As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.

Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

our annivrsary trip (with my parents on the pull out bed)
Hi all
so just got back and need to start my trip report, b een trying to sort out all the photos so i can make it interesting and will start to upload them in the next posts.
so to set the scene me and my DH went to WDW for our Honeymoon last year it was Dh's first trip and he was converted. we had bought our first thing as a married couple by the end of our vacation, out first 160 points in the vacation club. this was our first trip home and our 1st anniversary celebration to AKL hovever my parents being huge Disney fans themselves since our first family trip in 1995, somehow mannaged to talk themselves onto our pull out bed in our 1 bed appartment.
so the vacationers were:
Me (Gemma) 27 self confessed Disney nut and serial planner, (to the extent that the other students on my teacher training course were making fun of me as if anyone went to the toilet during class they would all turn to me and say' a toilet break is not in the plan for another 30 mins, thats it you will just have to miss the parade!!!)
DH (Dave) 37 a new disney nut but likes to build up as the weeks go on
DD (Craig) 50 (just, but still dosent like it) likes to power round and is likely to be in a park from opening time to closing time all day every day.
DM (Sue) 55 the one rushing ahead of my DD shouting as 2 people got ahead of them in the que.
so you see a mixed bunch all with different ideas of what to do, and leaving me to do all the planning. We were on the Delux dining plan so be prepaired for lots of food reports, and resturant reviews as we had some exelent food. and some great adventures.

wont bore you with all the boring stuff about the flight. it was good, on time and smooth (i dont like flying but i like holidays so i have to), when we got to the airport we were luck and were one of the first few off. this was great as (i dont know how many have been through immigration at the end of a busy international flight, but we have been there for nearrly 2 hours before now!!) so were off the plane and going to find our car within 35 minuites which was great.
we wemt off to find our driver as we had booked a towncar so we could get the 30 min grocery stop, what we had managed to keep from my DM was that we had booked the limo as she had never been in one. the very nice thing was that when we saw the driver who was there to meet us it was the same driver who had met us last year for our honeymoon. he remembered us, that it was our honeymoon last year and even the hotel that we stayed in. this just made the drive more special and when my mum saw the limo she was so excited.
i was looking forward to the lobby in AKL as i had read so many reports of how stunning the entrance was, and i have to say that i wasnt dissapointed. when we arrived and walked in it realy does take your breath away. it is one of the nicest lobbies i have ever seen and feels very homely yet exotic all at thhe same time. the only thing which i was dissapointed in was as it was our first trip 'home', i really wanted them to say 'welcome home' but for whatever reason the cm who checked us in didnt. however any dissapointment that i had from this was totally gone when we walked into our room which was stunning and so big. i was a bit worried if my DM and DD were going to be ok on the pull out bed (as i am so used to going on holiday with them and me having the pull out) but when we saw the room and the pull out were were all so happy. of course having a savannah view room we all rushed out on to the balcony to see what animals we cold see and were amazed when a family of 5 giraffs walked around outside our window.

we settled in to the room and went for a light tea in the Mara quickservice which was surprisingly good (i will talk about this later) then settled in for an early night, so we could be up and about early the next day.
