As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. So we would like to take DD who is now 2 for her first Disney trip. Sounds simple
you might say......well not exactly.
My DILs live in CA and only my DMIL has seen Ellie (3 times since she was born)
because my DFIL doesn't fly.....or travel period. He didn't even come for our
wedding. We were looking at going to WDW for a week in December 2010.
DD will be 3 then and I would love to see the Christmas decorations. However we
have been in early May and LOVED the weather and lower crowds so that is an
option also.
Now here is the WWYD....So that my DFIL might meet his granddaughter before
she is 10 I was kicking around the idea of going to DL and spending sometime with
them during the trip. We have been to DL before and while I liked it my favorite
is WDW. If we do DL, I was going to ask my DMIL if she wanted to be there for
DD's first Disney experience.
So would you do DL or WDW for DD's first Disney trip and what time of year,
May or December???
I would do DL in December. I think it is very considerate of you to do this for your in-laws. I've never been to DL and I would really like to but from what I've heard I could see WDW being your favorite.
Just think if her first experience is DL than how amazed she'll be at WDW.
Anyway that's just my opinion and it is really only based on the fact that your in-laws are there and you want your FIL to see her. And my december vote is because Disney is so beautiful at Christmas.

I think you are a great daughter in law! I would do December in Disneyland too. I think that having her Grandmother there will definitely add to the specialness of the time for your DD but even more for you. You get to see Disney through your daughters eyes and the experience of your daughters joy through her grandmother's eyes also.
If you are like us and have limited travel time, I also think that wrapping in that time with the in-laws is very clever.
Speaking as a gramma, watching my granddaughter's amazement was so special. And she was only 14 months old, so I cannot imagine her reaction next December at age 4! I think you are very thoughtful and sweet to think of doing Disneyland so that your in-laws can share!

I agree with everyone! I think you're very kind to consider your in-laws in your planning and I think the DL/December will be a memorable experience for everyone involved
I'd go to DL. There are a few more things that little ones can do - and there is nothing like DL. It's so different from WDW. My kids love both places, and like to compare the attractions (like, how Tiki Room is so completely diff)
And - with a 2 year old, DL will be much less overwhelming as a parent.
You could always decide to do WDW in Dec. and then do DL in May - with your MiL. But speaking as a grandmother, I'd love to see my grandkids' reaction to their first Disney trip.

The thing I would consider is this - the memories on this trip will mostly be YOURS - watching your daughters face and hearing her laughter. She probably won't remember any of it. So sharing it with her grandparents would be special for all of you.

as well. It's just hard seeing all the WDW Christmas decorations and stuff...
ya know. But DD seeing DL with her grandma is worth all we would be missing
so I guess we will go with DL.
Now it's just down to May or December. I really want cooler weather with
low crowds. We went in November 2005 the week before Thanksgiving and it
was CROWDED!!!!! I so don't want that this time.
