As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Received my DME tags and info in the mail today and have a couple of questions. I apologize if this has been asked 49 times already
1. I only received two luggage tags for DH and I. In the past, we've always gotten a total of 4. Does this have to do with the airlines wanting to discourage people from checking more than 1 bag each by adding on fees for any extra bags? Unfortunately, I've never been a "light" packer but am planning on paring it down to "only" 3 checked bags for this upcoming trip. Am I going to have to pare it down even further to just 2 checked bags now? Can I get another luggage tag? We leave the 26th; is it too late to get another one?
2. We booked a package through Disney for the first time, and I'm a bit confused about how to check my flights with the airline. All my stuff from Disney says to reconfirm my flight times directly with the airline, and I'd love to do that, but not sure how. I've always booked the airline through Expedia or something like that before, so I had confirmation numbers for my tix. All I have now is the confirmation # that Disney gave me for my whole package. How can I check my flight times with the airline if I don't have a confirmation # for them?

You can call DME and request more tags. I believe there is still time for you to get it. If you don't get it before you leave, you will need to pick that bag up and take it on the bus with you.
As for your confirmation #, call Disney and ask them for the airline confirmation # and the airline. They should be able to give it to you. I believe you will get a packet with all your information in it a couple weeks before you leave. Someone else may know about that.
1) you really need to find out your flight confirmation number, flight number and airline with disney
2) know what your airline policy is for checking luggage - will they allow more luggage for free or will they charge you....and then call DME to get more luggage tags.
They only send one tag per person now. You have to request additional tags.
But each strip is TWO tags. If you read the back of the tag it tells you to split the tag in the center and use it for two bags....If you look very closely, the center of the tag is perferated in order to do this. Also, you will notice that your information is printed on each end of the strip, making it possible to split it in two...we just did this in June when we went.

I just read every word on the back of both DME tags, and I didn't see anything telling me I could split the tags in two. Yes, my information is on both "portions" of the tag, but I don't see anything indicating I can use them as separate tags. I think I'll give DME a call in the morning and just see if they can send me an extra tag or two. I'm almost positive I'll get charged for the extra bag, but I'm willing to deal with that, 'cause I don't think there's any chance I'll be able to condense everything down to a total of 2 bags and 2 carry-ons for DH and I. Like I said, I can get it down to 3 (since we're not going for as long as we usually do) but 2 would be *really* pushing it!
to those who posted about calling Disney directly for the flight confirmation numbers. I'll be doing that in the morning, too!

I'm looking at my tag right now and the first instruction is:
1. Remove "PEEL OFF THIS PORTION ONLY" where indicated.
It doesn't say anything about splitting the tag to create two. We booked through Disney too.
We leave next month...that's weird that they would change the tags over the course of a month!!

That is sooooo weird...I wonder if this has something to do with booking air through them because we did our air on our own! I never would have known to split the tags but someone here pointed it out to me prior to the trip!!! Well, in the end it seems like it easy to call and get extra tags anyway, just weird about the difference!!
You can call DME to request an additional set of luggage tags, it usually takes about a week. The # for DME is 1-866-599-0951. You can also call the WDW reservation center to get your airline confirmation #. Have a great trip!
I had to pull out my tags this morning to look at the back just out of curiosity. Ours aren't perforated in the middle and don't say anything about splitting them in half either. How strange.
We requested additional tags and it only took 4 or 5 days to get them.
we went in may and were able to split ours in 2 also. we booked our own airline this time but when we went in september of 2007 we booked with disney and had the same exact baggage tags. i used mine on 2.
to everyone for their help! I just called DME and requested additonal tags. The guy said they should be here in about 4-5 days, so plenty of time before we leave. 5SOXFNZ, I checked my tags again to compare them with the pics you posted. The front of mine looks the same as yours, but the back has your second direction as my first...nothing about splitting them. I did book directly through Disney, so maybe that's the difference, though I have no idea why. This is the first time I've ever booked airfare through Disney, but I don't remember my tags in the past saying anything about being able to split them either. Hmmm, maybe they're trying to save some paper? If that's the case, then good for them! Whatever the reason, my "dilemna" has been solved for the moment. Just interesting about the differences. Thanks again for everybody's assistance!
