Progressing with EA Sports and Wii Fit Plus! - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

So, a week into my new adventures with EA Sports and Wii Fit Plus, I did my body check again. Well, I didn't quite understand one of the things it wanted me to do on it, so I kinda bombed the test and it said my Wii age was 57!! UH OH!! But, since I didn't quite "get" what it was wanting me to do, I'm not worrying about that! Now for the GOOD NEWS!! I dropped 3 lbs!! YAY!!! I'm small, so I watch my weight very closely b/c every pound shows on me! I had put on 10 lbs during the holiday season b/c I just pretty much ate everything in site! Now I'm 1/3 of the way to being back down to where I was the end of the summer when I looked at my absolute best ever!! My pants don't feel snug in my middle anymore either! I've been moderating my eating as well, but not obsessively. Mostly just been working out about a total of an hour 5 to 6 days a week. It was saying originally I was "at risk" for being overweight, now it says I'm normal again!! When you're only 4'11", there isn't a lot of wiggle room between normal and overweight! But I'm happy to say I'm once again "normal"!! I'll check back in next week and share if I continue to drop or those pounds somehow catch up to me again! Oh, and on a side note, my ds2 has been doing the workouts as well. He is showing progress, too! In fact, yesterday was my "rest" day and he STILL drug me into the living room to do the Wii Fit Plus with him!! Too funny! I was winning on the obstacle course for a while, then he kicked my hiney!! Oh well!

Congrats Jodi! I was using my Wii before my June 09 trip and haven't been on it since we got back. It was alot of fun and miss some of the games like the ski jump.
It told me I was in my 50's too - ugh! I'm not quite 40 yet. I did start a new program the last week of January and have lost about 5lbs. It would have been slightly more but my uncle was married Valentine's weekend and I have bad self-discipline.
Congrats! I love EA Active- I have the Wii Fit and Fit Plus, but really like the Active so much more. And it can get addictive- especially if you do the 30 day challenges. I lost 50 pounds using it from June to Dec. And I keep it up just to keep the weight off. Keep up the good work!

WOW!!! 50 lbs?? That's AMAZING!!! I lost 54 lbs 18 months ago (or maybe closer to 2 years now??), but it too almost a year to do!! I used my treadmill and a few other things back then as well as weight watchers (all by myself, no meetings, not even the online thing) but with a lot of support for my boys and dh. This time losing the 10 lbs has been harder than the 54 b/c dh has been slightly less helpful. He still cooks in healthier ways which is awesome, but he has gotten back into the habit of eating all sorts of junk in bed right next to me! Talk about wanting to kick someone! I'm really trying to get him to stop, but he isn't budging on it right now! And yet, he stays fairly thin! A little tummy, but not a big guy by any means! How wrong is that?? And when I say junk, I mean junk!! Like cookies and milk, ice cream, peanut butter and crackers, pepperoni, candy, etc! I guess he's just building my willpower!! The good news is that this is his busy travelling season coming up, so he won't be home much of the time to tempt me! Maybe THAT'S why I'm slimmer in the warm months!! But hopefully me doing the Sports Active and Wii Fit Plus in the evenings where I don't spend as much time watching tv in bed will alleviate the problem all together!! I just know I don't EVER want to be round again!! I NEVER want to have to lose 54 lbs again!! WAY too much work!!!

My DH is the same way - He hates anything but meat and potatoes, literally. He never ate any vegetable other than corn and potatoes when I met him. He doesn't cook for us (DD and me) cause if he did, we would eat processed everything, hot dogs, lunch meat, already prepared chicken patties, fish sticks, canned soup, canned chili, etc. UGH!!! I almost feel bad for him when I make dinner cause he only eats the "meat" and then makes himself lettuce and blue cheese dressing as a salad since he won't eat squash, spinach, asparagus, zuccinni, cooked carrots, etc. And he will go through an ENTIRE 20oz bag of M&Ms in less than a week. He pours himself a container full when he gets home and grazes on them until dinner - eats barely anything cause he don't like it - and then grazes on them until bedtime. He will also eat about 3 bowls of ice cream and chocolate sauce a week. NEVER GAINS A POUND!!!!!
If I did that - I would be atleast 100lbs more than I am.

I'm glad I'm not alone in the world! When we got married, dh only ate meat and potatoes, too! Oh, and bread! However, when he took the position he is in now where he travels a lot and eats out a lot and with a lot of different people, things changed a lot! My years of nagging made no difference, but having coworkers tease him and pick on him for not even TRYING anything new DID work! He has discovered that broccoli isn't a terrible thing if mixed into a pasta dish, he eats cobblers now, too! And he eats quite a few other new things, too! I'm so proud of him! He's a good cook, too. He likes to do stuff from scratch, so that's kinda cool! And he's good about doing things like making me a veggie section if he makes homemade pizza, etc. He will even cut up the veggies these days (something that 3 yrs ago would NOT have been done b/c it would have meant actually TOUCHING vegetables!). So, he's getting better. But he's still a junk food junkie! His current favorite thing is Munchies! He eats like 3 or 4 bags a week when he is home! UGH! And, in bed, right next to me! JINKIES!! I just keep telling myself to be strong.......
