As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We usually mail a box to our resort containing diapers, wipes, snacks, etc. Then in our luggage we pack just enough for a couple of days in case our package isn't available right when we check in. Once we had to wait a day while they located our package, fortunately we had enough supplies to manage.

I am thinking of ordering thru Garden Grocer or picking some up after we get in, since we are renting a car. So then I would just bring enough in our luggage for that day plus some extra.
I have ordered diapers from diapers.com and had them shipped to my hotel. They arrive in a day or 2 and if you spend over $50 you get free shipping. I add things like swim diapers to bring the total up to $50. We are staying 1 night at pop & then switching to SSR so we have a full kitchen so this time we are renting a car for the one day, driving ourselves to the hotel & then to SSR the next day & we will go to walmart & get our dipes & food & stuff. But if you will not have a car, diapers.com is the way to go.
In the past we have just stopped at a local retailer to pick up baby supplies, obviously we had a rental car. If you do not have a car, I second the idea of sending a box down with baby supplies. I use Fed Ex and have zero problems. (UPS delayed our packages on two previous trips and they do not move packages on weekends, so we switched to Fed Ex) Just be sure to pack extra diapers and formula or snacks for the plane, more and more flights are getting delayed. On my flight last week a dad with a baby ran out of wipes and was walking the plane asking other parents for baby wipes. (it was funny, but I was traveling with just my 7 year old and I was the one with the extra wipes...LOL)
We've shipped a box of baby supplies and we've also purchased some off property. Last time, I just took an extra suitcase for toys and supplies . . . but shipping is easiest if you don't have a car. If you do have a car (and it sounds like you will), there is a really nice Walmart not too far from WDW.

You can go shopping when you get down there, or ship a box down like suggested. Otherwise, you could check another bag filled with diapers and things that will be used up during the week then use the bag for souvenirs on the way home!

I agree. Luckily for us, we've never had to limit our checked baggage. Last time we flew Jetblue and bought our tiks before they started 2nd bag fee, so we were allowed 2 per person. We're flying Southwest this time...first 2 bags are free! I debated on Garden Grocer last time instead of bringing diapers, wipes, etc...but everything cost more on the site than I can buy it at home with coupons (plus I prefer to use a store brand of wipes) then add the delivery fee.... didn't seem worth it to me.

Thanks everyone!!! Great suggestions. I think I may ship them down. That has to be cheaper than checking another bag.
I wouldn't be so sure...... It's amazing how quick the costs can add up on a box of stuff to ship...and diapers and wipes are VERY heavy!! I sell children's clothing on ebay every once in a while and sometimes it costs $10 just to ship a small box.
I found this chart for bag fees: Airline baggage fees chart Most are about $25 for a second bag (and I'm APALLED that Jetblue and Southwest are the ONLY two airlines that don't charge for the first bag!! Southwest is the only airline giving you 2 free bags). But anyway, I honestly wouldn't doubt you'd pay close to $25 to ship it USPS or FedEx anyway.

I also sell on eBay and I use flat rate boxes which are great if you are sending
multiple items.
USPS has flat rate boxes and you pay one price no matter the weight of the
box. I would do a "test pack" of a box with items you are wanting to have with
you. Take it up to the post office and a UPS or FedEx shop and ask them how
much to ship it. Yes it's some work, but if you ship just what you will need/use
then you won't have to ship anything back home when your trip is over. I would
also include a large foldable bag in the box that you would use for on trip home
for any suvoniers that you buy.
I shipped my family's entire vacation wardrobe (a really large box) from CA to WDW in January (I never bring luggage) and it was $37 via UPS. I always use UPS or Fed Ex. If a package is over 2 pounds, the USPS will be more money.
I forgot to add... if you ship UPS or Fed Ex you should print the labels from home. Just open an account online. It is MUCH cheaper to ship yourself rather than walk into a UPS Store. (generic boxes can be bought at Staples)
I always pack them when I travel and have never found it to be over cumbersome.
This past trip I took 10 diapers in my carry-on then had an additional 25-30 in my
luggage. I didn't feel they took up any extra space (I just count it as "underwear" for my two year old!! LOL!!) I also packed 10 swim diapers. I packed 5 of us in two suitcases for 9 days. I just like to know that it's the brand and type and size I use. I pack them "just out" of the packageing and they are always really compact. I find if I try and pack ones from my diaper bin it's too hard (did that make any sense???? I know Mom's will understand!! They sort of "fluff up" after you take the plastic wrap off!! LOL!!)
