As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

It was a great trip however Disney isn't perfect even to the extent that travel enthusiasts and critics say about it.
I stayed at the Coronado for a week and fell back in love with a resort I haven't been to in more than 10 years.
I dinned at California Grill, it is along with Jiko and V&A Disneys heaviest promoted and premeire restaurant. For good reason to the food is as fresh as Disney food can get with excellent selections of flatbeards, sushi, filets, and Valhorna Chocolate Cake. Other selections included Boma, Chef Mickeys, and San Angel Inn, the rest of the nights were counter service.
My overall experiences goes with both Pros and Cons that I think every Passporter should consider
Regardless of how many Pros or Cons there are the Pros always overpower the cons no matter how many cons there are.
Pros
Exceptional Fine Dining: Some of the best dining you will find in the Orlando area diverse and always creative and innovative and delicious flavors.
Excellent Atmosphere: Great views of the parks hotels and your in the middle of Florida so you will enjoy the tropical atmosphere anyway unless the heat bothers you.
Beautiful Rooms: No matter what resort the rooms are usually beautifully decorated with the always inevitable hidden mickeys.
Great Dining Plan: You get discounts on such highly respected restaurants and counter services, that would be harder to afford at other vactation destinations with such high quality food.
Beautiful Scenery: Similar to atmosphere however this is the layout, and many beautiful decors and gardens across the world.
Some of the most enjoyable rides that any park could possibly offer: The atmosphere storytelling and colorful characters are the reason why a Disney ride is not like any other also with interesting ride innovations.
Expert Restaurant and Hotel Service: Usually the hotels and restaurant service is at their best in the case of Disney still dont get your hopes up they make some mistakes occasionally.
Excersize: Your feel energized and young again visiting the adventurous areas of the world.
Great Transportation to and from the airport: When arriving or leaving Orlando it should be quick easy and painless.
Cons
Unorganized and Poorly behaved crowds: Not saying this is everyone though you will get alot of this when in large unorginized areas with large number of people.
Ocassionally rude guests: Some guests can act indiscreet generally obnoxius, embarrasing, and can even start fights on occasion.
Exceptionally Long Lines: Heres some advice about that don't go in peak season like I did this week I learned a leason from that. Fastpasses cant get you out of every long line its more important on what time of the year you go.
Climate: If you don't live in the south the hot climate will take you by surprise especially in the summer and can be irritable and create mood swings among families just trying to have a good time.
Poor Bus Service: Some of the bus drivers that go to the parks are professional however it can be random whether or not you wind up with them. Some of the drivers are alittle slow and lack the professionalism to carry out simple tasks to get people from one place to the other. Really sucks up time.
Walking long lengths to get to certain areas: Especially when your getting older its really annoying trying to walk from one long distance to the next esepcially when you are trying to have a relaxing vacation.
Annoying Music: You may or may not agree with me on this one but I can't stand listening to those old Disney songs . Even when I was much younger I would lose my mind listening to them. They are repetitive and get stuck in your head and while the kids love it, young adults like me prefer the other Disney experiences.
Price: Disney usually charges in the three to four thousand range to stay at
moderate hotel for a week, quite a bit more than Universal because Disney has more destinations a larger market and the guests to do so. Unless your on a business trip, or are apart of the travel industry, or have connections to people at Disney or are apart of a huge discount your going to have to pay quite a bit.
Unpredictable Weather: Rain storms can come out randomly and interrupt your day at the park especially in the water parks.

Thanks for sharing your experience.. We went last august and although it was hot, it was fairly manageable with mid afternoon pool breaks and stopping to sit in the shade sipping an ice cold drink and just watch the people.\\Sorry you had so many cons in there.

Yea, that heat can do you in. Were from the South (GA); so even though the climate in Orlando is basically the same as ours- we don't usually walk in the heat sun up to sun down for over a week- so last June it wore on us a little too (were trying Nov this year). I'm sure that heat would really be a "shock" to someone use to cooler weather.
thanks for taking the time to list pros and cons for all of us to consider! it is great you could make a nice trip of it despite some not so magical things in there!
Seems like most of the cons are things that are not directly Disney's fault. I mean, it's not their fault if other guests are rude. I expect rudeness when I go. I know not everyone is considerate of others, and rudeness like that happens everywhere, not just in WDW. In peak season, I think everything is magnified....it's more expensive, there are more guests, there are more exhausted and hot guests, the heat makes the walking less bearable......all the reasons we will never ever travel to WDW that time of year. It's value season only for us!!
Next time, maybe try the fall or winter!! I highly recommend it!!

We got back this morning and had a wonderful trip. I suppose everything is a matter of perspective b/c we were there in June as well and found the heat and the crowds to be significantly less this time. Hardly a wait longer than 20 minutes for anything. I had to laugh though at your 'con' related to Disney music. It is Disney World after all!
The heat can definitely be brutal in late summer, especially if you're from the northern part of the country. I love the heat, but the oppressive humidity I can live without.
I hate the busses, so I feel your pain on that one.
The music I absolutely love because it reminds me of all of my trips to Disney as a kid. But yeah, I can see how it could be annoying.
Cost is high, but if you travel to WDW frequently DVC is the way to go. For the price the accommodations cannot be beat.
I'm glad you enjoyed CG. It's my hands-down favorite restaurant on Disney property.

We just left CBR. Infact we are still at the airport. I agee about the heat and the rude guests. We love the heat but when you just stand in one spot for 1 min and sweat that was crazy. As for the rude people we saw them everywhere. The worse was at AK.
We`ve visited three times in August and more than ever this year I`ve read about the heat being a big issue. I suppose that has some effect on other peoples behaviour .
I agree with you regarding dining and resort experiences - they are fabulous and for me worth the money. I also think I`m one of those very few people who enjoy the trips on the busses!
I`m pleased you enjoyed the trip and its good to get honest feedback.
Wow, prices must be really high at peak time, we go in Sept. and stay for 9 nights for 2 adults and 2 kids with park hoppers we pay $2600 for moderates it was the same price as last year too. Plus free dining.
