As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Silly Question of the Day 5/27/02
Okay, it's Memorial Day! Everyone enjoy the day off and for those who are in positions where you have to work - thanks for your service and a BIG thanks to anyone who has ever served in the US Armed Forces. My dad is a retired USAF Colonel and I have such respect for all of you!
Okay - since today is the official launch for summer (I know the solitice hasn't occured yet), I'm wondering what do you like to cook out on your grill?!? Any favorites other than the good ole American Burger! And - is your grill a gas grill or an old classic throw in the charcol and strike a match kind?!?
Everyone enjoy their day!

Re: Silly Question of the Day 5/27/02
Modern gas here. It is so much easier. We even have a burner on ours for like a pot of beans! We grill just about all summer. It's our favorite!
Tara
Oops! I forgot to say that shish-kabobs with shrimp are my favorite!

Re: Silly Question of the Day 5/27/02
Gas for us! We are still learning to cook on it though. I guess our favorites to cook are steak and fresh corn on the cob w/salt, pepper and butter grilled w/the husks still on. Also, I do some shrimp in barbacue sauce, cayenne pepper and butter.
Today all we are eating is chili dogs since youngest DS has a baseball game this evening!

Re: Silly Question of the Day 5/27/02
We prefer old-fashioned charcoal grill that we can use different aromatic charcoal bricks or add wood for flavor.....My sister got me a "grill basket" for my birthday last year so I can now do fish (or veggies) w/o losing them to the charcoal! This is DH's territory and he does a wonderful steak or skewered lamb among other things...........

Re: Silly Question of the Day 5/27/02
Received a gas grill for Christmas, and have used it a lot more often than my old charcol (sp?) grill. Favorite things to grill--- Marinated Flank Steak, Sea Scallops, and skewers of marinated chicken tenders. Yum.
We actually are not going to use our grill tonight. We are attending a picnic at our pool which is a bring your own (I'm planning on KFC or Deli Sandwiches) with live music, pony rides, swimming, etc. Should be fun! -HiddenMickey

Re: Silly Question of the Day 5/27/02
I like to BBQ porkchops marinated in Kraft Catalina salad dressing. (mmm, my mouth is watering...) Nothing like sipping on a frosty cold Smirnoff Ice cooler (do you have those in the US,too?) and charring the tar out of meat on a hot summer evening!
I also slice potatoes up fairly thin, stick them in a disposable pie plate, toss them in some lite Italian salad dressing, and cover the pie plate with tin foil. I put that on the warming rack thingy inside the bar b que. Tasty.
We use a 16 year old propane grill that we really need to replace. My DH had to brace the wobbly legs with 2x4's in the shape of a z to keep the darn thing from falling over.

Re: Silly Question of the Day 5/27/02
My grill is charcol, it's the American way. There's something about that flavor.
So for todays menu we will be having steak, baked potatos, and our favorite grilled corn on the cob, and to wash it all down lots of chilled beverages. Man I just love the summer time and so does my waist line.
To all our service men and women who are serving, or have served... May God bless you... and Thank You for all that you have done to preserve freedom around the world.

Re: Silly Question of the Day 5/27/02
It's a great day up here to use the grill!
We have a Weber gas grill. Things we have cooked are hot dogs, burgers, steak, all kinds of chicken cuts, pork chops, pork & beef ribs.
I did hot dogs & burgers for yesterdays party. It cleared up about 4 PM and the sun came out.

We have a gas grill and my DH is in charge of doing all the cooking on it. I never touch it, and I like it that way! One of my favorite's is boneless/skinless chicken breasts that you marinate first in Italian Salad Dressing. Very Good!

We use a gas grill. We do burgers, chicken, hot dogs, steak, potatoes and sometimes veggies.
No cooking today. We are having chicken BBQ. Picked it up this morning from the local Lions Club.

Re: Silly Question of the Day 5/27/02
We're ( DH ) grilling out as I type... We have always had a gas grill but just 2 last week I convinced DH that I wanted that good old charcoal taste & we bought a big charcoal grill... We made ribs last week that were heavenly!!!
Today.. it's hot dogs & kielbassy....
Oh.. my favorite on the grill is filet mignon!! It just doesn't taste the same any other way.. can't try it with the charcoal grill....

Re: Silly Question of the Day 5/27/02
No grilling today since everyone took off in different directions.
We have a gas grill (Weber) that's hooked up to the house so it's really easy to bar-b-que all summer and most of the fall. We do almost everything (except spaghetti) on the grill - my husband loves marinated steak, london broil, chicken, pork chops, swordfish steak, and of course, hot dogs, hamburgers and sausage. We've been using McCormick's Grill Mates marinades - Southwest and Mesquite are the best!

Re: Silly Question of the Day 5/27/02
We have both. DH perferes the charcoal grill over the gas grill, & I wish he would go back to the gas grill. Our charcoal grill is also a smoker and we have had some great stuff come off of it. Try soaking a turkey breast (or chicken) in pineapple juice w/some seasonings and smoking it with hickory chips.

Re: Silly Question of the Day 5/27/02
Its an old fashioned charcol grill for us! Our most favorite thing to grill would have to be chicken. My favorite is marinated in red wine vinegar salad dressing and then when its done cooking sprinkle parmesean cheese over it. SOunds gross but its really good especially if you cut it up and put it in a salad! Happy Grilling!
Happy Memorial Day and thanks to all or have or are serving our great country!
