As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I'm at the point where I need to be exercising on a fairly regular basis to lose any more weight. I've always liked the idea of exercise videos but never could keep going with them, I guess because it was the exact same video every single time.
I was looking at the Wii Fit, it sounds like it has a lot of fun games on it which should offer some variety. Have any of you lost weight with it?
Additionally, what are your thoughts on My Fitness Coach for the Wii? I know it doesn't use the Wii Fit balance board, but it still sounds good. I've got the My Word Coach and I love it! Now, I know, vocabulary and fitness are two completely different things, but I figure being made by the same company the quality and game play should be similar.

I like the Wii Fit, but I'd have to say that it can get boring at times. Many of the exercises are very short and you have to restart them -- you can't really get a full workout in without several stops in between.
I think the Wii Active is more dynamic, but I haven't had a chance to play with mine yet. I'm waiting until DS is in school again to start the 30-day challenge.
But, when I was doing the Wii Fit regularly, I felt GREAT -- things really tightened up and I had so much more energy. (I also belong to my YMCA and use a treadmill there three times a week, but the yoga and step aerobics workouts on the Wii were fun.)

We have the Wii Fit, and I can't really see it being used for weight loss. As Eileen mentioned, most of the activities range from 30 seconds to a few minutes at best (except for the jogging). I never lost any weight when I was spending more than 30 minutes a day on it. I only wanted to lose a few pounds, but it didn't really do anything for me.
I really like my Wii Fit. When I was using it regularly, I felt better and was more toned. I used it as part of a fitness routine that also included Gold's Gym Cardio Workout for Wii as well as a recumbant exercise bike. This summer I haven't used it as much since we have gone biking or walking outdoors. Once the weather turns cold, it will be back to daily "Wii-ing". Even Rock Band provides a workout if you do it for awhile!

I just looked this up on Amazon, it sounds really nice. Definitely another option I'll be looking at. Thanks for the mention!
I like our Wii Fit but we use it mostly for the games.
I liked the yoga routines but started my program before I went to Disney in June and haven't really gone back to it yet. Not the Wii's fault, but my own.
And I love the fact that the Wii asks where you've been if you haven't been on in awhile or if someone started a program and hasn't been on in awhile it will ask if you have seen them lately!
My sister has a wii fit and loves it. She uses it along with her treadmill daily to lose weight and keep in shape. My kids love to play the games too....on a side note--I am very pooh sized...and I weigh too much for the board..which is a bummer and a deterent--and yet makes me feel even worse and like I need to get my butt moving...but anyway......just an fyi
I use the Wii Fit everyday and it has definitely helped me lose weight. They have a free step that goes for half and hour and you can watch television as you do it which helps to not make it so boring. I really enjoy doing that as well as some of the games.

And it wasn't for lack of trying. But I do like the jogging feature, it was really nice to see the blue skies of the Wii island when winter seemed to never end. And you can also watch tv and kinda just jog there. I imagine I'll start this feature back up once it's too cold to walk outside.
Also...my sig photo is a BIG reason why I can't use the Wii Fit Board much when he's around (it's not built for two, Jimmy) so I usually do the jogging when he's up and active.
I own the WII Fit and the AE Active also. I love them both and when used regularly can help you lose some weight and get toned. The AE Active is more like a work out and as challenges. The WII Fit as a more playfull side to it. The kids love the Fit and we also use the board with Shaun White snowboarding game and Rayman TV witch are both a lot of fun. In colder months when you are not always as motivated to go outside, it is a great way to stay active.
I love mine, after using it for the first time my muscles aches like crazy but it was worth it. I also just got the ea active which is great if you want a exercise routine already made up.
I bought a Wii Fit last year, and loved it- but then school started back up and I didn't get to use it as often. I lost 20 pounds last summer, but then gained them all back. I bought a Wii Active, which I absolutely love!, and use it regurally- and I have last 39 pounds since June 1st! and went to WDW twice since then and ate like I normally would. It really gives you a workout and there are so many more options to it than the Wii fit. Try it- it will really give you a great workout.

That's great! I think I know what to put on my Christmas Wish List now.
