As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Mode of transportation: Truck (it's only a 3 hr drive)
Hotel: Disneyland Hotel
Who: Me, my husband and my two boys who are 12 and 6
Hello all. First off, thank you to everyone that has helped me out these last couple of weeks answering questions to this totally clueless Disneyer.
Arrived at DLH approx 10 at night. Check-in was a breeze. Got everyone settled in and unpacked. The hotel is bigger than I expected which is great. Love that there is a little daybed/sleeper sofa thingy and we are picking up the free wifi from the lobby. We are on the fifth floor, overlooking the entrance to the DLH. Not the best, but hey, for the discount we got, I'm not going to complain I suppose.
DS6 fell asleep right away. DS12 talked on the phone with friends while DH and I went to enjoy an adult beverage at The Lost Bar. Cute little place
Laid down about midnight. While everyone else was sound asleep and snoring all night, I was restless. I was like a little kid on Christmas eve. Needless to say I couldn't sleep. I woke up at 5:30, put on a sweatshirt and brushed my teeth and headed down for coffee. Unfortunately, the little coffee shop doesn't open until 6. I waited for them to open for me to get my mandatory morning cup o joe. ICK! Never again, that's for sure. I drank half just to get a caffeine boost then tossed the rest. The free hotel coffee I had later was better.
Head back upstairs to the room to start getting ready and DS6 wakes up. Red cheeks and all. I give him a hug and OMG~the child has a fever. He proceeds to tell me he has to throw up. Sure enough, he's SICK I got him some Motrin from downstairs. After contemplating on what we should do, he convinced us he was feeling better and really wanted to go to the park. We figured we'd take him, but the first sign he showed that he wasn't feeling good, we'd bring him back. Poor bubba.
Made it into the park quickly around 8:30. Easy and painless process. It was also a gorgeous morning with cool crisp air and the sun just a shining.
Star Tours was our first stop for DS6. We wanted to get his stuff done first thing in the morning because we knew he wouldn't last long. He enjoyed it and was ready to hit the parks. Did some other rides, got pics with Mickey then off to the Jedi Training. The place
wasn't half as packed as I expected. We were right up front, and DS said "Mom, I don't want to, I'm too nervous". I knew right then and there he didn't feel well because that's NOT the kid he normally is. However, we stayed and watched. It was REALLY COOL, and I'm NOT a Star Wars fan. We decided to grab some lunch and take DS back to the room. He FELL ASLEEP in my lap while we were eating. The temp dropped quite a bit really fast and it started to downpour. We took turns carrying him back to the monorail, then back to the room, where we fed him a lunch of water and Motrin.
DH stayed in the room with him while me and DS12 went back to the park, ponchos and all, in the pouring rain. It was awesome. Little to no waiting in any lines!! Pirates was about a 15 min wait, Splash Mountain was NO wait~~when we got done with it, the guy asked if we just wanted to stay on and ride again because there was NO ONE in line. Left there and was surprised when I saw that the Haunted Mansion was open. Wasn't supposed to open until tomorrow. A little disappointing, but still fun. Space Mountain was a 15 min wait! I could not believe it! I think so far that is my favorite ride in the park. We got some coffee/hot chocolate to warm up with and did some shopping. Had to get DS6 some "get well soon" souveniers. It stopped raining and the sun came back up before it set. It made a really pretty rainbow over the park. "Magical" almost. Came back to the room around 7 tonight, and by 7:30, DH and DS12 were out the door to hit the parks. DS6 fell asleep at 2 this afternoon and is still sleeping. I need to wake him up to give him more Motrin. I'm just very glad he only had the one vomiting fit. Please pray he's better by morning~~he really wants to get to the parks. I feel so bad for him.
We're here until Monday. We had 2 more days in the parks. Tomorrow is supposed to be clear and sunny with a high of 60. Let's hope it stays that way!

Well, it's 7 in the morning and it doesn't look like we'll make it to the parks for early entry. DH and DS got in at almost midnight last night. They had a blast. They went to the ESPN Sports Zone for dinner and had burgers and wings and said the food was awesome.
Younger DS is feeling a tad better this morning. Doesn't want to eat breakfast but says he wants to go to the parks. Woke up with just a mild grade fever but the motrin has already kicked in and he's eating dry cereal. I'm working on my second cup of coffee, then I'm ready to hit the showers and get the fam to the parks!
Oh, and of all things we forgot to pack (me) it was my MAKEUP! Whaaaa! I was fine with it until I saw our photopass pics Oh well, there are worse things I suppose.
Will update more later. Can't wait for another fun filled, exciting day!

Sounds like you're having a good time to spite the illness. I sure hope the little guy feels better soon! Enjoy the rest of your stay!! Going home is sad, I cried a little when we drove out of the resort on the bus.

Glad to hear DS is feeling better! I know what you mean about the makeup, but you're right - there are far worse things. Hope you're having a magical day!
OMG, we had an awesome time, despite illnesses, no makeup, crappy coffee and a 5 1/2 hr drive home (traffic was backed up--normally 3 hrs). We had no choice but to make the best out of it!
I'm so tired and have so much to do tonight (baths, school uniforms ready, laundry, etc) I'll update the rest of our trip tomorrow night.

Welcome home! Glad to hear that you had a good time. You didn't find decent coffee eh? I though the stuff from Compass Books was entirely drinkable, and La Brea was brewing SBUX House Blend.
I avoided the Nescafe' like the plague Next time I think I'll get a pot in our room.
What troopers you are, sickness and all. And I'm amazed that anybody can get up in time for early entry - especially when you're enjoying yourselves out late the night before. Sounds like you're having a great time!
Well, the rest of the trip was great. Rides were a blast!
Dinner at the Jazz Cafe was great.
Fantasmic and the fireworks were awesome. We all loved the Pixar Parade at CA.
My favorite ride is a tossup between Space Mountain, the Roller Coaster and the Tower of Terror. We also really enjoyed Pirates.
Little man felt a tad better the second day. I stayed in the room with him the first night while DH and DS12 went to the parks until 11 that night. The next day, DH stayed in the room with him until noon then we all met up and stayed out until about midnight. The third day, we all hit the parks all day and stayed out all night again.
It was definately an experience. I loved staying on property. It just gave it a magical little feel and really helped when DS was sick (with the monorail and all).
I would love to go again, but not anytime soon LOL! It was a tiring weekend trying to fit everything into 3 days. We were all so tired when we got home. It took nearly 6 hours to get home because of traffic.
Here are some pics from our excursion. Please ignore the date on some of the pics............these were taken using our older camera and I didn't realize the time/date had been set.
