It's My Birthday & I'll Eat & Drink What I Want To! TR (Oct23rd-29th) UPDATED 11/4 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

It's My Birthday & I'll Eat & Drink What I Want To! TR (Oct23rd-29th) UPDATED 11/4
Since we are 10 days till our trip(well now it is 9 days since it took me till after midnight to finish typing this ~ You can't tell but I am doing the single digit dance in my living room RIGHT NOW) I thought I should at least start my TR. After spending a week in WDW in Jan, I somehow managed to talk my DH into going back to WDW for my birthday. This trip has actually been in the works since DH got his orders over 2 years ago for his tour in Iraq. We promised the kids that once Daddy came home from Iraq we would go to WDW & go trick or treating in Magic Kingdom. This trip was originally to take place in Oct 2008, but DH didn’t have enough vacation time at work. I wish we had gone anyway. As some of you know, our son Robert died last Dec. Both DH & I have regrets for not sticking tour plan & taking this trip last year. After Robert’s death we both decided we needed to live for the moment. That’s how the January trip came about & why we are returning again in Oct. With the help of buy 4 get 3 in Jan & now the Military Salute offer, I get to live my dream & visit WDW more than once every few years!
Cast of Characters: Me(I’ll be celebrating my 36th on the trip), DH (34), DD (5) & DSS(9).
(DSS, DH, Me & DD at our first fundraiser for SUDC Research in Robert's memory)
Where we’re staying: POP. This will be our first time staying at this value & DH & I are very excited about it. ASMov is where we have always stayed (except on our Disneymoon & we splurged for a mod & stayed at POR ~ we it there!!!!), but after January’s trip & too many night’s of trying to find a seat on the bus with a sleeping 4 yr old, we wanted a resort that had its own bus!
Plans: We arrive at MCO about 9:28am on Fri Oct 23rd. We’re hoping to get lucky & our room will be ready, but if not, I have a carry on backed with our bathing suits & towels. Why you ask? Well to relax by the pool & wait for belleandmaddysmom(Ginger) & family to arrive! Originally we had planned on spending the day at EPOCT, but we DH & I decided to save the money we’d be spending on four 1 day passes (with the Military Salute offer DH got a 5 day park hopper for FREE & the kids & I only had to pay $124 per person for 5 day park hoppers ) & use that for F&WF instead! Plus with the increased price of FAB’s I gotta readjust the budget somehow, right? Once Ginger, her girls & Mom arrive, Ginger& I will enjoy some while my family & her girls swim. Then the plan is to head over to DTD for some supper & shopping.
Sat Oct 24th Happy Birthday to Me!!!! We’re starting off the day at DHS. A little TSMM & ToT & whatever else the fam wants to do till around4:30-5pm. Then we need to head back to POP so we can get ready for Nacrossee’s for my Bday dinner at 7:05pm. Hopefully we’ll catch Wishes while we are there. After we eat, hopefully the sugar from dessert will juice the kids up enough for us to head over to MK since its open till 11pm.
Sun Oct 25th: Since we will have gotten in late the night before, the plan is to let the kids sleep in. Today we are spending the whole day at MK. I didn’t make any ADR’s for today, we’ll just do CS for lunch & dinner. Since we are going to MNSSHP tonight I am surprising the kids with appointments at the Pirate League for DSS & BBB for DD. DH & I couldn’t agree on costumes so we are just going to wear Jack Skellington & Sally shirts. Ginger & her family are attending MNSSHP tonight as well so we decided to host a PP Meet for the first parade.
Mon Oct 26th: Sleeping in again today, but we have an ADR at Akershus’s at 10:30 we’ll be headed off to EPCOT no later than 9am. We’ll be spending the whole day at EPCOT. There will be some grazing at F&WF instead of lunch & then off to DH’s requested Le Cellier for a 5:20pm ADR. Since the Crankies & The Norris’ will be in EPCOT today as well for Travis’s bday, we plan on stumbling meeting up with them somewhere along the Bar Crawl.
Tues Oct 27th: Today I have nothing planned. Yes, you read that correctly. NO PLANS. OK we have an ADR for 1900 Park Fare at 5:00pm, but other than that we are going to play today by ear. We will be headed over to EPCOT in the evening for Janice’s FAB meet. I guess I DO have plans for today
Wed Oct 28th: We have an 8:00am ADR at Tusker House for breakfast. I’m hoping that DD will be tall enough (& brave enough) to ride EE with me. This & ToT are my fav rides in WDW. We’ll have Flame Tree BBQ for lunch (DH & I this CS). Once AK closes we’re headed over to EPCOT for some more F&WF.
Thurs Oct 29th: Today’s our last day L our flight home leaves at 3:58pm. The plan is to let the kids swim if they want to in the morning & then head back over to DTD to grab something for lunch before DME comes to get us. I 'm going to try to do live updates on my blog MPWife153 Goes to WDW Oct 2009 so check in there or on FB to see what's happening for real!
Up next: I’ve been a crafty fool……
