As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

In all my visits to Disney, we have never eaten at Cinderella's Castle. This year, my daughter will be 9, and we were thinking we better do this before its too late. My 11 year old son is thrilled of course (you know I'm joking)...I guess my question is...is this worth 2 Table Credits? We are doing the Luau as we do everytime because we love it so much, is Cindy's worth me using another 2 Table Credits? We can survive paying out of pocket at Counters for a day, but I just wanted your opinion on if this is a must do? We are NOT giving up the luau and are undecided on if we should do this or not?
Hmmmmm...... We ate at the castle because we had to eat in the castle. I have no regrets and it's an experience everyone should go for once; but I doubt we do it again. If the main objective is to meet Cindy; head to Akershurs. But if you want to eat in the castle , go for it. The food was not impressive and the check in was the most chaotic, stressful, had my dd in tears experience ever! However, once we were settled in our table- the character interaction is WONDERFUL. It's just all about the castle for me! You can meet Cindy other places, you can get better food (and much cheaper) other places- but there is only one place you can eat in the castle! As I said, I'm glad we did it, we enjoyed it (other than the check in and food) , but I doubt we do it a second time! JMO.
I'm 25 (in a couple weeks anyway) and still a princess in my eyes (and my dad's lol) hopefully your daughter never outgrows the magic! (my brother at 12 still got into the magic, though he'd never been before) I've never eaten at the castle, though I'm sure it will eventually happen. The menu does nothing for me, and I don't like small places with big crowds (small spaces and no crowds I can handle) which from what I've heard....
but I'd do it once just to say I did it and have that experience... after all you're dining in the castle!

I think you will get a lot of different opinions, but our experience was wonderful in March 2009. We are having lunch there again on January 20 for my birthday.
Good luck!
If you are wanting a Cindy meal, try 1900 PF for the Storybook Dinner. We have ate there three times and enjoyed each one. It gives you the opportunity to meet Cindy, Prince Charming, Stepsisters, and Stepmom. The character interaction in fantastic. We have mostly have character meals, and this is our favorite. I haven't been able to justify using 2 Table Credits to eat in the castle. I would love it, but there are so many other amazing character meals to enjoy!
We actuallly love breakfast in the Castle. I can't speak to the other meals, but the eggs are good and so are the potatoes! They bring out a nice assortment of fruit and pastries as well. The character interaction is pretty good as well as the cute Wishing ceremony during the meal. Then there is the view. Its a really neat feeling to be able to look out over the park from INside the castle. Its pricey but it does include the photo package. Its not something we do every trip either. I took Brandon on his first trip and that was the last time I was there.
I don't think it's worth the price or two credits, but it is a great experience and one that everyone should try at least once. We loved the atmosphere, but just didn't rate the food for the cost.
We did lunch there. It was nice nothing spectacular. The children loved it. The decor was great. Will we go back? Not for a very long time. I think it is worth doing at least once.
Thanks so much for all your advice! My husband just thinks it would be "cool" to eat there and she would enjoy it. Haven't ever done Grand Floridian meal, that is a good idea. We've never actually visited the Grand Floridian so that would be something new. Both kids decided to give up Chef Mickeys..(ah they are getting older) but we always do O'Hana and the Luau and that is the first things they said this time! We can still get the "Princess" treatment at GF, but for only one table credit and close to MK to monorail after we eat..... Ah...the decisions. I guess we'll just see what I can get. My husband is willing to give up the 2 TS credits for the castle...he can eat at Casey's and Harbour House everyday for all meals! ( ha ha) Such a simple guy. Thanks so much!!
I honestly don't think any of the 2TS credit restaurants are worth it. If you add up the $ amounts of 2 one credit restaurants and take the difference of a 2 TS restaurant, you'll see that you're getting cheated. That being said, if you chose to pay out of pocket for it instead, you'd make out better in this situation.
However...the menu at CRT is very limited, not very kid friendly, especially at lunch and dinner, and the quality of the food overall is not great. We loved our experience at 1900PF with Cindy and her crew, the interaction was excellent, GF is beautiful, and the food was delicious, and it's only one TS!
It's just not worth it to eat in the Castle. With the new refurbs they are doing, the plan is to add a second dining option inside the castle, I'd wait to try that one in the future.

I don't know if it's worth giving up the 2T credits. We paid OOP for it since I've never done the dining plan.
That being said, if you are willing to give up the 2Tc, and/or can swing the extra cash for it, I do believe it is worth experiencing at least one time. Especially at the ages of 9 and 11, they will remember it and hopefully appreciate it. It's charming and the atmosphere is worth it to me. We did it for my DD 5th birthday hoping she would remember it. I don't plan on doing it again, except maybe if my girls are still interested when they are older and we go on mother-daughter trips. It sure is nice to know that you've dined in the castle though, it is an experience! And IMO, the food was really yummy too.

We're usually in the minority. We eating at CRT -- especially dinner!
I think 2 credits are a good deal on the DDP. Why? Everything is included -- picture with Cinderella, appetizer, entree, dessert, drink, tax and tip!
And if you've never been, it really is something I recommend doing at least once! It's walking by and thinking - I ate there! And the atmosphere is so royal!
