As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We dined in the castle for breakfast in April and I have to say I was not that impressed by the food or even the whole princess thing - neither were my kids or my parents. I didn't feel as though they spent any more time with us than, say, Winnie the Pooh and friends at CP.
We were a party of 14, so they had set aside 3 tables for us - 1 table of 4, and 2 tables of 5, with a chair at the end, so not much room at the table.
AND, the picture of my kids with Cinderella wasn't even that good - the boys were on one side of her, she had DS Josh by the arm with her head tilted towards him, and poor Jamie on her other side looked like she was one of those kids who ends up in your picture and you say "who is THAT kid?"! (it's actually kinda funny to us now!)
I noticed on allearsnet that it says "all you care to eat breakfast" - doesn't than mean they'll bring you more? Two pieces of bacon just didn't cut it for the boys. I was very underwhelmed by the amount of food on the plate, (I have two 'growing' boys who were "starving" as soon as breakfast was done!, even my daughter, who is not a huge eater, was hungry!). As soon as our plates were brought out, and before we had a chance to see all the princesses, the waiter had brought us our check!
I'm wondering your experience, if you've eaten breakfast there before.

We had breakfast there in May and, although we struggled to catch up with our server from time to time, whenever we asked for more food, he brought it out for us.

I have to also say there was no indication from our server that we could get more - just that we had two options - the 'regular' plate or the 'healthy' plate. He NEVER asked if anyone wanted more of anything.
I'm with you Jim, we won't be heading back to CRT.
ITA - we also are underwhelmed at CRT - but I still enjoy the ambiance - but I prefer their lunch menu where you order and they bring it to you - I think they struggle to turn over tables more at Breakfast than at lunch - and I think people at the first seating want to hit the park at rope drop too - so maybe that had something to do with it -
we often request extra bacon at the all you can eat places - and fwiw DD prefers the Norway Breakfast over CRT - and its the same that they bring you the eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, and they do replinish - its better because you get to get up and fill your plate with the cold buffet offerings, and biscuits!!
We ate there last month and I thought our server was fantasic. I was nervous about eating here after heraring all the bad reviews so I went in with low expectations, but as far as our server was concerned - he was great. And yes you could ask for more food. I think DH did - can't remember now. But we had plenty food as we also had two plates full of muffins and pastries as well. I'd considering going back sometime.
Breakfast really is one of the hardest meals. They really do want you in and out! This is where the art of setting the pace comes into play!
The cm should have asked you for more food! I'm sorry you didn't know you could ask them! I hate to hear your children were hungry when leaving the castle! That's awful!
We've learned that the Princesses will wave a high and run unless you are firm and stop them! When my Dgang were teens, this was always a problem. A lot of characters think you don't want pics! But I'd stand right up and say - "Wendy, would you mind a pic?" One time the fun began because Wendy looked at my Dguys (I think they were around 6' feet then -- they're 6'4 now). She took one of their chairs and climbed on so she'd be as tall of them! Priceless.
But because of the amount of guests they try to pack in and out, it can be chaotic. When they changed to character meals, it took some of the magic out of eating at the castle. Now, we rarely go to breakfast. We do go every trip to dinner. For me, Cinderella's Castle is a big part of our family memories. It's the first place we ate on our very first trip and so I visiting it every trip.
It may take you awhile, but I hope you give it another try! It really can be a magical experience! Again -- so your Dgang didn't have that!
When we went there for breakfast nothing was replenished (fruit, pastry basket or hot platter). I'm sure they would've if we had asked but our server wasn't that available to us so we didn't bother. We had the same experience at Ohana and LTT in terms of the "all you can eat" aspect.
We ate at CRT in May and I was not overly impressed especially for the price. We enjoyed the breakfast at Akerhus much more and the princesses spent more time for pictures. I loved the atomosphere at CRT but I don't know if I would go again.
The food was about the same as everywhere else, the server we had this last time did the disappearing act too, and the princesses spent enough time for pics with my ds. If it were anyplace else, I'd say we wouldn't be going back. But there is just something about having breakfast at the castle for me. Even without the princesses I would still go every trip.

I prefer the lunch at CRT. It seems less rushed than the breakfast. We have had no problem getting the princesses to stop at our table at lunch and my kids love the swords!
Breakfast at CRT is one of our favorite meals First off, we love the atmosphere of being in the castle. DS thinks the French toast is the best in the world there and always gets seconds of it! We've never had a problem getting our fruit refilled either. Perhaps some of the servers are too rushed and that's why you weren't asked if anyone wanted more As far as the princess interaction we've always thought that to be above par at CRT, too. They've flirted with Luke which has always been adorable how each princess is into her character and does it differenly with him Belle has had lengthy conversations with Brooke about reading, the Fairy Godmother has asked them about their wishes and dreams, etc. I'm sorry so many people have had less than magical experiences there - that makes me sad because we love it so much!
It's too bad your service wasn't up to par, and worse yet since you had a large party they already tacked the 18% gratuity on. It's times like that that I don't agree with the automatic tip.
