As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

I have a 110 yr-old house in the historic district in the town where I used to live (about 30 mins from where I live now). I haven't lived there for a long time b/c I lived w/ DH for several years before we were married. I rented out the upstairs apartment, but my last tenant moved out like 3 years ago, so it's pretty much just been a place to keep all the furniture and stuff I've acquired over the years that I didn't drag w/ me to DH's. This included my Kawasaki 454 motorcycle that was parked in the backyard. It hasn't run for a long time, but I figured someday I'd get it fixed up and hit the open road again with the wind in my hair...
So the other day the guy who's been doing some work on the house, fixing it up a bit so I can put it on the market, who happens to work w/ DH at caterings, asked DH if I'd gotten the bike running. DH said "no", and he said, "well, it's gone". So DH went and checked it out for me and lo and behold, it's gone.
I have no idea exactly when it disappeared, as my handy-man hasn't been there in several weeks (he's doing this for me part-time). DH said there were a couple of college guys who used to live next door who asked him several times (when he was there to check things out for me) if I would sell it. DH always said "no, she's not interested in selling," so I'm wondering if they might have "liberated" it. If they didn't, somebody did.
So what do I do now? I've kept it insured, but since I don't have a clue as to when it was taken, can I still file a claim? I have a friend on the city police force who could probably make a report for me. It just sounds so stupid - "no, no one has lived there for 3 years," "no, the bike wasn't running," "no, I don't know when it might have been stolen - sometime between February and April - is that specific enough?" It was really old, so it's probably worth about $50 - for which I've paid $250 a year for insurance for all these years.
Any ideas?
(Okay, in case you're wondering: I didn't want to sell the house til DH & I got married, just in case I needed a place to live; no, I don't go there very often - it has a lot of bad memories for me from before I met DH - in fact, I hate the place and can't wait to get rid of it; yes, that's bizarre and I'm sure therapy would help.)

I had one stolen out of my driveway about 10 years ago. Had a ton of pics of it and was surprised how much ins. paid out
Also tell the police about the kids asking about it

If it's a smalllish town, the police may spot it for you. Can't be too many of those babies on the road. Can't imagine that they would strip it for parts. Sorry it happened. Being a theft victim just stinks.
I'd turn in the claim. My mother once had a cop call to tell her that one of her cars had been stolen! She had left it at the shop, they finished and put it in the parking lot. Mom forgot about it, and 6 months or so later, got that call.
The insurance still paid out - and mom had no clue when the car was stolen.
File the claim, call the cops. It's still YOUR property and no-one had the right to take it.

This is no diff than if you had it in storage and you didn't know it had been stolen until you went to get it out. Every year things like motorcycles, boats, and RVs come up missing from storage lots all over the country. The lot owners often assume that the property owners have moved the item. Since they owner will still need storage the bill stays pain until the item has been discovered missing.
File the report as well as the claim. What's the worst they can tell you. "Sorry. We can't help you."? Then you wouldn't be any worse off than you are now, right?

I would definitely file a claim - you have a time frame of when it was taken and that's what you paid insurance for.
