Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

HELP - What\'s the going rate for the tooth fairy these days?

My 7 yr old son lost his 2nd tooth today and I have no idea what the tooth fairy gives out these days.

When I was a kid, I think I got a dollar for my first tooth and a dime after that. Yes, I'm that old.

What do your kids get?

When DD lost her first tooth DH said she should get $10, when the second one fell out, I voted for $1 but she got $5.

Re: HELP - What\'s the going rate for the tooth fairy these days?

Well my DD is 15 now, but a FEW years ago it was a dollar a tooth! Front teeth-$5.00 each
Funny Story:
I remember "Daddy" calling me on a Saturday nite, DD had lost a tooth while I was at work. He said he didn't have any "Dollars" on him and he was going to bed and for me to remember to put something in the "Tooth pillow" when I got home. Well I got busy at work,(I had worked a double) got home long after midnight, took a shower and flopped into bed. (You can see where this is going right?)
Next morning DD is wondering why the "tooth fairy" didn't leave anything! Well Daddy and I almost spit out our coffee,
I thought fast and told her "When you loose a tooth late in the evening, the tooth fairy probably doesn't know about it till the next day, because she is SO busy at night!" Well, thank goodness she was ok with it..
So All you Mom & Dads out there: Remember to have a spare dollar around at all times when your kids are growing up!

Re: HELP - What\'s the going rate for the tooth fairy these days?

Pooh's Pal, I can relate because I did the same kind of thing on Easter when my son was 5. He came into our bedroom after looking all over the house for his Easter treats from the Easter bunny. I told him to go play a computer game and I would look for it. I "found" his Easter basket on the stove in the kitchen behind the tea kettle!

Thanks for answering me so quickly - maybe I'll leave him 2 dollars this time.

Re: HELP - What\'s the going rate for the tooth fairy these days?

As a kid, which I pretty much still am at 20, I got a quarter for each tooth. Taught me not to treat anyone, real or fictional as an ATM machine. A quarter would buy me a small toy or candy in a supermarket vending machine, that was plenty for me!

My girls, ( ages 21 and 19) got a dollar a tooth. And might I add... I am really depressed to realize I am old enough to be Brant's mother...

It's a good thing my kids don't read this or they would be moving outLOL. They got and still get .50 for each tooth and on our oldest's last tooth she got a golden dollar. Oh I think they got a dollar for the first, too.

I think I might have a few loose teeth for you tooth fairies out there.

Re: HELP - What\'s the going rate for the tooth fairy these days?

Mt nephew gets $1. But, I have a cute tooth loosing story. Mikey is going to be 6 on Feb 2. On Christmas Day he arrived at my parents house for the present opening. He quickly came through the living room to tell everyone that he had a very loose tooth and that he had to go to the bathroom so we had to wait for him to open presents. Down the hall he went and he wouldn't close the bathroom door because he was afraid we would start without him. He was in there for quite a while. The whole time lecturing us about starting without him and telling us that he was doing a #2 so it might take a little longer and then he would have to wash his hands. Well in the middle of his non-stop jabbering he lost his tooth and started screaming that he had lost his tooth and there was a little blood and then the Christmas presents weren't even important to him anymore. He was so proud of loosing his first tooth on the toilet , at Gramma and Papa's on Christmas Day.

Re: HELP - What\'s the going rate for the tooth fairy these days?

We also forgot to leave money under the pillow for my son , so my husband told him that it was the Tooth Fairy's vacation day (she went to Disney ), and she would bring it for him the next day.

Also, my son gets a dollar for the front teeth, and $.50 for the others. His friends get more, but because we use Silver Dollars and Half Dollars, he thinks it is better than "regular" money.

Re: HELP - What\'s the going rate for the tooth fairy these days?

Hi All,

My DS is going on nine and has been getting $2. Usually the dollar or half-dollar coins. More likely to end up in his bank.

This was great: We went to the the Animal Kingdom Lodge the end of last September and guess who lost a tooth while we were there? Yup! My then 8yr old son. Did you know the tooth fairy that covers WDW gives out Disney dollars!! TRUE!!

He's got a great story now... I think he spent the money on video games? I forget.

My kids are 8 and 6. They get a dollar a tooth......but only dollar coins, so they are more special! I make sure I've always got some on hand (get them as change at the Post Office stamp dispensers), just in case. 6 year old has two loose teeth right now. -HiddenMickey

Re: HELP - What\'s the going rate for the tooth fairy these days?

I appreciate your realism, Brant. And you're not even a parent to be so wise in accepting what your parents did as good.
I'm with Sleeping B: .50/tooth. My dh complained that I'm cheap but I explained that ds tooth fairy pillow has a special pocket for the money which would not hold a dollar bill, probably not even half dollar. Maybe for molars we'll get gold dollar coins.
Actually, my son is 8 and is working on his 4th tooth so he's very attached to them and won't even put them in his tooth pillow pocket for the tooth fairy to take. I've decided he gets paid anyway. Imagine his junk drawers as a college student.

I did have a friend laugh at my payment amt as she gives her dd(11 years) $10 for molars. Maybe if the tooth fairy paid more ds would try to get the teeth out quicker and I won't have to pay the orthodontist as much later. Hmmm.
