Any rides with the slightest chance of water or getting wet - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Any rides with the slightest chance of water or getting wet
There was a question on the GAC thread about the use of misters, as the poster's daughter has sensory issues and her daughter is terrfied of water, sprinklers, etc.
Other than the obvious water ride, like Splash Mountain, what other rides do you get wet in?
MK - Phlharmagic has bubbles, does it have water?
Jungle Cruise - They "pretend" to spray you with the elephants, which could terrify her.
Pirates - You can get splashed at the drop, the "battle" scene, and the fog screen.
BTMRR - You can get wet at the top of the drop in the caves.
In DHS - There is water in the Muppets movie
Can others help me out with the other parks and any other rides? This may be useful for other people too...

Philharmagic - yes, you get sprinkled with water. Same with Voyage of the Little Mermaid at HS. Kali River Rapids - possibility of getting soaked.
There are also misters in the parks - like the ones over by Ellen's Energy in EPCOT, Pooh's Playful Spot in MK, Donald's Boat in Toontown, Ariel's Grotto. Any of the fountain areas in EPCOT could get someone misted if it is windy.
The Magic Carpets have a spitting camel along side of the carpets - you don't get wet but you do see them spitting the water.
There is also a water gun in the Honey, I Shrunk the Kids playground and a water mister in the Dinoland playground.

Splash Mountain - definitely,
Kali River Rapids at AK - most definitely with the possibility of getting soaked!
Philharmagic/Voyage of a Little Mermaid/Honey I Shrunk the Kids & It's tough to be a bug all have some spray during the show.
I don't remember getting wet at Pirates, but the small drop is in complete darkness (with the sound of water), so it may be an issue.
We did have a few drops on BTMRR at the top of the first hill.
I don't remember water in the Muppets, but I was tired when we went, so I don't remember much.
I'm so sorry your daughter has such issues with misters and water.
You mentioned misters...is it mist or water? So many attractions have misters...Universe of Energy, Dinosaur, Spaceship Earth has that misty, musty smell.
Disney is SUCH a multi-sensory place, that it will be tough to keep away from mists, I think.
I've never met your DD, so I'm not sure if this would be a solution, but maybe giving her a towel might help (for the quick, slightly "misty" attractions so she can cover her face if she feels the need to).
Do you think empowering her in that way could help the situation?
Sorry for any confusion - this is not my daughter I am talking about, but Moondaisy's - she asked this question in the GAC thread, and I thought she would get more of an answer here. Thanks!
Doesn't Stitch at MK "spit" water too? I was thinking that it does.
We have always had to worry about water on rides due to our son's hearing aids. If we ever have doubt we've asked the CM at the entrance to the ride.
This year though.....new waterproof hearing aids The small amounts of water we'll encounter won't do any harm to his aids!

Imo the "stink bug" effect at It's Tough to Be a Bug at AK felt a bit cool & misty. It's A Small World After All is a boat ride if the sensation of floating on water is a problem. Epcot has an in-ground fountain near the bridge from Future World to the World Showcase. My son got hit full on in the back of the head once with a water jet leaping between fountains at the fountain of nations in Epcot. At least we got him laughing more that freaking out over that one. Very, very unexpected and surprisingly strong water pressure. (He was 5 and going on 2 1/2 feet - 3 feet tall at the time I think; hard to remember when he grows so fast)

Let me go through all of the attractions and compile a list with any possible spray effects (to the best of my knowledge.)
Please let me know if I missed anything!
Animal Kingdom
Discovery Island Trails - some mist on the trails
Expedition Everest - mist in the mountain
It's Tough to be a Bug - heavy mist during bug spray point, as well as some spray during the termite portion
Kali River Rapids - soaking potential
Hollywood Studios
Beauty and the Beast - mist during transformations, could be avoided by far seating
Fantasmic! - projections on fountains, mist blows in direction of wind, could be avoided by far seating
Great Movie Ride - mist during Indiana Jones Anubis scene
Muppet Vision 3D - spray during Fozzi's jokes
Rock 'n Roller Coaster - mist in queue
Studios Backlot Tour - Catastrophe Canyon scene, mist at entrance
Tower of Terror - mist in queue
Voyage of the Little Mermaid - spray during show
Epcot
Spaceship Earth - Rome burning mist/smells
Living with the Land - boat ride, mist in areas of irrigation (although it doesn't really get near the boat)
Honey I Shrunk the Audience - spray during dog sneeze
Ellen's Energy Adventure - mist during dinosaur scenes
Gran Fiesta Tour - boat ride, mist as your enter (although they have toned this down)
Maelstrom - boat ride, mist during ascent and possibility of splashing near the end
Test Track - mist in corrosion section and cold temperature section
Magic Kingdom Big Thunder Mountain Railroad - water falls into train during ascent, mist in areas
Haunted Mansion - mist in queue
It's a Small World - boat ride
Jungle Cruise - boat ride, mist, possibility of getting wet (more as a joke)
Liberty Square Riverboat - boat ride
Mickey's Philharmagic - spray during various parts, including Ariel's portion and Fantasia
Pirates of the Caribbean - boat ride, small drop into misty area
Splash Mountain - boat ride, most likely will get wet
Stitch's Great Escape - Stitch "spits", sprays water
Tower of Terror queue has misters too. Plus all of the interactive fountains at Epcot and DTD. Test Track has misters in the "corrosive test" section of the ride. I think there were also misters over near the RNRC queue when we were there summer of '08 as well. There are misters near the Backlot Tour entrance too. (I think it is a huge Coke bottle or something like that.)
Fountains in Italy, US, Morocco and France pavilions are present as well if the sounds of splashing or running water are an issue.

My DD also has sensory issues. We avoided splash mtn (she had been surprised by water on another such ride and was not happy). I was worried about how she would do with the other squirts of water, but she did better than we ever would have imagined! She LOVED philharmagic, although she took her glasses off for the scary parts. She giggled at the water squirts. whew!
