As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Who: ~Me (Heather, 35 aka Bill~ that story will come later inthsi TR!) SAHM,
Army NG wife, OCD Disney Planner
~DH (Joe, 33) a corrections officer & an MP for the Army NG. Wonderful
father & husband too!
~DD (Bri, 4) future princess & full time DIVA!!!
~Guest appearance by BFF#1 (Heather, 34 ~ DD’s godmother & my
oldest friend aka Aunt Heather.) Oldest in that I have known her since I
was like 2 yrs old!!
~Guest appearance by BFF’s DM (Barbara, aka Mom)
~Our Angel Robert I know will be with us the whole time too! He loved Mickey, even more then his Mommy does(which is pretty hard to do!!).
Our Journey: Flying out Fri, Jan 23rd returning Fri, Jan 30th
Our Lodging: All Star Movies ~ preferred room ~ requested 101 Dalmatians Bldg (DD’s fav Disney movie of the Moment)
Our Special Plans: Since this is a “No Planning” trip per DH, I have to say other than me trying to get him to participate in the Flag Retreat, nothing is planned.
Reason for Trip: Honestly we needed to just “get out of dodge”! On the day before New Year’s Eve I said to DH, “Babe, I need to go away. Can we go to Disney for a few days…..please?!?!” Now I figured it was a long shot, we were planning on going to WDW in Dec of 2009, but after Robert died that was up in the air. To my complete surprise he said YES! DH has always been a spur of the moment kinda guy, while I like to plan, plan, plan! I did some research online & found out that if we did the Pay for 4 Play for 3 offer we would only be spending about $200 more for 3 extra days (& that was pretty much airfare & adding the QSDP!!), plus we get the $200 GC too! A few days later he called the TA & paid for our trip. We haven’t told DD about it yet, but I fear she suspects something is up b/c we are talking about going to Disney a lot lately. We keep telling her it is b/c we are going for Mommy’s bday in Oct & Halloween (gotta take advantage of free admission on my bday & now the with Military Salute offer on top of that we now have an Oct 2009 trip in the works as well!) Now our dilemma is trying to figure out what we are celebrating b/c this trip really isn’t a celebration & I fear that will constantly be a question we hear since it is this year’s theme. DH said we should just say we are celebrating family or living life for the moment…..I’m not sure, but we’ll see what we decide once we get there!
Up next ~ the Plan for our “No Planning Allowed” Trip…….
One of the stipulations of DH agreeing to this trip was that I was not allowed to plan at all. Umm HELLO…how can I do that? You have to plan a little, EMH have to play a big part in our touring since we opted Not to get the PH this time to save some $$. Dinning was easy b/c we are doing the CSDP so I didn’t need to try & find ADR’s that were available with only 3 weeks till arrival. I did manage to talk DH into one TS after seeing/hearing how it was at Grand Floridian Café. Our tour plan for each day will be very open. Pretty much whatever DD wants to do/see will be the plan of the day. Of course we are going to try & FP TSMM, stand in line 4ever to see Tink & friends, and we can’t forget DH’s fav Princess Ariel. I also had to figure out when BFF & her Mom were going to be in WDW & try to find a time to meet up b/c they had planned their trip for a while & already had full days planned. Luckily they could squeeze us in. So here is the Plan for my “No Planning” trip!
Fri., Jan 23rd ~ Arrival at MCO around 9:30ish.
Over to ASMV to check in
Then off to Magic Kingdom
Lunch & Dinner will be CS since we are on the CSDP
Sat., Jan 24th~EPCOT
Lunch & Dinner CS wherever we feel like eating at the moment
Hopefully watch Illuminations
Sun., Jan 25th ~DisneyHollywood Studios
Lunch & Dinner, again wherever we get a craving for
Try & catch Block Party Bash
Mon., Jan 26th ~Animal Kingdom
BFF & Mom arrive this morning & we will meet up for lunch.
Try to see Parade at 4pm
Dinner undecided, but maybe Flame Tree BBQ or somewhere in DTD or even back at ASMV
Tues., Jan 27th~ EPCOT
Lunch & dinner still undecided, but that is the theme here if you haven’t noticed
Illuminations if we didn’t see it on Sat.
Wed., Jan 28th ~ Animal Kingdom
Lunch & dinner at Flame Tree BBQ (this is DH’s fav CS in WDW so we plan on eating here twice today. DD may end up with Pizzafari, her meals are undecided here today)
Parade if we didn’t see it on Mon.
Thurs., Jan 29th~ Magic Kingdom
Breakfast at Grand Floridian Café
Lunch & dinner undecided, of course =)
Hopefully I can get DH to take part in the Flag retreat
Spectro Magic & Wishes
Fri., Jan 30th~ Return Home
We have a mid afternoon flight so we will sleep in, pack then grab some lunch. We will probably “tour” ASMV so DD can check all the stuff out, maybe head over to DTD for a bit before DME picks us up.
It sounds like a nice relaxing getaway, and I like the idea of celebrating family. I sure hope it's a magical trip for you guys!

I think getting away is a GREAT idea! I'm one for getting away, but my DH, who is deploying in 3 weeks for up to 16 months, would rather stay home. Have a FANTASTIC trip!
everyone. DH & I are looking forward to getting away from all the awkward looks, people always apolizing for saying something about Robert, fearing it will send us into tears & family trying to give us advice on how we should be acting/reacting.

DH was that way right before he deployed last year, but we also spent a good deal time doing things he had wanted to do that summer that we would be missing with him being in Iraq. I didn't care where we were as long as we were together as much as possible before he left!
Well hun you know I am supporting your decision to go away for a few days. You will be much happier and even though Robert is now an angel, you will forever hold him in your heart. You do need to de-stress a bit in order to be focused to help your daughter to grow.
Great start, but no plans? Wow, I'm not sure I could do that!
I'm not sure I can either, but I am trying since DH asked & gave me this great trip we are about to go on.
So I am offically REALLY Excited. Tomorrow at this time we should be getting on DME & head to our resort. One change in "non"plans though, BFF sent me a text last her & Mom will be going to Clearwater instead . Something funny must be going on for them to not be going to WDW. They had gotten a really great dealb/c oneof BFF's former employees now works for WDW, I think in revervations & hoked he up BIG TIME. She said she'll fill me in when we both get back.
I have a few loads of laundry to do so I can finish packing. I would have been packed already if DH didn't have to work the inaguration with his NG unit. You may ask, "what did he bring yu home from DC?"................................nothing but laundry, dang!!!
Wish me lots of good weather pixies so I am get out of the fridgid northeast & down to slightly warmer WDW! See ya real soon!
