As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

WHO: 5 Adults, 2 Teens, 5 Kids Adult #1 & #2 are DH(36) and myself(33) we are basically playing tour guide this trip since half our “extras” have never been to WDW before and my SIL and her son haven’t been for probably 10 years and have not been to all the parks. This is fine by us though, we can’t wait to show them the magic. Adult #3 My sister Denise (45) we are paying her way because in the beginning we just wanted to have more people go and couldn’t find anyone who could come up with the money and out of my three sisters she really has never been anywhere and things are quite tight for her, so why should that mean she doesn’t ever get to experience the magic of Disney. Adult # 4 Dh’s twin sister, Jan(36). She’s been to WDW twice before, but it’s been about 10 years, she’s never been to Epcot and not sure if she’s been to DHS or not. We’ve been trying to convince her to go with us ever since our first trip 2 years ago, but her dh is a teacher and doesn’t want to use any personal time which would mean a summer trip, which dh and I are not at all keen on the idea of roasting in Florida in July, so she’s coming without him……..lol. Adult # 5 Dh’s sister, Frosty (40 something). She’s actually taking the place of Jan’s daughter who was supposed to go, but do to unforeseen events won’t be able to join us so Jan offered Frosty the spot since she had already paid for the tickets. She’s like my sister, never been anywhere and would never be able to afford to go to WDW on her own. Teen # 1 My nephew Josh (18) he is Jan’s son, so last time he was at WDW he was my kids’ age. He is very excited to go. Teen # 2 My niece, Heather (18). Not from the sister that’s going along……..lol. She babysits my kiddo’s on weekends that both dh and I work and is very dependable, we are paying her way too. (we have a problem with wanting to show as many people as possible how awesome WDW is no matter what the cost……lol, thank God for big income tax checks) She’s never been to WDW either, but is very excited to go. Kids All five are ours, Raven 11, Slade 9, and triplets Denissa, Skye, and Ridge are 7 this will be our 3rd annual trip down. Oh if they only knew how truly spoiled they are. WHEN: We are departing from our house on April 20th, hopefully around 6pm. We are renting a 12 passenger van and driving all the way from Pennsylvania, this should be interesting. We will arrive in WDW sometime the 21rst and leave to come back home early in the AM on the 28th. Originally we were going to drive straight back as well, but now we are leaning heavily towards driving about 10-12 hours then stopping to stay where ever we land for the night and finish the trip on the 29th. WHERE: Staying at the Pop Century Resort for the second time! CELEBRATION: The two teens are graduating this year, but really we are just celebrating the fun of watching everyone who’s never been here before get sucked in by the magic.

So this is our plan as of now, we just recently had to rearrange things because we found out the night we were going to see Fantasmic was not a night they were having it! I think they changed their schedule, because I swear I checked that out when I made our original plan.
As I mentioned we are playing tour guide for most of the group, even the SIL who has been there because she's one of those who went with no plan and missed half the attractions because of that, plus she's never stayed on property before. We keep telling her once she sees how wonderful it is, she'll never want to stay off site again. So at any rate, lucky for us no one objects to us planning the whole itinerary so dh and I get to go to town with it.........
Tuesday, April 21, 2009......Arrive at Pop Century, we're thinking around 12-1pm. No hard set plans for this day, in case we get there later than planned. Just get there get unpacked and unwind, maybe swim a little in the pool. Possibly go to Downtown Disney in the evening or miniature golf.
Wednesday, April 22, 2009......Animal Kingdom with reservations at the Tuskerhouse at 1pm.
Thursday, April 23, 2009.......Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure, we're hoping we're not biting off more than we can chew by doing both parks in one day, we've been to US and IOA doesn't look like it has as many attractions, so let's hope we get through it all.
Friday, April 24, 2009.......Epcot with reservations for the Grand Gathering experience, Illuminations Dinner and Dessert reception at the Odyssey Restaurant at 7:30pm which of course gives us special seating to watch Illuminations.
Saturday, April 25, 2009.......Magic Kingdom with reservations at the Whispering Canyons at 1:50pm. (We'll take the boat over and then come back to MK for more fun) Watching SpectroMagic Parade and Wishes.
Sunday, April 26, 2009.......Technically this is our scheduled day off, but we do have reservations at Hollywood and Vine at 5:15pm and then staying to watch Fantasmic that evening. Other than that in the morning and afternoon we'll probably wash some clothes, go play miniature golf if we didn't the first night, or maybe go catch an afternoon movie on Pleasure Island.
Monday, April 27, 2009........Hollywood Studios with reservations at 2:45pm at Sci-fi Diner.
Tuesday, April 28, 2009........Departing sadly from the happiest place on earth back to our humdrum lives
We will probably ride almost all the rides, although I don't plan to do Rock and Roll Roller Coaster or the two big coasters at IOA. Even our kids love all the rides, I am soo glad we don't have timid kids.

Your plans sound great. It will be fun with so many people to celebrate with. Hope you have a great trip. It's not to far off now. It will be here before you know it.
16 days and counting!!! Yesterday I made up the kids' grab bags, I put about 3 items per bag and made 4 bags per kid. 2 for the way down and 2 for the trip home, I ended up with a few extra things though so I might just make 3 grab bags per kid for the trip home. I sealed each one up so there's no clues what is in each bag and divided them into girls vs. boys, I figure I try to space them out evenly as far as when I hand them out. I went to the dollar tree and found so many neat things for $1 like magic card trick decks and puzzles, etc. I think I've finally bought all the clothes we need, we bought our gps last week plus a car cell phone charger. This week I've got to switch gears and prepare for Easter though. My daughter was complaining because I didn't put up any decorations yet.......lol. Truth be told with being so excited about Disney I kind of forgot about Easter coming up! So so far that is where we are.
