Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

What does your Christmas tree look like this year?.........

Ours is quite different, thanks to Maggie Shannon and her friend kindly decorated it for me this year and Maggie decided she didn't want any decorations on the lower 1/3rd of the tree.

The tree is a 5' fiber optic which was beautifully decorated with glass ornaments of all types (plus is sitting up on top of an antique table). Princess Magdalena decided she didn't care for some of the decorations and had broke many while removing them from the tree. I am so thankful she didn't eat any of the glass but could clobber her for breaking my German nutcracker ornaments.... grrrrrrr

Now that the tree isn't new anymore, she has been leaving it alone. However, I am not going to chance on putting back ornaments on the lower 1/3rd of the tree.

Do you have a theme for your tree? Old/new decorations? etc.....

Re: What does your Christmas tree look like this year?.........

I suppose you would call mine "Old Fashion" or "Traditional". The ornaments are mostly wood, with a few gold "metal" ornaments. Most of them are things like sledges, nutcrackers, snowmen, rocking horses, things like that. I have strings of red wooden beads, and NO TINSLE! I hate the stuff.
An old fashion looking angel is on the top.

What about yours?

Re: What does your Christmas tree look like this year?.........

Well, I have to say, my tree looks alot like Debe's, difference being that my "maggie" is actually a 2year old "Danny". Now I have learned alot from my older two, so I chose not to decorate with glass bulbs this year, I kept to my bows and garland. Not as nice, but baby safe.
HOWEVER.....the garland has been yanked everywhich way from sunday...the bows are gone from the bottom limbs....and....it is now decorated with matchbox cars and other toys that my darling Danny thought would look nice....found the remote in there the other day, after searching for hours! I have a 7 ft slim alpine tree that looks like something that would be found at Wilderness Lodge. I went with the deep red/burgundy and gold theme with white lights along with my burlap tree skirt, burlap Santa and Reindeer. Debbie: I know what ya mean about Maggie, Major had that same problem in his puppy years. He actually didn't care for my mother's christmas village she had so painstakingly set up and starting chewing up the little people, cars and the "snow". Needless to say, she could have clobbered him LOL!

Re: What does your Christmas tree look like this year?.........

We have a great looking artificial pre lit tree in the TV room. In the living room we have a "Charlie Brown" real tree that we cut down at a tree farm. The pickings were slim and after an hour of trudging around we cut down "any one". But, I guess it needed a home. Next year I bet there will be two artificial trees here.

Re: What does your Christmas tree look like this year?.........

My tree also has a "pet" problem! Primarily, it is my five cats! The bottom third really cannot have any decorations. My tree has white lights and an angel on top. I actually got the angel for Christmas as a child! Each year, as we "test" our lights, we pray that the angel will still work. As for decorations, I have gold glass ornaments on the tree. The gold ornaments are supplemented with ornaments that we pick up on all of our vacations, trips, etc. We always try and get a gold "rememberance" ornament, but it doesn't always work that way. It is fun to look at all the ornaments each year as we unpack them and remember what we have done, where we have been etc.

Re: What does your Christmas tree look like this year?.........

The best thing about this year's Christmas tree is that I finally have the WDW RR running around the bottom of it. The bottom third of my tree is missing decoration because the track in the corner under the tree keeps coming apart, making me drop to the floor and belly-crawl under the tree to fix the track. ( This belly is a little bigger than maggie and Danny.)
Of course a beatutiful star sits atop my tree. I also have a beautiful creche sitting in an alcove next to the tree.

Re: What does your Christmas tree look like this year?.........

We didn't do a tree this year. This is a very busy time of year at school and since we just moved, it seems the days fly by. We decided we would rather spend the time unpacking boxes.

We did put the spot light on the garage door. I have a slide illuminated on the door of the real Tigger, not my doggie, wishing everyone a Happy Holiday.

I might sneak a little tree in my cart when I go to the store today.

My tree has white lights. We have a strand of red garland and a strand of blue garland around it. This strands have been in my ornament box for years. They just somehow felt right this year. Most of ornaments are homemade by me. There are a few others that aren't but at least 85% are. We have an angel on top.

New, artificial tree, white twinkling (not blinking!) lights, and our huge collection of Hallmark ornaments, Disney Ornaments, and other misc. ornaments we have gathered over the 21 years of marraige! I call it a hodge-podge tree, no theme, just decorated with memories!

Re: What does your Christmas tree look like this year?.........

We have a real tree that is decorated with color lights and has three themes of ornaments on it. We decided to put Disney ornaments, my Star Wars Hallmart ornaments, and DH's Green Bay Packer ornaments on the tree. There was no room for any of our other bulbs this year. I think next year we will get a fake tree for the above ornaments and a real one for the rest of the ornaments. What an ordeal a tree is!

We have a rel tree with white lights. No tinsel! Most of our ornaments have been purchased at craft fairs or the kids have made. I have not put any glass ones on the tree since the kids were born. Maybe next year since I think they are old enough not to touch them now.

Re: What does your Christmas tree look like this year?.........

Fun question - I wish I could see all your lovely trees

Our tree is a real balsam (we cut it down the weekend after Thanksgiving so it's about had it) which is Disney themed with small colored lights - some of which blink when the mood strikes them (wish they wouldn't do that!) - and no garland or tinsel due to the kitties. We had to put a gate up around it so Shane would be safe - and vice versa

Peace, love & ºoº

Re: What does your Christmas tree look like this year?.........

Last year we had to up grade to a wider tree(artifcial)because the old one was to crowded. I use three different types of lights on it. A strand of white twincle lights on the in side, a line of c7 lights and a line of round bulbs. My Sil does not like the larger bulbs and starts to twich when she sees them. Our family is very crafty so a majority of the ordaments are hand made with remenberence ones too. our cats do not mess with the tree luckily. but they do eat some of the tinsle. Sometimes there is some festive kitty poo in the liter. The angel on top was made by my aunt, she croshadded it and starched it so it would stand up.
Merry Christmas, Bobºoº

We have a not-so-impressive Pooh angel on top of our tree. I'm sure you can all guess who is responsible for that.
