As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

After a year spent in and out of the hospital with numerous painful procedures, our 5 year old, tink (yes, that is really what she goes by) is happy and healthy. We are celebrating her bday on our first trip to wdw in sept (although her birthday will not actually happen while we are there. She spent her birthday in a painful place that we are trying to forget) My question is, for all my tink experts, what can I do to make her day "tink-fabulous?" To say she is a tink fanatic is an understatement. We are doing numerous character meals, but there is no meal with tink. So what do we do? This beautiful little sprite has been through so much this year, and has remained precious and loving through it all. She deserves to have something special, so I would appreciate any help you guys can give us.
THanks for the help

We have already booked our bbb for her and her three sisters (after all, when one suffers in a family, we all suffer. And her sisters have been so good with her thru all of this.) We are going to get tink's autograph if I have to stand all day to get it. I have struggled with how much I want to draw attention to this, she is so happy to be a "normal little girl." I guess I should call and ask, what could it hurt
I would go to Tink's Store and ask to wake her up. It used to be the first thing
in the morning but there has been some talk that it can happen anytime of day.
Just ask the CM there. The store is just beyond the castle in the MK.

I am trying to get more info about this, she would love it. I had read about it in a book, and it said to be the first in the store. However, another passporter thread says that it is no longer done this way. I guess children are chosen. I am trying to find out how best to be in the running to be chosen.
Thanks for the feedback
If you could slip into the store the day prior and talk with the CM they would be able to tell you, tell them the situation. I have done the run like crazy thing to get into the shop first (actually dd did the sprinting, I just caught up with her) and it was a race with at least two other families. The CM asked if my dd would mind if others helped to wake up Tink, and my dd didn't care as long as she got to do it, so everyone was happy. But just try to talk to the CM in the shop before you go in so your dd is not disappointed. (I have been down that road as well) I took the book (sorry I am not recalling the title at this moment) to have Tink sign instead of just an autograph book, but I would think they would do both. I hope you have the photo cd/with photographer standing by for all the special moments HAVE A MAGICAL TIME!!!!!
sara
I had a photopass picture taken where I held out my hands and they put a picture of Tink in them. It was taken in Epcot at the park entrance in front of Spaceship Earth. That might be a cute souvenir for your daughter where it actually looks like she is holding Tink in her hands. I tried to post a copy of the picture for you so you can see what I mean.
Hope your trip is very special!

Yes! The photopass picture is a great idea!!
Definitely visit the fairies, she will just love it!!
Maybe you could even get some special items to surprise her everyday. Like a tink t-shirt, temporary tattoos, stickers that sort of thing. You could have tink (aka mom) leave her a note with her surprise everyday.
They do have a set of tinkerbell mickey ears, they are purple with tink on the front, get them personalized. We got ours at the shop in Toontown.
My Maddy just loves tink as well.
Hope you can find the magic you are looking for.
OMG!!!! What cute ideas. I LOVE it. The book is an excellent idea, we have a really nice book of fairies w/all the movie characters in a beautiful hardback. My tink loves it, so she would love getting the real "tink's" autograph in it. I will try talking to the cm of tink's treasures. We are going to a. m.emh one day, will tink's treasures be open during this time or does it wait to open with the park? I could talk to the cm the day before so she can wake up tink this day?
The picture is amazing!!!! How did you get them to do it? All four of my daughters are tink fans (especially since we have our own tink in the family.) My 14 is probably the biggest besides the 5year old. She didn't use to be, but she has acquired the tink-bug since little sister came along. She's been the biggest help through tink's illness since she is the oldest. I would love to get one for her too. Do I tell the cm taking the picture or is it something you photoshop in later?
I love the idea of Tinkerbell (aka mom) leaving some special gifts for her each morning. I have also had some baskets done by Betsy (memoriesbybetsy.com). She does great work, you could e-mail her and see if she could have a basket put together with some "Tinkerbell" stuff, like one of the autograph books, maybe a pin lanyard with tink pins...then she could do the card from Tinkerbell herself and it will be waiting when you check in.
Just a small morsel of advice here: Have her wear something green when she goes to see Tink at Pixie Hollow in Toontown fair. My fiance at the time wore a green sweatshirt, put put it on the floor while we met Iridessa because it was warm. Tink tried to sneak over and steal the green sweatshirt while we were meeting Iridessa. Claimed she could make a blanket out of it. Anyway, that made Tink seem much more playful. (She still wears that sweatshirt at least a few minutes a day, and it's June!)

The picture is amazing!!!! How did you get them to do it?
When you see a photopass photographer in the MK ask them if they will do the tinkerbell picture for you. They will have your daughter pose with her hands together and somehow through digital technology tink appears in the picture. We did quite a few of these on our last trip. They are really fun!
First I am happy everyone is healthy and happy and hope you have a wonderful trip you truly do deserve it.
Some ideas.
BBB and you can purchase a tinkerbell outfit for her to get into instead of a princess one. I saw a few out in the store on our way in.
Fairy greeting, the only place we knew they were at was MK in toontown.
Photopass, ask for the tinkerbell in the hand pic.
A week or so before you leave enlist a family friend to call and be Tinkerbell on the phone. Tell them she heard they were coming and she was so excited to get to meet them in person. Or instead of a phone call write a letter and mail it to the girls. Teastain the paper to make it look like a scroll.
Perhaps you can have 'Tinkerbell' sneak into your room each night and leave a gift for each of the girls. Wrap it in green paper, ribbon, and sprinkle it with glitter and leave a trail of glitter/pixie dust heading for the window. The gift can range from costumes to autograph books, whatever the girls like.
Get each of the girls a lanyard with a selection of pins of their fav character
I would call ahead and ask a CM if there is anything special they can do. I know one person told the front desk it was her daughters B-Day while they were there. The CM asked who the fav character was, and when the family returned the next day there was an autographed photo for her daughter.
Good luck and have fun, make sure you let us know what you decide to do

I know others have recommended this, but I wanted to show my support for the idea. Call Disney! They might work some magic for you and even if they don't they might have some more suggestions. I believe you can hire characters for certain venues (?) I'm not sure about that...
I'm so glad your daughter is doing better! I know she'll have a magical time in WDW.
