As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Just returned from 12 days (how did it go so fast???)
Here are a few brief reviews of vegetarian meals that I had:
T-Rex : Great salad choices (asked for meat on the side and family ate it)
1900 Park Faire: Some good choices on this buffet, chef is willing to escort you and point out the vegan/vegetarian choices, chef will also "whip" something up depending on what you want. He whipped up some veggie stir fry for me that was good.
Sanaa: Request the separate vegetarian menu and it does have some nice options. Even the naan (bread) is listed separately as vegetarian or not (if it has cheese) so you can quite safely order here. I had the Biryani which was good but it is only available for a limited time. The waiter said it is going to be removed from the menu. Other choices included curry veggie meals and spinach paneer which all looked good. Loved Sanaa!!
Ohana: As always, the chef was willing to create a wonderful meal. Chef TJ is a genius! Don't be afraid to ask for what you want!! They are so good to accomodate here!
Garden Grill: Not many choices here unfortunately. We requested the food to be separate (ie. no meat laying on top of the potatoes or squash) but our server never got this figured out. The vegetarian meal provided by the chef was a risotto type pasta with peppers. It was bland and tasteless. No flavor at all! I am not picky and will eat the food as long as it is meatless but I will not visit Garden Grill again. This was a disappointment for me and the meateaters of the group.
Whispering Canyon Cafe: WCC no longer has the vegetarian burrito but the chef is very good and will come to your table and discuss options with you. I can't remember his name but he was from RI. He gave me several options and I chose the vegetarian skillet which comes in its own skillet (so as not to be touching the meat in the other skillets, if ordered). It included mashed potatoes, roasted bell peppers, corn on the cob, brocolli, squash...quite good. I was full and it was all hot and fresh and delicious. Dessert here is very good.
Polynesian Luau: Notify them before you go that you are a vegetarian and they will actually call you when you arrive to your room and give you several choices to pick from. I can't recall all three choices given to me but I decided on the couscous veggie meal with tofu. It was a good choice!
California Grill: Hmmmmm....I was the only satisfied member of our 5 person party here!! I told the server I was a vegetarian and he indicated the whole wheat pasta on the menu that is available. He also suggested a "chef creation" which could not be described because it is truly a "creation" and will be whatever the chef can come up with at the time! Well, as mentioned above, if it is meatless, I am willing to try it so I went with the more daring adventure and let the chef create something. And wow! What a creation! I was served a large platter with four smaller plates - each held a unique vegetarian dish (one was a flatbread, one was the whole wheat pasta, one was a spicy corn/veggie mixture with lots of flavor and I can't even describe the 4th except to say "YUM".) This was a good meal! Unfortunately, the other 4 people of the party were quite disappointed in their selections. Again, ASK the server and make note on the ressie that you are a vegetarian and you will likely be quite pleased!!
50's Prime Time Cafe: There is one vegetarian dish on the menu...stuffed peppers. The server did not think anything else could be created and so I had the stuffed pepper. It is baked and stuffed with a rice and veggie mixture (kind of a spanish rice flavor) and served with other sauteed veggies. It was good and very filling. Definitely order a milkshake here (if you eat dairy) or a sundae. Very good!! This was not my favorite restaurant but I would eat here again.
Rose and Crown:I was sad to see that the Curry Veggie dish was removed from the menu. Only one vegetarian dish was offered and it was the Vegetable Shepherds Pie. This had a good flavor (it was quite salty though). It included kind of a mushroom soup base with peas, green beans and a good crust. It was more than enough to eat and DH helped eat some of it. I would order it again. We were able to sit outside and watch Illuminations - so quite honestly, that in itself makes this a good choice!
A few Counter Service Comments:
Wolf-Gang Puck Express: Always a good choice! In fact, we chose it 4 times!! I tried the Margherita pizza, Roasted Vegetable pizza (which used to be the Tuscan pizza), and the Warm Mediterranean Veggie Melt. The Veggie Melt was OK but rather bland. Both pizza's were delicious and fresh! Even the meateaters of my group loved them! Additional note: The portions here are quite large and more than enough to share! Pizza's are full-sized (probably 12 inches). Other than these items, some items can be altered upon request (ie. leave off the chicken, sausage...etc). If looking for a good meal with many veggie options, this is a good choice (expecially if on the DDP!)
Columbia Harbor House: Delightful as always, the vegetarian sandwhich is so good. Partly, it is just refreshing to see a veggie choice after so many burger/chicken menu choices. I think the veggie sandwhich is called "the Lighthouse sandwhich". It is multigrain bread with humus, coleslaw and tomatoes. All the flavors work well together and it is good. Had it two times and the second time was better (the cole slaw was more flavorful...it seems the flavor of the coleslaw makes this sandwhich what it is).
Well, hope this helps the other vegetarian's heading to the world! Definitely make note on the ADR's and the servers and chefs will help you out with choices!!!!
Enjoy!!!!

This is really helpful! Although I am willing to eat fish (and my cardiologist encourages that), I try to stick with vegetarian foods most of the time. Your review noted some of my favorites (Columbia Harbor House, WP) but now I am encouraged that if my husband want CG for sushi, I will still find something excellent to eat. And Sanaa sounds like a must do on our next trip. Thanks!
Thanks for posting! I was in charge for our gathering of three families ADRs and three of the people are vegetarians. I heard that the restaurants were accomodating but I hadn't found much about it. Feeling a bit better now!
Thank you so much! What a wonderful review! I'm a vegan, and while I usually manage pretty well, I love hearing new ideas and reviews because things change so often. You've helped me feel better about my plans for our December trip!

Thanks for the review!
I had wondered about this. I'm not a vegetarian , but have throught about converting.
I find it ironic that a place called Garden grill is so limited for vegetarians.

I know.
When we went to the Garden Grill, DBF had the couscous. He was less than impressed. While I love the GG, that was the last time we would be going there.
Great reviewing! I am really looking forward to eating at Sanaa, especially when I heard about the separate veggie menu. California Grill always provided me with good veggie options. A couple of years ago I had some ravioli stuffed with goat cheese and spinach in a morel mushroom sauce that was to DIE for.
