for Fantasmic boxed seating.
Back to the hotel to rest
5:30 pm dinner shared at Steakhouse 55
8:00 pm arrive for Fantasmic desserts and reserved seating.

June 15, 2010
Breakfast at 5:30 am and not sure what to do for that, it is set in stone.
check out
Do parks
this day is up in the air and I am hoping for lunch at Taste Pilots and dinner at Plaza Inn.

We rarely have a set schedule on what we must do. I want to ride some rides for once and for us to do Toy Story Mania. We will probably do Small World like usual.

Finances are going to be very tight and I am praying for a winning lottery ticket. I have half the room paid and the Fantasmic paid. I am cutting back on my online games. That is about it for now. We have one week until the big trip and I am not packed yet, need to sort through clothes, and do laundry. EGADs what to wear as I cannot find all of my sweatshirts.

Hi Laurie!

Well, I will definitely get to thank you in person because we will be at the F! Dessert on the 14th. Hoping you could give me a good run down of AG/WoC since we have ressies there on the 15th.

Set a time and would love to meet you Dani.

Plans, giggles hysterically.

My List
Pay bills
contact a magazine about something
online gaming codes
health issues that just came up for me like usual
check restaurant reservations
clean car
fix trunk, any locksmiths out there that can get a broken key out of a lock?
packing
organize clothing, I know I have more sweatshirts
wash everything in my half of the house as I am not sure which clothes is clean.
water plants
SHOPPING at CVS, Whole Foods Market, Ralph's and maybe 3 other grocers
fill up the car with water before trips.
Wash car windows on the inside, inside is dirtier than outside.
put new shoes in car. The ones hanging on the bookcase for a year.
Print out documents for the trip
Find a rich relative
Win an online sweepstakes
wash blankets for the trip as Fantasmic is very cold
catch up on beauty stuff like cutting my hair.
Make notes on what is open and closed when we go.

There is more but that is a partial list, lol. I worry about my health as I walk up to 3 miles over 8 hours in a day and the stress is hard on me. It takes me up to a week to recover from a Mom and Me trip. It is worth the pain and stress as she is happy. If you love someone then you will do almost anything to make them happy.

Mark Twain, Jungle Cruise, Captain Eo, Toy Story Mania, Star Tours one last tme before they change it, Mr. Lincoln, Flag Retreat, Small World, parades, Hillbillies, Farley, Columbia for me, rides for me, train, monorail and if finances are really sound we get books for her. That is our list of to do things.

A wise person once told me to use my spoons wisely!

I hope you can get it all done and enjoy your time at DLR, too.

I am using them spoons wisely but am going too slow. Shopping and laundry is done. I have the reservation letter from DLH in front of me. I double checked restaurant reservations to make sure we were booked properly.

I prefer doing trips at the beginning of the month when we have money. However I think people need to plan trips around their real life schedule. Stress is highest for us at the first week of the month when I pay the bills, do car and home repairs, and do shopping. I left at 7:30 pm and got home 15 minutes past midnight. I stopped for midnight snack at BJ's which has excellent pizza including gluten free. That let me rest and get back one or two spoons. A trip to Long Beach then BJ's then Ralph's then home to unload the perishables and pack perishables in the fridge. That is were trip planning comes into play because I still have to empty the car of groceries and put the groceries away. I would be out of spoons before leaving today for a trip. Look at your schedule to see when you are busiest and what would be best for you.

WE have free samples of cereal so I need to buy later this week a pint of milk for her breakfast. I will have to make sure I include paperware and plasticware. She has to eat at 5:30 am PDT even if she were in Bangkok because of her dietary schedule as she has diabetes which is well maintained.

Definitely I have to look at the schedule and try to get Mom to Toy Story Mania early in the day. I still wish she would learn to use a scooter.

Hugs and thanks for the prayers. The groceries were less than I thought they would be but I still need to find Lays chips in multi packs but individual, cheap chicken breasts, and personal items. So far finances are squeaking by.

Plan A is for me to get the trunk fixed.
Plan B is to pack the car's back seat with a wheelchair, two suitcases, 2 blankets, extra pillows, toiletry bag, snacks, and more. Nissan was made for very small people so it is going to be fun packing the car. Also I have to get a new water container and jam those in the back seat. This is so much fun and like a jigsaw puzzle.

I baked us some applesauce, apple pie spice, yellow cake mix things and maybe should make some for the trip. I like the main building but would like to be in the south building then we can walk a block to DCA then to Disneyland. GCH was my wish but we cannot afford that other than one night and we are there to take things slowly so DLH will give us two nights to see what she never sees.

I am doing a lot of midnight chores like kitchen cleaning, packing meat for freezing, and laundry but slowly things are getting done. OMG so few days and the list is growing.

Need to find a wedge bolster for Mom.

Mom was eating her rocky road ice cream and said "Goggles"
I was watching her eating and stared. She explained that I was going to have to strap her to the hood of the car and she would need goggles. How far would we get with her strapped to the hood of the car.

OK, packing and preparing for the trip is slow going and I am behind schedule. All I need is a comedian to hit me with punch lines implying that I am not going to squeeze a wheelchair, 2 gallons of water, 2 suitcases, blankets, bags of snacks, and pillows into the back seat of our tiny car. WAH, she do have faith in me. I need to get a digital camera or buy a tosser but I have some from Halloween that are not developed.

Laundry is done
I have a bag on the dresser in the dining room for food and stuff.
In the dining room is the bag for toothpaste and other personal stuff.
In the dining room next to the bag is a strawberry carton for holding spoons and small things until I get them in a baggie.

Mom is ready but not I.

Hugs for you Dani and I lost the list.
Finances are very tight for us. I have the paperwork in my bag.

To do list
CVS shopping
Wedge pillow for Mom
packing food
packing personal bag
packing my suitcase
getting Mom her suitcase
fill car with water, checked the fluids already
empty purse and bag I use in park
stock bag and purse with gloves, rolaids, tissues, and lots of plastic bags
get a camera
bring in last of laundry, try to wash some blankets
clean car out
do lots of Pogo gaming
check schedules for the days we are in the parks
I am thinking about preparing the day before all the cold stuff I have to pack from the fridge.

That is about it. I have added touring the hotel grounds one last time. I must go to the pool. I should by some shorts for swimming which I have not done in 40 years probably. No slides, me chicken and I float not swim. I want to make this a last farewell to Croc's Bits, Hook's Point, the glass shop, the arcade, and wine cellar.

I hope to see you Dani in the park. I have no cell phone but anyone wanting a meeting let me know and use email if possible.

I am going to bed after a very stressful dinner. Mom finally understood that it is one tiny, actually the second smaller, suitcase just for her clothes. The big one has my clothes and all medical stuff. One bag for parks and my purse. One shopping tote bag for paper towels, baggies, spoons, plates, etc.

I forgot something very important for the list.

Unpack the suit case. I just found a big pile of stuff from the last vacation including a hotel shower cap in its little box.

add to list hiding the keyboard and computer.
Maybe we will see you there.
