As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

All I'm reading about menus, character meals, etc. I am constantly seeing mention of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches...what about the many kids who are allergic to peanut butter? Even getting something else isn't certain, because so many also have contact allergies, including my son. Touching an object that was touched by someone with a little peanut butter on their fingers will cause an immediate reaction.
With so many schools and daycare going peanut free, why is Disney so gung-ho on this as a lunch?
*I'm not complaining, as I will certainly be carrying my trusty Benadryl around, I'm just curious*

i think your right i think disney should look into this and take it off i know its such a big thing for most kids maybe disney should start to use the peanutbutter that is in the small packs with the jelly the same way kinda put a kit together with the bread and let the parents put together the sandwiches themselves just a thought
The PB&J sandwiches that Disney serves are mostly the Uncrustables, so they are prepackaged. I think that would lessen the chance of a contact reaction for a nut allergic person.
The only place that I know of, for sure, that serves actual PB&J on regular bread is at the Plaza Restaurant at the Magic Kingdom at WDW. Every other place I have seen have the prepackaged ones.

The quick service places serve Uncrustables. All the restaurants that I know of serve it out. The Wine Country Trattoria even serves it as a "make your own" sandwich in little bowls that the kids can put on their MM shaped bread.
I understand that it's hard with allergies, but I would be very disappointed if they completely got rid of PB&J. It's just a matter of making sure Disney is good at eliminating cross contamination...most people say that Disney is great about food allergies, though I'm sure it's hard to completely rely on that minimum wage worker not to touch PB and then grab your food...
You might try calling in advance. They may have all the information you need, or at least be able to tell you where to ask. Here is the info from the Disneyland website:
Can my special dietary needs be accommodated at restaurants at the Disneyland® Resort?
Special dietary needs — including vegetarian and medically restricted diets — can often be accommodated at select table-service restaurants. Please request special meals at least 24 hours in advance at (714) 781-DINE (3463)
Lots of other options are available if you check the menus on "allears" they are usually up to date, I can recall most places do a child's hamburger meal or hot dog meal or chicken nuggets and pizza or turkey pinwheels or grilled cheese sandwiches are available too, most places have a choice of two sides and a drink (Soda and fries available on request) included in the price some restaurants have cookies or ice cream or fruit for kids too. It's not as limited as it used to be and if you have special dietary requirements you can usually talk to the chefs about them they are great at making something not on the menu to suit your needs.
Our son no longer has to live on chicken tenders and fruit so the change to the menus has been a welcome break for us.

I don't recall even seeing PB&J on the kids menus when we ate. Enough chicken tenders to make DD happy. But the uncrustables eliminate cross contamination issues -- at least in the kitchen.
The kids menus at DL appear to have been revamped again . . . in addition to the normal kid fare of chicken nuggets, burgers, etc, they now have "Kids Power Packs" which consist of string cheese, yogurt, sliced apples and "fish" crackers and then milk, orange juice or bottled water.
They have also added TODDLER meals to some of the kids menus. It is mac and cheese, applesauce and milk for those.
It doesn't look like Uncrustables are even on the DL kids menus anymore. :
Here are the places at DL that still have PB & J's . . . they aren't listed as such, but they may or may not be Uncrustables:
Keep in mind though that the toddler meals may be pretty tiny. They've had one with spanish rice and I think chicken bits (think smaller than pea size bits) in the Adventureland/Frontierland/Critter Country area, I can't remember which places though. The meal was about half a cup. I haven't seen the mac and cheese ones yet.

I took a look at one of these "power packs" when I was looking for a snack in Toontown. They sell them at some of the fruit carts. The packs are pre-packaged, and it's sort of like buying a "lunchable". If cross contamination is what you're worried about this might be a good option.
I realize that many kids these days are allergic to PB, but there are plenty that still love it and eat it every day. My youngest daughter (age 9) has decided that she's going veggie, nuts and nut butters are a quick, good source of protien for her.
I would be very disappointed if Disney got rid of PB. because people have allergies. My daughter is allergic to blue cheese and mushrooms, those are all over the menus. Especially since most of Disney's vegitarian dishes have mushrooms in them. It's my responsibility to call ahead and talk to the chef if I'm extra worried about having to avoid them, not Disney's to get rid of them.
