As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). Hi, can anyone tell me what rides at UO/IOA get people with motion sickness ill? I know I have trouble with simulator rides and rides that go upside down so is there anything I can go on besides Jurassic Park? I have no problem on ToT and am generally ok on regular coasters but I would never be able to handle either side of MS and forget about the teacups. TIA!
I have problems with motion sickness and can do most of the rides at Universal/IOA. I do agree to stay away from the Simpsons, tried it once and was ok but woudln't really do it again. I love MIB and I do go on it but it does spin a bit at the end, I think a bit more than Toy Story but I have just learned to close my eyes cause I love the ride. I go on Spider Man but I do take a dramine before as I am not sure how I would do otherwise. Oh stay away from the Cat and the Hat ride at IOA, it spins as well, but it is a shame though cause it's cute.

I have a good friend who gets motion sickness and she takes Bonine before going to the parks and is fine.

My DH gets motion sickness pretty easily. He avoids rides like The Simpsons (haven't been since it was changed from Back to the Future). He can do Men in Black a time or two. He can maybe do the Hulk one time. Spiderman or the Mummy doesn't bother him. Dueling Dragons is a no no! I used to never ever get sick on a ride, but if I do DD several times it makes me queasy. A sign of getting old I guess.
He did to the Bonine one year, but it made him really sleepy - he ended up in the room sleeping more than riding!
I know you didn't ask for advice on motion sickness per se, but my DH is extremely sensitive to anything that moves - cars, planes, theme park rides! We tried a motion sickness spray on our recent trip to WDW called VitaMotion-S which worked when no other remedy did.

I get motion sickness on intense rides (Hulk, Dueling Dragons, etc.), but I have no problem with Spiderman or Jimmy Neutron. They are more of simulator type rides. If I feel weird at any point (because of the vision sensation) I just close my eyes and you're really not moving much.
I guess it all depends on what makes you gets sick. I get motion sickness from simulator type rides and the tea cups, but can handle roller coasters with the rest of the crowd. I do take a preventative med once a day every day, and even with that almost lost it on Jimmy Neutron. Spiderman was fine. Hope this helps. If you need to know what you can take, check with your doctor.
Thanks very much for all the responses. I'm going to try the spray too, thanks Nimros! I got really sick on EE last year which was weird b/c I hadn't all the times previously. I think I'm also going to take Bonine b/f going on any ride that has any potential of making me sick and I found out there are motionless seats at Jimmy Neutron but, alas, not the Simpsons so that's out. Thanks again!
I have found that as I"ve gotten older I am more prone to motion sickness. However with some careful planning I don't miss out on any of the rides. The big ones for me are Hulk and Dueling Dragons...the Hollywood one looks like one too. I just make sure I have some sort of break built in to recover from them. After Hulk you've got Spidey, Dudley, and Jurassic before you hit the Dragons. Men in Black does spin but nothing like the Tea Cups (I can't even watch those). Good Luck!
