As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I can upgrade from Basic Dining to Deluxe Dining for our upcoming trip for $518, Last year we paid sig. restaurants out of pocket and some lunches and spent that much on food...the difference is this year we are on Club level. What do you guys think...good idea to upgrade or just a waste?

It really depends. If you are on the go all day, you most likely will only get some breakfast items from Club Level. If you have several Signature meals it may be worth the deluxe plan. Let us know what you are plans are for meals and we can help you calculate the cost both ways.
If you do the signatures like Dh and I do, then get the Deluxe. We eat b'fast at the Club. Then we have a sit down lunch to take a break from the action, which can be a really good thing and then for dinner we have a signature restaurant ADR most every night. It works great for us.
My personal feeling was that the DxDDP was SOOOO MUCH food, that we NEVER would have been able to eat anything at club level. We were always stuffed, and felt that we were still throwing away a lot of food.
We were there for a week, ate 2 signature meals (CRT and Yachtsman Steakhouse) and did not use up all our credits.
Ok...heres my ADR's:
Sat: arrive early (before noon)
8:50 pm Le Celliar
Sun: 10:15 Chef Mickeys
6:45 Tutto Italia
Mon: 11:45 Liberty tree Tarvern
9:05 Coral Reef
Tues: 9:40 Cape May
6:30 Teppan Edo
Weds: 11:45 Play n Dine at Hollywood and Vine
7:10 Yachtsman (2)
Thurs: 1:00 pm Rain Forest (would try and switch this to Yak and Yeti ) or go to Boma
8:00 San Angel
Friday: 11:55 Brown Derby(2)
7:30 California Grill(2)
Sat:
12:30
Sci Fi

How many nights are you staying? As a head's up Boma is not open for lunch. Your ADRs look good. If you are doing some nice counter services for your missed breakfasts & lunch and you might come out okay.
Wow that is going to be a ton of food! We just got back from a Deluxe trip and we were stuffed the entire time and we only did two meals a day . . . but 3 course meals twice a day or late breakfast buffets and 3 course dinners were still too much food!
For my Dgang? A total waste! We barely eat one meal outside of the club level offerings.
But for you?
I know several of my friends would be able to do concierge and the deluxe plan. I tell you, I really don't know how they do it! It is a ton of food!
But looking at your list (if I'm counting nights @ your resort correctly) you'll be in WDW for 7 nights? That would allow for 21 meals. Right now you are at 17 meals with your ADR list. This would allow you to either replace 4 choices with signature restaurants or check-in to your resort early (get your key to the world card) and add one regular meal for lunch on your arrival day and replace 3 other meals with signature meals. This would give you the most for the deluxe plan cost. And you could use club level for your continental breakfast.
Would it work? Would it be a lot of food? But only you know if your Dgang would be up to the challenge!
I know for my mom and I we spend so little time at the resort that we have a hard time booking anything but a std room because the offerings in club level would be lost on us. So we would do well with the DxDP but if we did stay CL then we probably would eat more there and skip the deluxe dining plan.
So if you are unsure then based on your list I'd stick with basic dining

ok..here it goes, you definetly come out ahead if you eat everything it is just a matter of how large your appetites are. I based this on you being there 7 nights and the average cost of adult meals (if you always order the cheapest thing on the menu...not as good a value; if you always order the high end...great value)
8:50 pm Le Celliar

If I did my math right...the above is 16 credits, leaving you 5 credits each for sitdown meals and 14 snacks each. I have you spending $17 less than the plan with just these meals. So, if you are doing all these things the plan will more than pay for itself
Does anyone know what the club Level offerings are at CSR? We are planning to stay there on our next trip and cannot decide if we should do CL or Deluxe Dinning Plan. I am not sure how many signature restaurants we will do because DS will only be 2.
So we went with the Deluxe. We figured we have 17 credits used...we added lunch on arrival day and it gives us 3 to play with. Also going to see if I can switch Rain Forest. Thank you so much for all your help
