6 different people and 2 hours later I finally got the phone I wanted - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

6 different people and 2 hours later I finally got the phone I wanted
We have been wanting to upgrade our cell phones for ever. Our contract wasn't up until Feb 2010. I went to the sprint website tonight to see about my eligability and look at the phones we wanted. Well for my phone it said my full eligability upgrade was available now but Jays wasn't available until Feb. So I first talked to someone online at Sprint and they said sorry nothing we can do. Ok fine so I go to someone else online and again sorry nothing I can do. Yet again I go to someone else who yes again says sorry nothing I can do. So I call Sprint and was told there was an error on there part and that my upgrade on my phone shouldnt have been until Feb. Sorry nothing I can do I get told yet again. At this point I am beyond annoyed. So again I get online and talk to Willie at sprint. com. He was wonderful. He was able to look up my account and see why one phone had the full upgrade now and one not until feb. When we first got our phones we got them at the sametime and activated at the sametime but Jays phone had a problem about a month later and we had to get a new one. So the activation date was different. They had deactivated the first phone and reactivated the second. THat was why the dates were different. Willie put a note on my account about the upgrade dates and he said both phones would now be eligible for the full upgrades. I was skeptical. I asked him what it would cost me for 2 Blackberry Curves. Sprint has the buy one get one free right now. He said it would cost me $149.99 for both phones plus a $100 mail in rebate. I said ok great. Now just call this number and you can get your phones. I was still skeptical. You know how it goes you call a company they tell you what you want to hear and then don't do what they say they are going to do. Well I call the number Willie gives me and I was able to order two Blackberry Curves for $149.99 plus the $100 mail in rebate. So we are getting 2 phone for $49.99. It took forever but it was well worth it. Thank you to Willie C for all the help and willingness to help me as where the other 4 people wouldn't. So by the weekend we will have our new phones. Thanks for reading I am excited now.
Btw anyone have the Blackberry Curve? What do you think of it?

Congrats on the new phones!! Though sorry it took so much work. I don't have a blackberry curve, don't have a blackberry at all. Though I do want one.
I have to call T-Mobile and see when my contract is up. I am thinking of switching companies. I have not had much problems with T-Mobile in the past, but for the past 5 months or so I am having problems getting reception in our house. I have to go outside to talk a lot. Not to fun, especially where it is cold out now
Congrats on your new phones. Sorry we don't have Blackberrys although we debated for months with Blackberry Storms or iPhones and went with iPhones. Hope you like your new Blackberrys!

My mother and I both have/had Blackberry Curves for almost 2 years. Her contract is up in January and she is dumping it, I got rid of mine early and paid extra for a different phone just to get rid of it.
The phone itself was decent I had to replace mine once under the warranty due to the roll ball breaking 2 months after I got the phone, I went through 3 batteries but we realized after the last replacement that it was my error so that isn't the phones fault.
But the cost of the data plan to run the blackberry was far too $$ for what I was using it for.
I got the LG Env Touch and love it. The bill is cut in half of what the Blackberry was and I get far more in terms of applications from my carrier to use under the plan we have.
For us it is far too much phone for what we need. But if the Curve is what you need then you should enjoy it. Congrats on getting them to figure out your upgrade informaiton

We are with Sprint too and did a similar upgrade last December, only onto the Rant. Their print can be deceiving as I almost thought it was a bait and switch-they told me I could have got regular Blackberry's or even the touch-screen phone that resembles an i-Phone for just $149 with a $100 mail-in rebate. I thought cool, I'm getting a phone for $49. Not correct-the price was $249 with $100 being returned. Took eight minutes to ring out my daughter and I's new phones & over 8 weeks to get the $200 back (got 2 phones).
We got our new Blackberry Curve 8330 on Thursday. WOW I was really overwelmed with this phone. It is way different then what I am used to but all in all so far I like the phone. I can't say I love it but I am giving it a chance. I have been finding all kinds of apps for it which is cool. DH likes his too. My bff has one and I keep calling her to ask her how to do something on it. She laughs at me but she has been very helpful. It takes great pictures. Way better then the LG Rumor. Some of the features are a bit complicated but once I have it figured out I am sure I will love it. We shall see.
Blackberry's are very overwhelming at first. Go to www.crackberry.com. It is THE authority on all things Blackberry. Lots of info in simple terms. I just upgraded my Curve 8310 to a Curve 8900 and I LOVE IT! So glad I didn't get the Storm. I'm not sold on touch screen just yet. I feel like I'm just too hard on a phone for a touch screen.
