As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). OK so DH and I have taken many WDW vacations and I have even shared afew trip reports, we joined DVC 2 years ago and last MAY we made the move from cold boston to sunny Orlando permanently. We visit the parks at least once a week but still had a longing for that home away from home feeling. DH has cruised onced with friends about 11 yrs ago on carnival and did not enjoy it so it was no easy feat to convince him 7 nights on the magic would be amazing but nonetheless after many disscussions help from the passporter cruise book and trip reports read we booked 3/6/10 7 night western carribean on the magic so here are the questions....
If I get to Port early what are my chances or upgrade I booked category 12 cause DH was convinced we will spend hardly any time in the stateroom so it will not matter but I would like an upgrade
SPA hair appointment for formal how are the updos ?
Formal night how formal have you seen the women is a ball gown too much?
excursions in cozumel fury cattamaran or zip line adventure park?
do you feel the motion on the boat or is it stable?
For Cozumel, we did the Fury Catamaran and absolutely loved it! Worth every penny!
The motion of the boat wasn't too bad. We left PC a day or two after a hurricane had gone up the eastern Atlantic, and it was a bit rough the first few hours, but it did settle down! It never affected us, and we didn't see anyone getting sick or complaining about it!
Can't help you on the updo! As for the dress, you should be fine in a ballgown. There were a few people on our cruise with them on, so I don't think you'll feel out of place!
Not sure on the upgrade, as it depends how busy the ship is, but the earlier you get to the port, the better off your chances are!
Congrats on the new trip! We love cruising our first cruise ever was on Disney and it was a 7 day eastern, the first night was a bit rough, but after that it was smooth sailing and now we can't dream of cruising and not be sad that its just a dream not reality! We fell in love with it!
Formal night, we wore dresses that were fancy, but saw women in pant suits, and dresses of all shapes, sizes, colors etc. I found it fun to dress up and have that nice photo of the evening since dressing up at home is an oddity for me.
I had my hair done, they did a good job, I have hard hair to work with and they managed to get it to stay up which for my 2 proms and a family members wedding previously hasn't happened!! So I would say it worked for me!
Motion well for us it was really noticeable the 1st night, but after that it was smooth sailing but you could tell you were on a boat at times but it wasn't horrible.
Upgrades- I would book the level room you are willing to stay in, and if an upgrade happens bonus if not then it won't bother you. They are limited and its always best to go into it figuring on no upgrade so you won't be disappointed. but earlier is better I believe to check and see if any are there. Upgrades at the Port do still cost $$ but not as much generally as if you booked before hand for that level room.

In Cat 12 your best chance for an upgrade comes before you get to the port. There aren't many Cat 12 rooms, so if there's demand for them from (relatively) last-minute cruisers, they may move you up. Keep monitoring your online booking (sometimes your stateroom number changes), and also look carefully when you get your cruise documents (about 10 days before you cruise) - they don't tell you you were upgraded, but again, that stateroom number may change. If it hasn't happened by the time you check in, it's not likely to happen for free. Whether a paid upgrade will be available (or inexpensive) depends on how heavily booked your cruise is.

Form formal night I have worn a ball gown. I have seen people dressed up and casual. Do what you feel is bes for the two of you. I had my gown pressed for $4 better then worrying about it wrinkling in the luggage.
fury cattamaran or zip line adventure park? - I have done both but in different part of the world and if I had to choose between the two - zip lining is awesome!!!
If there is a chance of motion sickness take some bonine with you. My DH took some on our first cruise just in case.
As for upgrading sorry no help there. We use our DVC points for our cruises.
Wow thanks everyone I knew I could count on the passporters for help! Ok so as far as the upgrade I amhappy with cat12 b/c it meant we could afford to take a magical vacation so if no upgrades happen I will be happy just to be there! I will definitely plan to get my hair appt first thing on board and I think I will go very fancy if only I could wear my wedding gown no your right too much but seriously after that there are not many chances to dress up so I might as well and on the excursion I am thinkg the catamaran oh I love all things disney
