Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Wink ok, fess up time...

So I'm watching the Disney planning video, can't let on of course to the kids that we're going again....and I'm looking at all the rides that I've never been on or some that DH hasn't been on either. Mainly because I'm not really a ride person or because we always had a small one in a stroller. Now we won't have any of that....but this time I plan on changing that.

So here's my list of never have gone on rides....

Tower of Terror
Rockin Rollercoaster
Big Thunder Mountain
Haunted Mansion (I know, I know what a baby I am)

and many more.

So what's yours and also do you take pictures on the rides? I know some, like the fast ones or roller coasters you can't. But I see people have taken pics on like Buzz Lightyear, and stuff.

You have to go on all of those. Tower of Terror and Rockin Rollercoaster were so awesome. We went at a low time and we just kept goin on Tower of Terror...it was amazing.

The Haunted Mansion really isn't scary. Seriously. It's more funny than anything else. It's a must also.

Hope you have a great time.

We are goin on our first Disney cruise in April and I am going to miss the parks I think. I love rides and the atmosphere but Im also looking forward to all of the excursions we have planned at the different ports. It will be something different for all of us.

I've gone on most things now, but I think I should finally go on Astro Orbitor, as I've never made it on there. :

I don't think there is one thing I've not ridden. Unless you count the water parks - I've never been to them, so I've not done those.

I am a Big Ride Chicken, so there are a lot of thrill rides I've never been on. I'm also not good with spinning rides. So with that in mind, my list:

Space Mountain
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Magic Carpets of Aladdin (just never been a "must do")
Dumbo (at least I don't remember ever riding it, also one I can pass on)
Tomorrowland Indy Speedway (again, not a must do)
Astro Orbitor (eek! high, spinning and looks scary!)
Goofy's Barnstormer (I know it's a kiddie coaster, but not a coaster fan)
Test Track
ToT
RnR
Toy Story Mania (I haven't been there since it opened; definitely a must do)
Animation Studios Tour (I want to; just never have the time)
Lights Motors Action Stunt Show (ran out of time last trip)
EE
Dinosaur!
Primevil Whirl
Triceratops Spin

I know, my list is long. And I didn't include playgrounds or character greeting areas, none of which I've ever done. I have no kids and as much as I love the characters, I sorta feel silly standing in line with a bunch of little kids waiting. I know people do it here, so I guess I should just get over it and give Mickey a big hug!

There's a few things that I want to try on my next trip, whenever that may be, and others that I'm chicken to try but would w/ the right person, like Dinosaur, BTMRR, and Test Track. It would have to be someone who's been on the ride before and who would respect my fears and be supportive and not make fun of me.

Just to give you an example, I screamed my fool head off during Star Tours, much to the amusement of the 8 year old sitting next to me. Also I nearly broke the girl sitting in front of me's neck on POTC, b/c I thought the drop was bigger than it was and grabbed the hand bar in front of me, accidentally grabbing her ponytail, too (If you're reading this, hon, ) I'm just not good with surprises on rides. I like to know what the vehicle is going to do before it does it. That's why most WDW rides work for me b/c they go on a track and I can see what the car ahead of me did before I do the same thing. Once I've ridden a ride once and know I survived it, I'm fine to ride again. I've done Mission: Space twice, both the regular and light versions. I like the light one better (first time I rode was before the light was available). I also enjoy Splash Mountain, although I don't really love the drop. I know, irrational fears and all that.

Now that I've rambled on, I'll hush up now. C'mon, someone else's turn to confess!

Dh and I took pictures on almost everything we actually could, hence 12 million photos to sort out. argh!
Before sept 08, I had not been to WDW since 1993. I've come to realize that rides have come and gone in that 15 yrs and I never had the pleasure of experincing them. oh well...
I tend not to do water rides. ie splash mountain, and the river rapid one in AK.(sloshing around for a hour after is uncomfortable)
I think that I will skip the Space mountain next time. I find I'm getting wimpier as I get older.

The only thing I've never done is Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Belle. Really neither one appealed to me, but I've heard that Tom Sawyer Island is pretty fun. I might have to check that out.

The only ride I haven't gone on is Goofy's Barnstormer at the MK. Other then that I have gone on every ride in every park.

For shows i have seen all of those too.

Does this mean I don't have a need to go back?

In terms of photos, if I can take photos without a flash I have but since Flash Photography could possibly ruin the experience for other guests I don't take them.

I know on the Haunted Mansion I got really upset as we got stuck in the Magic Ball Area and people took flash photos and RUINED the whole "magic" of that for my mom and I. So we don't do flash photos so that others won't have that experience.

But we have taken movies on BTMRR, and Expedition Everest, as well as Soarin. Great ways to remember the rides!
