As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I have the Passporter Open Mouse but I didn't see nothing about DL is it me or it's written and I didn't see it

Thanks for your help !
Hello! Good to "meet" you!
I know that PassPorter has a special guide for Disneyland, and I'm sure one of the guides who worked on the DL book will give you some more info.
Disney is pretty consistent with quality and attention to guests, so I would be surprised if you did not get the same consideration for your allergies in DL. Since I've never been to DL, though, I won't say for certain!
I am certain that someone who had been to DL will be on soon to give you a definite answer to your question.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.
Basically you talk to the chef or manager. I can give you hints if you tell me what allergies you have. The gluten free list is at times out of date. All other allergens say to see the chef.
I have asked people to go to another site and get my database but nobody will help. I wrote the ultimate guide to DLR gluten free dining with comments on other allergens.
Most important is how allergic you are and knowing what brands they use. I can go to any website and read the ingredients for Heinz mayo and ketchup or Edy's/Dreyer's ice cream. How easy depends on the severity of the allergies, complexity, and the allergens themselves.
I sleep from 6 am to 5 pm for aboutu 3 to 6 hours a day so as you can see I am asleep right now.
Generally I adapt and do fine with my limitations thought it can be very frustrating like at the carnation cafe where they gave me a hot dog bun hold the onions and cheese with a chunk of ground steak. ooh veggies. I poured ketchup on it and swallowed it but left the veggies. This is the first time I was served that garbage at a DLR park. GF does not mean cheese and onion free. I have SID and crave and love grilled cheese sandwiches, grilled cheese and ham sandwiches and philly steak sandwiches. I was so looking for what I crave and love, melted cheese and cooked onions but just sat there looking at that plain food.
They are trying hard at DLR but some restaurants are small and outdated. Love the cheddarburgers at Taste Pilots as they have gluten free buns and I never get sick except a tiny buzz from the cheese. now that is something to sleep on, thoughts of food.

I don't have any experience with DL but we went last year to WDW and dealt with more than one food allergy with DS. Everyone we talked to was very helpful. The chef at CM's went above and beyond what we were expecting.
I'm sure they are just as great to work with as those at WDW. I would expect any thing from Disney. Hopefully someone who has been to DL will respond soon. Otherwise I would maybe contact person at WDW and see if they give you the name of the person to contact at DL. If you need that information send me a PM.
Here's what I got right from Disneyland's site.
"Special dietary needs — including vegetarian and medically restricted diets — can often be accommodated at select table-service restaurants. Please request special meals at least 24 hours in advance at (714) 781-DINE (3463)"
I think you should give them a call & discuss your needs directly with them.

I am in agonnnnnnnnyyyyyy, ouch ouch. Just back from Granville Restaurant at the Disneyland Hotel.
The chef talked to me about my diet, very nice dude. They have Energ brand of gluten free. They have a sorbet that is dairy free in theory OOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
He started me off with field greens, onions, tomato slices, and cucumbers drizzled iwth balsamic vinegar and oil iwth mustard for dressing. Then cam 7 ounces of filet mignon but they do not put bacon on theirs, thankfully. It had onions and green herbs on the side. It was so tender and just gray enough to be perfect for me. There was this heaping pile of smasthed taters that was sheer blish. I got pretty full.
Dessert was a long white platter maybe 8 nches deep and over a goot wide it seems. There was banilla scoop and chocolate scoop of Dreyer's ice cream. The left was vanilla with a chcoate disc in the shape of a Mickey head with a white face. It was circled with lemon syrup. On the right the chocolate had a spring of mint and was circled by raspberry syrup. Around the chocolate was bits of hard stuff taht is supposed to be chocolate but seemed more like cooca bean, not sure.
Now you know why I am in pain, I ate and ate and ate and ate and am about to burst.
For dairy talk to the chefs is their answer. I can go expoliriing if I ever get back to parks but the car is a gonner and I will have to use the scooter for shopping.
In theory you should be fine with the tortillas. REad the menus and do write Bill as he is a nice guy. Nap time, not supposed to do chocolate and dairy lol. They done spoiled me again.
Dole whips have a bit of cassein in them so they are lactose free but not totally vegan or dairy free.

Hate to be the divergent opinion but for our family, DLR pales in comparison to the handling of food allergies. We travel often to WDW in part because of the excellent availability of both packaged and scratch made items.
We took our first trip to DLR last year and found the availability of snacks and counter service foods to be much more limited. We had pretty good success with sit down restaurants with exception for the night my DD fruit plate came out with a nice bowl of yogurt for dipping (dairy is among her worst allergy) or another night when the server kept offering up gluten free, dairy laden options (no gluten allergy).
Unlike WDW, there is no centralized person or lists that are maintained in terms of what foods are available at what location. It makes it a bit challenging in terms of grab and go type items.
None the less, DLR does a better job than average and it won't stop us from returning next month. We just know to bring specific snacks with us and plan more sit down meals.

OLD THREAD
Wish people would not bump two year old threads.
Dani you are right that DLR is not as good as WDW for allergens and food.
I so want onion rings and eat fried glop in my efforts to make an onion ring. We are not loved out here like WDW.

you're right, Laurie...i missed that it was an old thread...oops!
I will tell you that supposedly changes are coming to DLR and they would like to streamline the allergy/special dining so it more closely approximates WDW...which would be great for all you West Coasters!
As a side note, if you come to WDW, Chef Bob at Sci Fi made the most amazing safe onion rings I have ever tasted.

No worries but things change in time so what was said 2 or 5 years ago may be wrong now. It is getting easier a little bit.
