As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

We took one stroller to WDW last February. Our DS spent a lot of time in it and DH spent a lot of time carrying DD. We don't want to repeat that scenario this year!
We have a Maclaren stroller for our DD4. It works great for travel!
Our DS6 gets tired easily, for health reasons, and will probably need use of a stroller too. Are there any lightweight umbrella type strollers that will hold a tall, 57lb, 6 year old?(He is 100% on the charts for height and weight! )
Would it be better to rent a double stroller for the length of stay? My concern is that we won't have strollers outside of the parks to get back to our room.

Or you could find a Sit n' Stand stroller at garage sales or on Craig's List. Your
kids could take turns sitting in the back and the front. You could rent the double
in the parks but you wouldn't have it for the resort.

I second the notion to rent a stroller from off-property. I haven't had to rent one, but I know lots of people on the boards have. I'm sure there are several people that could give you excellent recommendations of who to rent from.
On our last trip we had our 6 year olds (almost 7) walk and put our 4 year old in the carriage. As the day progressed, sometimes one of them would get cranky or tired. When that happened either my husband or I would walk near the front gate of the resort and sit for awhile with the cranky one. This got a little rest for the one in need. We also got a bonus. 4 out of 7 days someone offered us their stroller on their way out of the park. (We made sure to return the favor to someone else).
Sometimes we would take the 4 year old out of the stroller for awhile and make him walk (and get a little exercise) while an older sibling took a short break.
We would also head towards a LONG ride (like Ellen's or Hall of Presidents or Lion King) when someone would start showing signs of tiredness. By saving those longer attractions for later when we'd need them we saved a lot of money on strollers.
You can also ask at the front desk of your resort or ask Mousekeeping (if you find that your older child is always getting tired) and they MAY have a discarded stroller available. Now this is a LONG SHOT, but we have been lucky once with this one. We returned the stroller to them at the end of the day.
We just purchased a double stroller for the kids, and its almost the size of our umbrella stroller folded up. Its a Combi and I think it'll hold around 60 lbs. DD love it at the store and took it for a test drive. But there are some cheap strollers that will hold him, just head to the internet to find them, and then start searching locally. We have a lot of consignment stores around here that have great prices on the sit and stands, which I agree would be really nice for you as you can use it in the airport and moving around outside the parks.
If you don't want to purchase do rent one off site, but I did the math and the amount I would have paid for renting was shy of what I could buy one for.

A very long time ago we had a double stroller from Graco for my DS & DD we dubbed "the gunboat." Looked huge, and had a full cargo space under the seats, but you stepped on a pedal & it collapsed flat. Wasn't all that heavy. I'd look for something like that. I'd only recommend renting offsite if you will be flying & really don't want to lug a stroller on the plane. As was mentioned above, renting costs a bit even at the parks and you're better off buying in the long run.
We used Magic Strollers www.magicstrollers.com (they are from the "Owners Locker company") with great success. They deliver them to your resort and pick up after you depart. While we just used a single, I have friends who recently used a double and they were also pleased.
